Chapter 302 Rain Clouds (4)
To annoy Jake as well, Diego fired the combination of his electric sword and Mana Blade several times. However, the dark flames swords turned into walls and protected Jake. Diego wasn't a mage, so it was only natural that his magic attacks wouldn't be as powerful as his physical ones. Still, Jake wasn't one, either. His flames were powered by his anger, and that pissed Diego off… he refused to accept that his anger was more powerful than his wish for revenge.
For Diego, someone like him had no right to be angry, he had only accepted his death, and that was all. In a sense, his anger was even more unreasonable than Jake's, but he couldn't see that… Regardless, Diego raised his sword and then made a lot more energy from the machines being drawn to the weapon. He was going to overpower him anyway, so he might do it as soon as possible…
Jake could feel that the next attack, he wouldn't be able to block with his flames. Still, his preparations had been completed. He didn't increase the size of his dark flames, but he increased their intensity until they began to look like they had become something like lava instead of flames… it was really unsettling to see the flames acting like that. Still, things came with a price… Jake used all of the power of his mind to make that possible. Controlling his anger to the limits without losing his mind made him feel like his head was splitting. To the point that some blood began to drop from his noise…
Diego frowned when he saw that. It was something new and unexpected. Still, he couldn't imagine that the power of the flames had increased that much. In the end, he pointed his sword at Jake, and then a massive beam of energy was fired at Jake. He blocked those with his upgraded swords of dark flames.
The massive impact of the attack caused a massive flash of light that made both of them close their eyes several times during its duration. The temperature increased so much during those few seconds that both of them began to sweat a lot… it was that massive the amount of energy discharged around.
In the end, Diego was left speechless when the attack ended and saw Jake still standing. He looked like someone was trying to split his head, but aside from that, he looked completely fine.
"How…" Diego said.
Jake still wasn't willing to talk, but he couldn't do much since most of the dark flames had been consumed for defense. Regardless, before the enemy could recover his energy, Jake used Flash and then swung down his sword on the enemy's head. Diego raised his own to block it, but then he didn't feel much weight behind it. While he was frowning, Jake turned his body and then kicked the enemy's right side.
The Thunder Armor got in the way, but Diego still twisted his body in pain. That kind of armor was mostly useful against magical attacks, but Jake still got damaged as well. Diego suddenly thrust his sword at Jake's head, and then Jake twisted it to the side before he was forced to jump to the side when he followed that motion with a downward swing.
Diego kept swinging his sword around, but without the momentum that Thunder Armor granted him, Jake managed to dodge them all. Unlike Jake, Diego probably didn't fight as much since their last encounter. It wasn't like one month or more had passed since their meeting, but Jake still fought a lot and got a lot stronger.
Diego bit his lips in annoyance, he needed some time to draw the energy from the machines around, and Jake knew that. That was why he kept close to the enemy despite the danger. Without any other choice, Diego used the remaining energy of his armor and then made it explode.
Jake was pushed backward, even though he blocked most of the attack with his sword. His hands were paralyzed for several seconds during the discharge expansion, and then Diego tried to draw the energy from the machines. In the end, Jake managed to fire the remaining dark flames at the enemy. However, a shield was suddenly launched in front of Diego and then blocked the attack.
Both Diego and Jake looked at the wall beyond the battlefield, and they saw some shadows there. Jake could already tell that someone was watching him. He couldn't just say who… in any case, Diego sure looked pissed.
"I can defeat him by myself! Don't interfere!" Diego shouted.
It was time for Jake's sarcastic words to make the enemy even more pissed. However, he was more focused on the shadows on the walls. He hated to admit it, but those guys there had a powerful and annoying presence. Fighting them and winning is pretty much impossible in his condition. Still, if they truly wanted to see him dead now, they would attack instead of just keep watching.
In the end, Diego managed to gather more energy from the machines, but he decided to return to his usual methods. The precious massive attack didn't work, and wasting energy like that wasn't something he was willing to do anymore.
Jake just watched the enemy controlling most of the energy and making it gather around his legs. He wanted to be faster, and while that was certainly possible, it wasn't the best way to deal with Jake.
Diego began to run around Jake again, but this time, he didn't give him much time to concentrate. He charged at Jake's back again while aiming at his head. Still, he stopped and returned to run when he saw Jake reacting to that. Diego did that many more times until it started to look like he was attacking two places at once…
Despite the situation, Jake didn't show many reactions on his face. He kept looking around blankly until his chance came… Diego was fast, and he could fake his attacks, but he couldn't fake his bloodlust. He made himself so fast to the point that it looked like he was attacking four places at the same time. Still, that hadn't been enough… When he attacked for real, Jake made a saw of dark flames spin around him instantly.
