Chapter 28: 28: The Queen's Aura
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Upon stepping out of the coffee shop, Su Wan saw that Long Xiaoshan was silent.
"What's the matter, Xiaoshan?"
"Sister Su, although I came to you for help, I haven't planned on offering the exclusive agency rights yet," Long Xiaoshan stated frankly.
He was not an ordinary farmer.
Having been admitted to Shuimu, and having self-studied many things, Long Xiaoshan was not a man without ambition or insight. He was well aware of the value of his Spirit Shrimp. Seeking help from Su Wan was merely out of a current lack of connections, but business was business. He wouldn't just carelessly sell the agency rights for the Spirit Shrimp just because he knew Su Wan.
"Ah, this..."
Su Wan appeared somewhat embarrassed; she had thought that being able to offer Long Xiaoshan an exclusive agency through Lily Hotel's reputation was already showing him considerable respect. She didn't expect that Long Xiaoshan seemed to be unappreciative.
She felt that Long Xiaoshan was once again exhibiting his character of aiming too high.
Lily Hotel was a three-star establishment, one of the best in the county. Long Xiaoshan, a mere farmer, should be satisfied to sell his shrimp there, shouldn't he?
Feeling a bit irritated, she said, "Fine then, I'll introduce your shrimp to the chairman later. If she's satisfied, she can negotiate with you."
Long Xiaoshan could hear that Su Wan was getting a bit angry. He rubbed his head, unsure how to explain himself.
After a while, they walked back to the entrance of the hotel.
Standing at the entrance, Chen Gang noticed that Su Wan and the young man carrying a wooden bucket were returning together. As they approached, he finally recognized that the youth was the bald-headed one who had hurt his hand at the job fair two days ago.
He immediately lunged forward, pointing at Long Xiaoshan and exclaimed, "Well, well, you damn kid dared to show up in front of me again; I'll make sure you don't get out of this in one piece."
The two security guards following Chen Gang asked, "Brother Gang, what's wrong? Did this kid offend you?"
"This kid has quite the nerve. He hurt my hand that day, and it still hurts today," Chen Gang said as he pulled out a rubber baton from his waist, "little Tie, little Fang, follow me, we're going to teach him a lesson he won't forget."
Su Wan was alarmed and stepped forward, saying, "What are you doing, Chen Gang? Are you the head of security or a thug? Starting fights right outside the hotel."
As the hotel's HR manager, Su Wan held a position of authority and was deeply trusted by the chairman. Her intervention caused Chen Gang and the two guards to hesitate.
Chen Gang said, "Manager Su, why are you defending him? That day at the job market, this kid harassed you; I'm merely trying to avenge you."
"Avenge what," Su Wan retorted, annoyed: "It was all a misunderstanding that day, and even if it wasn't, you should just do your job. The hotel hired you, not for revenge but for security; now, get out of here."
Angered by Su Wan, the two security guards immediately backed off.
Su Wan was their direct superior, with control over personnel, and she could dismiss them at any time.
Even Chen Gang didn't dare to confront her; while he had some connections in the hotel, crossing Su Wan would be troublesome, so he could only watch helplessly as Su Wan led Long Xiaoshan inside, feeling frustrated without an outlet for his anger.
Su Wan called someone from the hotel kitchen and asked Long Xiaoshan to hand over a shrimp for him to prepare.
After the shrimp was steamed, Su Wan had Long Xiaoshan wait in an office on the second floor. Then, after making a phone call, she personally carried the shrimp up using the hotel's exclusive elevator.
The hotel's top-floor Sky Garden.
Shangguan Baihe, now wearing a Chanel black suit, was looking at a document. Hearing the knock on the door, her lazy voice, with a hint of a magnetic tone, rang out, "Come in."
The door opened, and Su Wan walked in, carrying a plate of something.
Shangguan Baihe took a slight sniff and said, "It smells wonderful."
"Chairwoman, this is the shrimp I mentioned. I also felt great after eating it, so I thought of letting the chairwoman have a taste," Su Wan placed the plate of large shrimp in front of Shangguan Baihe.
Shangguan Baihe looked at the plate of large shrimp and exclaimed in surprise, "Is this really a river shrimp?"
Even with Shangguan Baihe's vast experience, she had never seen such large river shrimp.
"He said it is. At first, I also thought it might be a genetic mutation or was artificially ripened, but after eating it, it didn't seem like it. The shrimp is too delicious, and I felt energetic afterward, it has the effect of nourishing health," Su Wan explained.
Shangguan Baihe teased, "You're praising it as if there's nothing like it under heaven. Little Wan, are you sure this guy isn't a little boyfriend you've been seeing secretly?"
"Chairwoman, it's not, really not. I just had some, and I did not exaggerate. You'll know once you try it," Su Wan's face turned red as she hurriedly explained.
"I'm just teasing you. Look how flustered you've become."
Shangguan Baihe had tried everything, and even though these large shrimp did smell exceptionally good, she wasn't particularly interested, but out of consideration for Su Wan, she picked up a piece of shrimp with her chopsticks and placed it in her mouth.
However, a moment later, Shangguan Baihe's expression became quite animated.
She quickly picked up another piece of shrimp and savored it in her mouth. Seeing Shangguan Baihe repeatedly reaching for more without speaking, Su Wan breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that her recommendation was right on the mark. It was the first time she saw the chairwoman eat something without stopping.
In the past, no matter how delicious something was, the chairwoman would only casually taste a bite or two.
About five minutes later, more than half of the large shrimp had been devoured by Shangguan Baihe.
Shangguan Baihe exhaled and put down her chopsticks with a look of satisfaction; it wasn't that she didn't want to eat anymore, but her stomach simply couldn't fit any more. This shrimp weighed at least a pound, which for her, having eaten more than half was already unbelievable.
After eating, Shangguan Baihe felt a warm radiance throughout her body, spreading from her stomach to her limbs and throughout her body, as if she was filled with energy.
"Incredible," Shangguan Baihe stood up, her eyes shone brightly.
Shangguan Baihe didn't need to mention her business acumen, having opened the largest hotel in the county as a woman, she instantly smelled a tremendous business opportunity and said hurriedly, "Little Wan, where is Long Xiaoshan right now? I must see him immediately."
"He's waiting in my office right now," Su Wan said.
"Good, you've done a great job this time and made a significant contribution. I will definitely reward you later. Now, take me down to see him immediately," Shangguan Baihe said with a hint of eagerness in her eyes.
Su Wan saw Shangguan Baihe this rushed for the first time; even during major business discussions, Shangguan Baihe always appeared calm and composed.
They went down in the private elevator.
As they approached Su Wan's office, Shangguan Baihe had lost that previous urgency and had reverted to a lazy, indifferent demeanor.
Su Wan opened the door and invited Shangguan Baihe to enter first.
Long Xiaoshan had been sitting inside, drinking tea. Hearing the door open, he looked up, and his breath caught. A tall woman with a well-fitted blazer, purple long hair, and a stunning face stepped in on slender high heels, walking gracefully. There seemed to be a languor in her gaze, but her demeanor was proudly aloof. Her graceful entry was like a queen surveying her realm.
Su Wan was considered beautiful and captivating, shining like a bright pearl in a crowd, never to be overshadowed.
But as she followed this woman in,
Even Long Xiaoshan felt Su Wan suddenly lose her luster.
If this woman were a queen, then beautiful Su Wan seemed like nothing more than a maid at the queen's side.
It wasn't about the difference in looks, but the aura. This woman was the most charismatic Long Xiaoshan had ever seen. After much thought, except for Shen Yuerong, Long Xiaoshan couldn't find another woman to match her powerful presence.
