Chapter 73: Tom and Jerry's Indissoluble Alliance!

As soon as Spike heard the sound, he was abruptly awakened. He immediately sat up and glared fiercely ahead, but there was nothing suspicious in front of him. Then Spike slowly shifted his gaze to the left and swiftly turned his body like a compass, facing left with a menacing look. Still finding nothing, he repeated the circular motion to the right, yet there was nothing to be found.

Confused, Spike scratched his little head, wondering if he had misheard something. After looking left and right a few more times and finding no signs of anything suspicious, Spike crossed his paws on the ground, rested his head on top, and twisted his body a few times to find the most comfortable position. He was ready to go back to sleep.

Unbeknownst to Spike, just around the corner, there were Tom and Jerry, the cat and mouse duo. They pressed their backs against the wall, hands also pressed against it, not daring to make a sound. Upon closer inspection, Tom held a large chicken leg in his left hand and a metal rod with a hooked end, used for adjusting the firewood in the campfire, in his right hand.

Beside Tom, Jerry held a ceramic bowl, obtained from an unknown source. The loud "crash" sound that had just occurred was because Jerry had thrown the ceramic bowl in his left hand, attempting to hit Tom but missing and causing it to fall and shatter on the ground.

In theory, they should have been united against Spike, the dog hindering their food theft. Jerry thought that with a little communication, they could team up and sandwich Spike from both sides. However, after being chased out by Spike, Jerry was surprised to discover that Tom had secretly hidden a large chicken leg and was planning to eat it in hiding.

In that instant, Jerry realized that the real clown was himself. The unbreakable alliance between Tom and Jerry instantly shattered, and Jerry couldn't sit still. He picked up two ceramic bowls and went straight at Tom.

"ZZZzzzzzzz~~~."

Hearing the familiar snoring sound, Tom cautiously peeked to the left, making sure that the foolish dog was asleep again before letting out a sigh of relief. Once he retracted his head, Tom and Jerry simultaneously jumped to the side and resumed their confrontation.

However, what Tom didn't know was that as soon as he pulled his head back and resumed the standoff with Jerry, pretending to engage in a battle of 300 rounds for the chicken leg in his hand, Spike, who had been pretending to sleep, suddenly opened his left eye.

As Tom retracted his head, Spike revealed a cunning smile. Quietly, he crawled up from the ground, hands suspended in front of him, and stealthily moved towards the corner. Despite his large size, he made no sound whatsoever.

"Hehehehe." Tom held the chicken leg in his left hand and wielded the fire hook with his right hand, wearing a wicked grin as he looked at Jerry, who only held a ceramic bowl. This time, Spike didn't just threaten Tom alone like before, saying, "If you make a sound, I'll take your life." Instead, he threatened both Tom and Jerry at once. In this situation, even if Jerry had a hundred times more courage, he wouldn't dare to smash the bowl in his hand.

"Gululu." Jerry nervously swallowed a mouthful of saliva as he looked at Tom's sinister grin. Tom was right; Jerry truly couldn't afford to smash the plate. After all, that stupid dog really kept his word. He had torn off Tom's fur in the past because Tom had provoked him.

Jerry was not brave enough to gamble on whether Spike's words were true or not. If he really smashed the plate now, he would most likely be done for, in the worst possible way.

Just as Jerry was contemplating whether to give up on the chicken leg in Tom's hand, he suddenly saw a tall dog standing upright, hands on its waist, appearing behind Tom from the left.

At that moment, Jerry's heart and lungs seemed to stop. When he realized that the dog had awakened, Jerry quickly put the ceramic bowl aside and urgently pointed towards Tom's left, almost shouting it out.

However, to Jerry's disappointment, Tom immediately laughed when he saw Jerry's reaction. He knew right away that Jerry was trying to divert his attention, making him look back so that Jerry could make his escape. Tom had experienced this trick from Jerry many times before and couldn't be fooled again.

"Ow~ Yank~ Yank Yank Yank~~~!" Watching Jerry's 'comical' antics on the ground, Tom raised his left hand, holding the chicken leg, and waved his thumb backward, laughing loudly at Jerry's poor trickery.

Spike, standing behind Tom, saw the chicken leg being offered willingly and his eyes lit up. He immediately opened his jaws wide. As soon as Tom voluntarily placed the chicken leg in his mouth, Spike closed his mouth shut. This way, all the meat, except for the half-chicken leg bone in Tom's hand, went into Spike's mouth.

After waving his hand, Tom retrieved his left hand and brought the 'chicken leg' to his mouth. He was prepared to show off by putting it into his mouth right in front of Jerry, making him experience the despair of watching others eat while he could only watch.

Jerry, witnessing this action by Tom, was completely stunned. The whole mouse was petrified, jumping around in place and urgently pointing at the big dog behind Tom. It became more and more desperate, trying to make Tom realize that there was a dog behind him.

However, Tom paid no attention to Jerry's performance.

"Crunch~ Crunch~" Tom took a bite on the left, then a bite on the right, and began to chew on the 'chicken leg meat' that he had showcased in his mouth. However, before he could chew a few times, he suddenly snapped out of it. Was there no meat in his mouth? Tom lowered his head and looked at the small section of chicken leg bone left in his hand. Like Jerry, he swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said, "Gululu."

Summoning the last bit of courage, Tom tremblingly reached out his left hand towards his left rear side. After his hand extended, it directly touched a contoured dog face. Tom's heart instantly turned cold.

Finally, Tom turned his head to look back, and there he saw the dog's face, only ten centimeters away from him. In that moment of seeing the dog's face, Tom's fur visibly started turning white, as if in shock.
