Chapter 4: (7/8)
Chapter 4: (7/8)
Kain calmly tapped into his mana pool. "Hmm, only half was regenerated. This should be enough." Kain thought to himself while secretly chanting for [Shadow Clone]. Kain did not think that he had enough mana for an escape. If he still has the Blood Pendant, Kain would have had a chance to fight back regardless of the level gap between him and David. But now, all he could do is some desperate struggle before kissing this world goodbye.
David laughed and said, "Alright, you can calm down now. I told you, I'm a Blood Mage." David activated his Twin Soul to show the dark red energy ball on his left hand while having a black energy ball on the right hand.
"Eh..."
"You have done well earlier with me but then fell to the maid. Just because she got the code words correctly, does not mean she is a Blood Mage. Remember to always check for the Twin Soul."
"My apology, senior."
"Ay, I'm not your senior. I'm on the same rank as Andrella."
"I understand, Master Bodwyn."
"Good. We are still in the enemy's territory, call me Executioner like you have been."
"Yes, sir. What is your real name?"
I have been playing the role of David Bodwyn for too long. My real name does not matter anymore.
I understand.
They talked for several minutes, and Kain remembered he was still being naked. He looked at David and the maid with big innocent eyes then asked, "Are you guys gonna leave so I can continue taking a shower or?"
"No, go ahead. She will help."
The maid came over and resumed bathing Kain. After a little conversation, Kain has learned that the maid was just a Novice Blood and Earth Mage. She was not talented and could not advance into the Intermediate tier. That was why the Blood Mages Guild decided to offer her the role of a maid and let her gather intel from the Mages Council in a different way. All Blood Mages are valuable to the Blood Mages Guild. The guild was built to save and provide shelters for as many Twin Soul children as they can. If the children have no talent and are stuck at Novice-tiers, the guild will still treasure them just like any other talented members. This is what Kain had realized when he was just five years old. In Kain's memories, Blood Mages were kind and loving people. Kain was being treated harshly because of his talent in learning magic. That was why Kain was placed as a pupil to Andrella Whistler. If she was not harsh on him, he won't be so strong compared to other Student Mages around his age as he is today.
After Kain finished bathing, he had to wait for another two hours before Noe was ready to see him. Kain was called into a throne room where he saw a tall and muscular man that had very short hair. The man appeared to be in his mid forty and was sitting on a golden chair. Short hair is unusual for magic casters but still, Kain has no doubt this man is Noe Clerico, leader of the Gray. Kain could not keep his eyes away from Noe because it was rare to see a magic caster that had such a muscular appearance. If someone says this man is a warrior, Kain will definitely believe them.
Kain was not wrong, Noe Clerico was also a Saint-tier Monk Warrior. After getting stuck at level 100 in Conjuration Magic for over a million years, Noe decided to take a break by training in the warrior arts. It only took him a thousand seven hundred fifty two (1752) years to reach the Saint-tier of Monk Warrior. If Noe ever runs out of mana in his battle, he can still protect himself or defeat his foes using physical strength.
Kain followed the tradition that he had studied about what to do for the first time meeting with a leader of the Colors. Kain kneeled his right knee on the ground, keeping both of his hands crossed on his chest, and said, "Honorable leader of the Gray, my name is Kain Almos and I am at your commands."
"Uhm... you may rise."
"I do not deserve to but your request shall be fulfilled."
"Hmm, you have done well with the tradition. You can be at ease now."
"Yes, your grace."
Noe turned to look at David. David shook his head to verify that there is nothing wrong with Kain's background and he has been confirmed to be not a Blood Mage.
Noe smiled in happiness and said, "Kain, let's cut out all the bull craps. I have lived too long and learned to hate it. Keep it simple, not formal, understand?
"Yes."
"Uhm... Do you know why I called you here today?"
"Yes, because you wanted me to join your Gray."
"Hoh, and what do you say about that?"
"I am honored to."
"Very good answer. From now on you are a member of the Gray. Here, take this." Noe threw Kain a magic ring containing a gray gemstone. The gemstone has the crest of the Mages Council engraved to it.
Noe said, "Drop your blood on the ring so it can acknowledge you as the new master." Kain immediately cut his right index finger to drop blood into the magic ring. A purple aura appeared around the ring signifying it has acknowledged Kain as its new owner.
"This magic ring can trap a conjured creature for you. The creature can have the strength of up to tenth-tier warrior or level 30 in magical power. The trapped creature won't be able to escape and will not affect your mana regeneration. You can release the creature anytime and anywhere and command it to battle. However, the ring can only trap one creature. To trap another creature, you will have to banish the old one back to its realm first. Any trapped creature was killed will automatically be banished back to the realm where it came from. The trapped creature can not kill itself and will be forced to obey the owner of the magic ring. Clear?"
"Yes, thank you, your grace."
"I said no formal, just keep it simple."
"Yes, sir. Does this ring have a name?"
"It is called LYAUR, short for Lock Your Ass Up Ring."
"Eh..."
"Haha... you should have seen your face. I'm the creator of these rings. I can name it whatever I want."
"Yes, sir."
I guess the rumors are true about people who have lived too long tend to act like children. Im only nineteen years old and I am more mature than this clown. Kain thought to himself.
"You can not use this ring in the tournament battle, that would be cheating. Understood?"
"I understand."
"Good. Kain, do you have any knowledge of magical items craftsmanship?"
"No, sir."
"Uhm, after you graduate from the Mages Academy, I will send you to learn craftsmanship where you can obtain knowledge of how to craft magical items. You can see I have the same LYAUR on my finger, but mine is much more powerful. The one I have can trap up to one hundred creatures that have the strength of Saint-tier warriors or a single creature with the rank of Saint-tier magic caster. Several calendars from now, perhaps you could also craft another ring like this."
"Thank you for your explanation, sir."
"I have been watching all the tournament battles today. You and Arthur Castillon are the two Conjurer Mages that will have to join my Gray."
"I understand. Sir, I heard that the soldiers of Bifjorkian Theocracy were waiting to escort Arthur to see the High Priest Zora Faringray."
"She is his mother, nothing wrong with that."
"Oh?"
