Chapter 4: (2/8)
After several seconds of thinking, Kain scratched his head and apologized, "Oops, sorry about that. My ears are still ringing from the last explosion caused by his Flaming Phoenix." Kain put on his innocent smiley face, causing the arena master to forgive him.
In Kain's mind, he was screaming, "Why do my duels keep getting interference every time it gets fun!?"
After Eoran was safely escorted out of the arena by the arena master, the announcer announced, "Let's wait for the Flaming Phoenix to expire then we will continue."
"Next, we have Lora Brightwood. She is thirty years old, and a Conjurer Mage."
"Huh? Another Conjurer Mage, this should be fun." Kain thought to himself.
After Lora walked into the arena, she activated [Second Life] and started chanting for [Conjure Ice Gargoyle].
[Second Life], level 30 Conjuration spell. It costs no mana and can instantly revive a magic caster if that mage dies within ten minutes. However, the magic caster will be revived at a ten percent health pool but with a full mana pool. The bad thing is [Second Life] can only be used once every twenty-four hours. This spell can be self-cast on the Conjurer Mage, or on someone else. It can not be cast on Demi-Humans, summoned creatures, or conjured creatures.
Because Lora was a Conjurer Mage, the announcer gave her a little more time to get ready. After four minutes of waiting, the signal was fired to indicate the battle had started.
Lora activated [Mana Infusion] and then casted [Conjure Ice Gargoyle]. Lora had confidence that her mana pool was large enough to conjure a greatly empowered Ice Gargoyle. The result did not disappoint Lora as she saw a female Ice Gargoyle that had pure white skin was conjured. With a smile on her face, Lora said, "Empress Ice Gargoyle, how lucky."
This Empress Ice Gargoyle had long white hair and a very beautiful face instead of a hairless ugly scary face compared to the one Kain conjured earlier. Empress Gargoyle was physically strong and could be on par with a Saint-tier human warrior. On the magic side, the Empress Gargoyle can cast all Novice, Intermediate, and Master Ice spells. On top of that, the Empress Gargoyle had the ability to heal itself, as well as, mana recovery. In a real battle, ten Saint-tier human warriors would not be matched to a single Empress Ice Gargoyle.
Lora was so happy with the result because normally only a General Ice Gargoyle was conjured. The General Gargoyle has silver skin and can cast Novice, Intermediate, and Master Ice spells. Its physical strength is also on par with a Saint-tier human warrior. However, General Gargoyle does not have the ability to heal itself or mana recovery. On the Empress Ice Gargoyle's right hand is an Ice Scythe with a bright white aura surrounding it. From what Lora has studied, that Ice Scythe can destroy all Novice and Intermediate Fire spells. Similar to regular Ice Gargoyle, the Empress Ice Gargoyle is not immune to any Ice magic spells.
The Empress Ice Gargoyle casted [Summon Ice Guardian]. A human-size ice elemental creature appeared to protect Lora as commanded. The Ice Guardian can only use two spells, [Ice Barrier] and [Ice Spear]. Sounds very weak, but the Ice Guardian is actually one of the strongest defense types in all of the summonable creatures. It can protect itself and a target by spamming [Ice Barrier] or harass an enemy by spamming [Ice Spear]. Sounds fun, isnt it? The bad thing is that the Ice Guardian does not have any physical strength and will fade away after its mana is depleted or upon receiving physical contact. Yup, even a slap in the face would make it fade away. Still, it is not easy to touch the Ice Guardian before breaking through its Ice Barriers. A regular Ice Guardian can cast about seventy-eight [Ice Barrier] or thirty-two [Ice Spear] before it's mana depleted. In world record history, there was an Ice Guardian that could cast a hundred and six [Ice Barrier] or fifty-seven [Ice Spear] before its mana was depleted.
[Summon Ice Guardian], level 30 Ice spell.
Kain was also happy because he had finally felt the pressure. The pressure of possibly losing this battle. For the past six years, no Student Mage could have put this pressure on him. Kain gave the order for his sixty-eight Skeleton Warriors to stand behind him because he did not want to recklessly sacrifice any of them. Kain decided not to abuse using the Blood Pendant too much because some of the high ranking officials from the Mages Council were watching. If Kain cast another [Conjure Ice Gargoyle], it would look very suspicious because a Conjurer Mage at his current level should not have that much mana.
That was why Kain decided to also activate [Mana Infusion] and casted [Conjure Phantom Knight]. This will be the last spell he casted today. He decided to challenge his luck through a little gambling. Searched through his memories, Kain remembers there are many versions of Phantom Knight. If he is lucky to get a strong type, then this gambling will be worth it. If not, Kain still defeated two Student Master Mages. That should be enough to attract the Mages Council. Kain does not give a damn about winning this stupid tournament. He had no reason to win because it does not bring him any kind of real benefit. If it was not for Master Whistler's order, Kain would not come back to this Flumen city. This is where his parents were killed. He will never, ever forget that.
A Phantom Knight appeared in front of Kain. Kain could not recognize what type of Phantom it was because it had never appeared in any books he had read. This Phantom had a beautiful face with long red hair. Kain did not know if it was a female or just a male that looks like a female. Kain used his natural talent for gender investigation by looking at the Phantom Knight's chest. After two seconds of expert investigation, Kain could see the Phantom Knight's boobs. Now Kain knows it's a she, not he. The Phantom does not wear any type of steel armor set but wore just leather clothes. Unlike other Phantom Knights, she does not have blue flames as body parts but actually had a flesh body. However, the skin of her flesh was glowing in cyan color. There was no big greatsword on her back like the other normal Phantom Knights. She had a blue color glowing Astral Bow instead. On the hip, she had a regular size glowing Astral Sword.
Kain asked, "Hey girl, what kind of Phantom Knight are you?"
It does not matter how strong a creature is. After being summoned or conjured into Toria Continents, creatures are forced to obey their summoners or conjurers. Kain could feel a sense of unhappiness in the Phantom Knight's answer, "Human, give me an order quickly. Let me finish fast and banish me back to my realm as I have the stuff to do. I am not here for your stupid chit chat."
