Twin Soul

Chapter 1: (4/7)

Chapter 1: (4/7)

The demon got angrier and started slamming his hands on the grounds hoping to hit the boy but all attacks were missed. Several seconds later, the boy appeared about thirty feet away from the demon and casted [Conjure Phantom Knight], a level 10 Conjuration spell. A figure wearing a black cloth hood, black steel armor, and carrying a big black greatsword appeared.

Jaane looked into the black cloth hood and attempted to see the face of the Phantom Knight out of curiosity. After several seconds, she realized the Phantom Knight has no face. To be actual, the Phantom Knight has no head and no actual body. Its whole body was made up of blue flame.

The demon attempted to attack the boy using its fists but all of its attacks were parried by the Phantom. In a rage, the demon switched its attention toward the Phantom and furiously attacked it using fire punches. Less than a minute later, the Phantom Knight successfully strikes his greatsword sixteen times on the demon's chest. Those attacks were so powerful that they broke the transformation by forcing the demon to transform back into a sixteen years old boy.

While walking toward the older boy, the younger boy gave the command for his Phantom Knight to place its greatsword onto the older boy's neck. After several seconds of talking, the older boy announced himself as the loser and walked away from the dueling ground. The younger boy then banished his Phantom Knight back to the realm where it came from.

"Arthur is so amazing..." Golda quietly whispered.

Jaane immediately asked, "Who is Arthur?"

Ana said, "Arthur Castillon. He is a third-year student of this Mages' Academy. I arrived here two days ago and saw his duel with a fifth-year student of Fire Magic. Needless to say, Arthur won that duel as well."

Calley said, "Arthur is coming over here. Act cool."

Arthur walked past by Jaane and the other girls without looking at them. But he stopped, smiled, and nodded at Adela. Adela also smiled back at Arthur. Arthur did not say anything but continued to walk away heroically. Golda, Ana, Rosa, and Calley were disappointed because Arthur did not even look at them. But how can they get jealous, Adela was the most beautiful girl of them all. Jaane knew someone like Arthur will never pay attention to her anyway because she was just a girl who came from a small village. Her beauty couldn't even compare to any of the other girls here.

Jaane shook her head seeing how the rest of the group was still looking at Arthur's back despite him having walked away for more than twenty seconds. Jaane said, "That Phantom Knight is so scary. I didn't know Conjuration Magic is that powerful."

Adela shook her head and said, "Conjuration Magic requires a longer time to chant and cast. Six days ago, I witnessed a Wind Mage defeat another Conjurer Mage using [Wind Strike], level 1 Wind spell. The duel lasted for about four seconds. If you study more about it, you will know that Conjuration Magic is the weakest type of magic when compared to Fire, Thunder, Wind, Earth, Light, and Black."

Golda said, "It all depends on the magic caster too. If the Conjurer Mage is weak or lacking in battle experience. Then facing defeat against other magic casters is very normal. Not everyone can be like Arthur though."

The girls kept talking about the duel between Arthur and the older boy while continuing to tour around the Mages' Academy. Jaane remained quiet as her thoughts were occupied with excitement because she was ready to learn to become a real magic caster.

Five days later, the Mages' Academy started training new Student Magtes of the year 415,822. There were six classes in total. One class a day, six days a week. There was no school on the seventh day so the students could relax and refresh their minds.

Jaane and her friends have learned how to manage their mana pools in order to cast their first magic spells. It took them a lot of time just to cast a level 1 spell, but they knew practice makes perfect. Even though there was no school on the seventh day, Jaane and her roommates continued to practice hoping to cast their level 1 magic spell quicker.

Two months later. Jaane had learned to quickly cast [Healing Vines], level 1 Earth spell. [Healing Vines] will create vines that appear on the caster or an ally's back to provide active healing for a short period of time. The [Healing Vines] will disappear upon receiving any kind of damages.

On an off day. Jaane was busy practicing her [Healing Vines] spell when suddenly Adela ran into the room and yelled out loud, "Arthur is having another duel next week!"

Golda asked in excitement, "Who is he dueling with next?"

"A guy named Kain Almos. I heard he is a newly transferred student from the Mages' Academy of Lylneise."

Ana asked, "Lylneise? Isn't that the capital city of Grand Duchy of Macmalian? Wait, Almos? Jaane, isn't your last name is Almos too? Perhaps he is your faraway cousin."

Jaane said, "I have never heard my parents mention any faraway cousins."

Rosa asked, "What Elemental Soul does he have?"

Adela said, "Conjurer Soul."

"He will lose for sure. All of the professors of this Mages' Academy admitted that Arthur is a true genius of the Conjuration Magic. Adela, how did you know about this duel? Did they post it on the dueling board?"

"No... Arthur told me."

Jaane and the other girls started laughing. It was no longer a secret that Arthur and Adela liked each other. They have been hanging out a lot for the past two months.

Golda asked, "Why did Arthur accept to duel the new student?"

Adela said, "Actually, Arthur was the challenger."

"Hah? Other Student Mages normally challenged him."

"Yes. Arthur told me that he needed to teach this new student a lesson for daring to call him a weakling."

Ana asked with her eyes open widely, "He did what? Did that new student really dare to call Arthur a weakling? Is this new guy out of his mind? Jaane, your faraway cousin is delusional."

It was not just a simple joke, Ana truly meant it. No one thought Arthur would lose to a newly transferred student from another Mages' Academy. They continued their practice while talking about how Arthur was going to win again in his duel just like all of his previous duels.

In a dorm room of Male Students Building. Kain Bersk, in his false identity as Kain Almos, was deeply meditating. A male student tapped Kain on the shoulder and said, "Hey."

Kain got upset because this fool had interrupted his meditation. Kain opened his eyes, looked around, and saw four male students that he didn't recognize. Kain asked, "What the f**k do you want?"

That male student asked, "Are you the new student that challenged Arthur Castillon to a duel?"

"I did not challenge that weakling, he challenged me. Again, what the f**k do you want?"

"We wanted to give you some insight so you can use it to your advantage to defeat Arthur."

"Oh? Who are you?"
