Chapter 43
C43 – Beat up the Taekwondo Team
“What?”
Upon hearing Wang Xiao’s declaration, Lei Ting was initially taken aback, his face quickly contorting with rage.
So arrogant!
He had never encountered someone so brazen!
To challenge all of them to a one-on-one fight?
Clearly, he didn’t regard these Taekwondo practitioners with any respect!
“Kid, you’ve got quite an ego!”
“Heh, a freshman with such audacity. You’re truly clueless about the danger you’re courting!”
The faces of the Taekwondo Club members behind Lei Ting darkened as they glared at Wang Xiao, their eyes seething with fury.
“Wang Xiao, just because you’ve picked up a few martial arts moves doesn’t mean you can strut around here. We’re all trained in Taekwondo.”
Lei Ting’s face was a picture of disgust as he clenched his fists and addressed Wang Xiao with icy disdain.
“I’m saying this precisely because you’ve all studied Taekwondo. To me, Taekwondo is nothing more than showy moves without substance!”
Wang Xiao responded with a nonchalant shrug, maintaining his composure as he faced Lei Ting and the others.
He had little regard for these Taekwondo enthusiasts. In a land rich with martial arts traditions like China, they had chosen to pursue Taekwondo, a choice he found misguided and pandering to foreign tastes.
“Spot on!”
Soong Ming and the rest of Wang Xiao’s supporters chimed in with their approval, clapping enthusiastically.
Lei Ting’s scowl deepened at the sound of their applause. He fixed Wang Xiao with an icy stare and spoke with a chilling tone, “Fine, since you’re so dismissive of us, I’ll show you the true strength of Taekwondo. But since you’re alone, I won’t take advantage of that. Ju Sen!”
With Lei Ting’s words barely hanging in the air, a towering figure stepped forward from behind him – Ju Sen, the very man Lei Ting had referenced.
“Lei Ting’s letting Ju Sen take the lead? This guy’s in for a world of hurt.”
“Absolutely, Ju Sen is one of our top black belts in Taekwondo. His kicks are powerful and swift; just one could seriously injure his opponent.”
The rest of the Taekwondo Club members murmured among themselves, visibly impressed.
Ju Sen, basking in the attention, stood taller, his face brimming with confidence.
“Ju Sen, he’s all yours.”
Lei Ting clapped Ju Sen on the shoulder and nodded towards Wang Xiao.
“Don’t sweat it, Brother Lei Ting. Just look at how scrawny the guy is. I could squash him with one foot!”
Ju Sen’s rugged face twisted into a sneer as he thumped his chest with disdain.
“Mm-hmm!”
Lei Ting acknowledged with a nod and stepped aside, clearing the space for Wang Xiao and Ju Sen to face off.
“Ready to take a beating, kid?”
Ju Sen’s eyes bore into Wang Xiao with a cold sneer.
“Enough talk. Let’s get this over with. After I deal with you guys, I’ve got more training to do.”
Wang Xiao’s face remained impassive, his voice steady, as if Ju Sen and Lei Ting were barely worth his concern.
“Damn you, you’re asking for it!”
Anger flashed across Ju Sen’s face at Wang Xiao’s words. His fist clenched tightly, he launched a punch straight at Wang Xiao’s face.
“Wang Xiao, watch out!”
Yao Beier, witnessing the scene, couldn’t help but cry out in alarm, cautioning Wang Xiao without a second thought. The moment the words left her lips, she regretted them.
Why am I so concerned about Wang Xiao?
Could others misinterpret my relationship with him?
And if they do, how will I clear up the misunderstanding?
Yao Beier’s mind was a whirlwind of worry, but fortunately, at that moment, everyone was too engrossed in the confrontation to notice her.
Wang Xiao, hearing Yao Beier’s shout, allowed a slight smile to curve his lips. His attention returned to Ju Sen, his demeanor composed as he transformed his right hand into a palm and effortlessly deflected Ju Sen’s punch.
Thud.
The palm and fist met, emitting a muffled collision sound.
Ju Sen felt a surge of formidable power from Wang Xiao’s palm, sending him stumbling back several steps.
“Such incredible strength!”
Ju Sen’s expression grew grave as he murmured to himself.
“Unbelievable, Ju Sen was actually pushed back several steps? How could that be?”
“Ju Sen’s punches are known to pack a punch, not just his kicks.”
Members of the Taekwondo Club looked on in astonishment, voicing their amazement.
“Think you can bring out some real strength for me to take seriously?”
Wang Xiao slowly withdrew his hand, his gaze on Ju Sen cool and detached, his tone even.
“Humph, let’s go again!”
The murmur of the crowd reached Ju Sen, souring his expression. Upon hearing Wang Xiao’s taunt, rage flared within him. Clenching his teeth, he barked out a cold command.
No sooner had he spoken than he sprang into action, legs splayed as he lunged at Wang Xiao. His right leg coiled back, poised like a whip ready to strike.
Whoosh…
As Ju Sen’s legs sliced through the air, they whipped up a piercing wind, showcasing the sheer terror of his kick’s power.
”Now we’re talking!” Wang Xiao’s eyes sparkled with excitement, a slight smile playing on his lips. With a swift motion, he vanished from his spot.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The air was filled with the thunderous claps of legs clashing, the echoes reverberating incessantly.
“Wow, that’s some strength!”
The onlookers gasped in amazement as they watched Wang Xiao and Ju Sen exchange blows.
Lei Ting, observing from the sidelines, furrowed his brow. His skills were on par with Ju Sen’s, and his keen eye outstripped that of his fellow Taekwondo Club members. Seeing Ju Sen’s face turn beet red with each ferocious kick, Lei Ting knew he was giving it his all.
Yet, Wang Xiao seemed to be having an easy time, casually deflecting Ju Sen’s onslaught as if he were merely taking a leisurely walk. His expression remained serene, his breathing even.
It was clear that Wang Xiao was in a league above Ju Sen, merely toying with his opponent.
If Ju Sen couldn’t stand up to Wang Xiao, then what chance did he…
The thought left Lei Ting with a grimace.
”Alright, I’m done warming up. Time to end this in one move,” Wang Xiao declared. He launched a front kick with his left leg, meeting Ju Sen’s foot head-on. With a deft maneuver, he retreated several steps and faced Ju Sen, his demeanor as composed as ever.
In stark contrast, Ju Sen was panting heavily, his face flushed and his breathing erratic.
“How can you still be so composed after fighting this long?” Ju Sen asked, his eyes wide with a mix of panic and disbelief as he stared at Wang Xiao.
”I’ve said it before—your Taekwondo is all flash and no substance.”
Wang Xiao spoke with a dispassionate tone and an indifferent expression. He was too tired to exchange any more words with Ju Sen. With the end of his sentence, he vanished from sight.
“Ju Sen, watch out!”
Lei Ting’s face turned pale as he called out a warning to Ju Sen, but it was already too late.
Wang Xiao had swiftly moved behind Ju Sen, his right leg rocketing towards Ju Sen’s back.
Trouble! Ju Sen realized Wang Xiao’s presence behind him too late. Twisting his body, he attempted to retaliate with a kick.
Bang!
In a flash, a figure was sent hurtling through the air, tumbling several times before crashing to the ground—it was Ju Sen from the Taekwondo Club.
He hit the ground, eyes rolling back as he slipped into unconsciousness.
“Ju Sen!”
Witnessing Ju Sen’s defeat, Lei Ting and the Taekwondo Club members were stunned. They rushed to assess his condition.
“Wang Xiao won? My goodness, Wang Xiao actually took down a black belt Taekwondo master.”
“Wang Xiao is so cool, I want to have your babies!”
The girls from Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four were starstruck, their eyes shining with admiration as they gazed at Wang Xiao.
Indeed, beauties always have a thing for heroes!
“He’s out cold just like that? Can’t take a kick, can he?”
Wang Xiao glanced at the unconscious Ju Sen, shook his head, and chuckled.
“Wang Xiao, you dare injure one of our members. You won’t get away with this so easily today!”
After ensuring Ju Sen was only knocked out, Lei Ting breathed a sigh of relief. He turned to face Wang Xiao with an icy glare.
With a gesture, he signaled the rest of the Taekwondo Club to encircle Wang Xiao.
“What’s the matter? Can’t handle a one-on-one, so you resort to mob tactics?”
Wang Xiao’s lips curled into a faint smile as he eyed the Taekwondo members closing in on him.
The students from Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four were taken aback by the unfolding scene.
Soong Ming and the others gripped their fists tighter. Had Wang Xiao not held them back, they would have jumped into the fray to help him long ago.
“Wang Xiao, you’ve got some impressive skills, but now you’ve managed to anger the entire Taekwondo Club. Brace yourself!”
Lei Ting let out a cold snort towards Wang Xiao, his voice grave. He wasn’t foolish; realizing that Ju Sen was no match for Wang Xiao, he decided it was time for the whole group to step in.
“Prepared? Hmm… It seems you’re the ones who ought to be getting ready.”
Hearing this, Wang Xiao’s lips curled into a smirk, his laughter light.
He wasn’t one to leave problems for later. Since these folks were intent on causing him trouble, he was ready to deal with them once and for all.
