Chapter 36
C36 – Defeat Instructor Lee
Instructor Lee’s expression turned sour when his kick was intercepted. Glancing up, he caught sight of Wang Xiao, clad in camouflage, watching him with a lazy gaze.
Upon hearing Wang Xiao’s remark, Instructor Lee’s face grew even darker, as if his authority had been stomped on. With a cold huff, he snapped, “Kid, who told you to step forward? Do you want to be punished with extra drills too?”
“Classmate, I can handle it. You don’t need to worry about me.”
Before Wang Xiao could respond, Yao Beier gently pulled at his shirt from behind. Her delicate features were pale, yet her eyes shone with unwavering resolve as she spoke defiantly.
Initially, Wang Xiao was simply irked by Instructor Lee’s approach, but Yao Beier’s steadfast gaze struck a chord within his tranquil heart.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be alright.”
He entrusted Yao Beier to a few of her dorm mates, reassuring her with a soothing tone.
Then, turning back to face Instructor Lee with a piercing look, he challenged, “Instructor Lee, I believe there’s a flaw in your training methods.”
“I’m the instructor, and I’ll conduct the training as I see fit!” retorted Instructor Lee, his demeanor icy. He swept a dismissive glance over the Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four students before fixing his scornful eyes on Wang Xiao. “Just look at yourselves—twenty years old and yet so frail. You’re nothing but a bunch of weaklings!”
These words ignited a fire in the students of Class Four. They clenched their fists and glared back at Instructor Lee with righteous indignation.
Each of them had earned their place at Forest City University, a prestigious institution in Jiangnan Province. They were the cream of the crop, each with a sense of pride that refused to accept such humiliation.
”What’s the matter? Can’t handle the truth?” Instructor Lee taunted, his gaze dripping with contempt.
He had always loathed the idea of coming to a university to train these so-called delicate scholars. Only under the captain’s orders had he begrudgingly agreed to this assignment.
Already in a foul mood, discovering that his class was predominantly female only fueled his irritation. As a result, he had been unrelentingly harsh in their training from the very beginning.
“Instructor Lee, show some respect when you speak. You might be our instructor and in charge of our military training credits, but that doesn’t give you the right to insult us at will!”
Wang Xiao faced Instructor Lee with a calm demeanor, his words equally measured.
“Insult? Ha, what if I do insult you?”
Instructor Lee’s expression darkened at the retort, his voice icy.
Did this young upstart really think he could talk back to him like that? He was practically begging for a lesson!
No sooner had he spoken than Instructor Lee retracted his right foot from atop Wang Xiao’s, tensing for a powerful strike.
The air whistled…
In a swift motion, he launched a side kick at Wang Xiao, his foot slicing through the air with a fierce wind.
“Watch out!”
Yao Beier witnessed the scene unfold and shrieked a warning to Wang Xiao.
The faces of the students from Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four tightened with concern.
Instructor Lee had just kicked Yao Beier, but she was a girl, and he likely held back.
But Wang Xiao was a boy who had the audacity to stand up to Instructor Lee. Even if Instructor Lee didn’t intend to be lethal, this kick would certainly pack a punch.
“This is on you!”
Wang Xiao’s expression grew stern as he saw Instructor Lee’s move, his voice cold.
He was already irked by Instructor Lee’s treatment of Yao Beier, and now that Instructor Lee had made the first move, he wouldn’t hold back.
With lightning-fast reflexes, Wang Xiao stepped back and countered with a left front kick, aiming for Instructor Lee’s oncoming leg.
Thud…
The air was filled with another heavy thump of collision.
Instructor Lee’s whipping kick was once again thwarted by Wang Xiao.
“How can this be!”
Instructor Lee was taken aback as Wang Xiao effortlessly parried his kick, his astonishment evident.
He was well aware of his own kick’s velocity and force; even his colleagues would sidestep his blows in sparring!
Yet Wang Xiao had managed not just to deflect it, but…
Instructor Lee felt a twinge of pain in the spot where Wang Xiao’s kick had landed.
The girls from Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four watched, their eyes shining with excitement, as they erupted into cheers.
“Wow, what an impressive move! That guy just blocked Instructor Lee’s kick!”
“Oh my God, is that guy really in our class? What’s his name?”
“I’ve got my eye on this one, so back off, everyone!”
Many lovesick girls in the class couldn’t take their eyes off Wang Xiao’s tall, handsome figure.
“Why would he help me?”
Yao Beier’s cheeks flushed as she gazed, transfixed, at Wang Xiao’s sharply chiseled profile, murmuring to herself in a daze.
Could he possibly like me?
The thought sent a wave of heat across Yao Beier’s face.
How could I entertain such a wild idea?
He’s just a classmate, someone I’ve only known for a single day!
There’s no way he could have feelings for me!
Yao Beier tried to convince herself that the boy before her didn’t harbor any affection for her, yet her eyes involuntarily drifted back to Wang Xiao’s striking presence.
But if he didn’t like her, why would he defend her and confront the instructor?
“Instructor Lee, nothing is impossible. You’ve thrown down the gauntlet, so it’s time to bring your A-game, or you’re going to suffer an ugly defeat.”
Wang Xiao’s lips quirked into a slight smile as he responded coolly to Instructor Lee’s outburst.
His words sent a thrill through the girls of Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four, eliciting a chorus of excited screams.
So cool!
To think he’d talk back to Instructor Lee with such boldness!
”Hmph, talking big might just trip you up,” Instructor Lee retorted, his face clouding over with annoyance.
“The one thing I pride myself on is honesty, and ironically, it’s also my only flaw. When I say I’ll beat you, that’s exactly what I’ll do.”
Wang Xiao gave a nonchalant shrug, his demeanor calm as he addressed Instructor Lee.
“If you manage to beat me, then from this day forward, you’re excused from my military training.”
Instructor Lee’s voice was stern, his challenge to Wang Xiao clear and cold.
He was skeptical of Wang Xiao’s capability to best him.
“And you’ll also agree that starting today, their training will be on par with the other classes.”
Wang Xiao gestured towards his female classmates from Traditional Chinese Medicine System Class Four, speaking to Instructor Lee with a cool detachment.
“Let’s talk about that condition after you’ve managed to defeat me!”
Instructor Lee huffed coldly, his fist clenched tight. With a swift and eerie step, he lunged toward Wang Xiao.
Military Fist!
This time, Instructor Lee was bringing out the Military Fist!
He was determined to teach this youngster a lesson about the unquestionable authority of an instructor.
“Bring it on!”
Wang Xiao’s eyebrows shot up as he, too, vanished from his spot with incredible speed.
Such speed!
Instructor Lee’s face hardened at the sight of Wang Xiao’s rapid movement.
In a blink, Wang Xiao reappeared before him, his right fist clenched, hurtling toward Instructor Lee’s own.
“Choosing to clash with me directly? Heh, you’re overestimating yourself.”
Instructor Lee’s mouth twisted into a smirk. Beyond his daily training in the military, he had taken to pounding stone walls with his fists to increase their hardness.
That’s why he was known in the military as “Iron Fist” Li Ping!
Crash!
Fists met in a collision that, rather than producing a dull thud, rang out with a crisp, metallic clang.
“Huh?” Instructor Lee’s face shifted with surprise, his eyes wide as he stared at Wang Xiao.
So hard!
His fist felt like it had slammed into a slab of iron, the force from Wang Xiao’s punch reverberating powerfully.
Crack!
A faint sound of bone snapping echoed, followed by a sharp pain shooting through his arm.
Instructor Lee’s expression darkened, his teeth clenched as he fought through the pain. Just the recoil from Wang Xiao’s punch had fractured two of his finger bones.
“Instructor Lee, you’ve been defeated!”
Wang Xiao wasn’t about to let up. He looked straight at Instructor Lee and said with a light smile.
No sooner had he spoken than his fist surged with power, hammering down toward Instructor Lee’s fist once more.
The agony of the broken bones flared as Wang Xiao’s fist drove forward, prompting Instructor Lee to hastily retreat a couple of steps.
Whoosh!
But in that moment, another figure was already upon him. A strong leg whipped through the air, and with a thunderous crack, it lashed out.
“Oh no!”
Instructor Lee’s face contorted with alarm as Wang Xiao closed in. By the time he thought to dodge, it was already too late.
Bang!
In the next instant, a muffled thud erupted in the air as a figure was sent flying, slamming into the basketball hoop on the court before finally coming to a halt.
The students of Traditional Chinese Medicine Class Four on the basketball court were all staring with eyes wide open, breaths caught in their throats. The silence was so profound that you could hear a pin drop…
