Chapter 3
C3 – Released That Girl
The Black-clothed Man’s face turned pale as he saw the poison sac being snatched away.
“Ah!”
The excruciating pain, as if his whole body was being torn apart, forced the Black-clothed Man to let out a miserable cry, sending shivers down one’s spine.
Wang Xiao didn’t immediately inquire if the Black-clothed Man was willing to talk. Instead, he dislocated and then reconnected the man’s joints several times before finally stopping.
“How does it feel? Not pleasant, I presume? Do you still want to die?”
Wang Xiao asked the Black-clothed Man, sporting a bright smile.
“Yes, I want to die. It’s the Chen Family… It’s the Chen Family who wanted to kill that girl…”
With his face ashen and lips turning blue, the Black-clothed Man trembled all over, drenched in sweat. He gazed at Wang Xiao with sheer terror, as if facing a devil from hell. In a quivering voice, he confessed the truth.
“Chen Family?” Wang Xiao silently noted the name in his heart upon hearing it.
At this moment, the Black-clothed Man seemed to have a mental breakdown. It grabbed onto the corner of Wang Xiao’s clothes and let out a bitter roar, “Just kill me! Please, end this torture!”
“Sigh, you haven’t confessed yet that you belong to that assassin organization. So, I can’t let you die just yet!”
Upon hearing this, a harmless smile formed on Wang Xiao’s lips as he looked at the Black-clothed Man.
Unexpectedly, when the Black-clothed Man heard Wang Xiao’s words and saw his “devil-like” smile, it rolled its eyes and its body twitched. It was literally frightened to death.
“How did it end up dying of fright? Am I really that terrifying?”
Witnessing the pitiful demise of the Black-clothed Man, Wang Xiao’s mouth twitched slightly, and a wry smile appeared on his face.
Despite the Black-clothed Man’s demise, it didn’t hinder Wang Xiao from gathering information. He examined the dagger in his hand, finding no identifying marks. Opening the man’s shirt, he discovered a mandara flower tattoo on the man’s chest. His eyes lit up, and he whispered to himself.
“A mandara flower, a bloom from the Yellow Springs Road, symbolizing the coexistence of the living and the afterlife…”
“It seems this is the work of a top-tier foreign assassin organization, the Rebirth Camp. I never expected them to start infiltrating already. The old man chased me down the mountain and put me through rigorous training. Is he trying to reestablish the underground order here?”
“Very well, now that we’ve come down from the mountain, it’s time to drive these scumbags away!”
Wang Xiao maintained a faint smile on his lips, but his eyes gleamed brighter with every word he spoke. It was as if he didn’t care at all about the reputed overseas top-class assassin organization, Rebirth Camp.
Casting a glance at the lifeless body of the Black-clothed Man on the ground, Wang Xiao nonchalantly retrieved a small jade bottle. Sprinkling some powder from it onto the corpse, the body boiled and transformed into a pool of blood in the blink of an eye.
With the corpse handled, Wang Xiao turned around and left the scene.
……
The Chen Corporation’s headquarters, situated in the bustling business center of the eastern part of Lin City, rose magnificently over forty stories high. Its stylish glass exterior exuded an air of grandeur.
A number of uniformed security guards patrolled in an orderly manner outside the Chen Corporation building, wielding steel rods with solemn expressions. Their eyes gleamed with determination, and they appeared far from idle. Passers-by, witnessing this scene, looked on with envy, as if being employed by the prestigious Chen Group was a tremendous honor.
The Chen Group, a family-owned enterprise, primarily hired members of the Chen Family as its employees and rarely considered outsiders. Consequently, the entrance requirements were exceptionally stringent.
“I never thought the Chen Group’s security would be this tight. I initially planned to meet with the Manager of the Chen Group.”
Wang Xiao mumbled softly from a discreet spot near the building.
Ultimately, he gave up the idea of sneaking in, reasoning, “Forget it, I’ll leave this matter to Tong Waner’s father. Trying to infiltrate now might only alert the enemy.”
Wang Xiao had already learned about Tong Waner’s background and her father’s influence in the eastern part of the city during his previous meal. The involvement of the Chen Corporation in the attempted assassination of Tong Waner likely had something to do with his “bargain-bin father-in-law.”
……
After leaving the Chen Corporation, Wang Xiao strolled through the streets, under the vast expanse of the high-hanging moon, accompanied by a gentle breeze that brought him a feeling of contentment.
Memories of the old man resurfaced in Wang Xiao’s mind. Every time the elderly man drank, he would recount stories of his past—the world’s foremost god of slaughter, the dreaded Prison Department that instilled fear in all nations…
As the old man finished speaking, his eyes would shimmer with a certain radiance.
Lost in contemplation, Wang Xiao suddenly heard a commotion emanating from a distant alley nearby.
“What do you want to do? Don’t come over!”
Wang Xiao’s brow furrowed, and a glimmer of anger flashed in his eyes. He followed the sound, directing his gaze toward the secluded alley.
“Such a serene and picturesque moonlight, and yet you dare to disturb it in front of me? You’re practically seeking death!”
Wang Xiao coldly snorted, and in a swift motion, he vanished from his original position.
……
In the dimly lit alley, a gorgeous woman clad in a white shirt and a black miniskirt leaned against the wall, her panic evident as she glanced at the gangsters before her. Her body trembled with fear.
“You! If you come any closer, I-I’ll call the police!”
After finishing her task of correcting exam papers at school late into the night, Ding Mengqi, feeling utterly exhausted, had only wanted to make her way back to her apartment, take a quick shower, and get some sleep.
However, she never anticipated encountering these ruffians in this secluded alley. They had cornered her, coercing her to join them for a drink.
“Call the police? Hehe, that depends on whether we feel like giving you that chance.”
The mischievous grins on the faces of the hoodlums were chilling. The ringleader even wiped his mouth, laughing wickedly, and said, “Darling, come have a few drinks with me. Keep me company, and I might consider letting you go.”
“That’s right, just have some fun, and we’ll let you go.”
“Boss, this girl is incredible. I’ve been in the bar scene for years, but never encountered someone like her. And she’s even a teacher.”
The group of thugs chuckled maliciously, their eyes fixated on Ding Mengqi with lustful desire, joined by some sleazy henchmen.
If she had known earlier, she wouldn’t have come closer. What should she do now?
As Ding Mengqi sensed the mischievous gazes of these thugs, regret filled her heart, and her face displayed sheer panic.
She couldn’t bear to let these hooligans defile her; she would rather die.
With this in mind, Ding Mengqi gritted her teeth lightly, her pair of snow-white hands clenched tightly, as if she intended to resist until the very end.
Witnessing the resolute stance of this stunning beauty before them, the hoodlums were initially taken aback, but soon they burst into loud laughter.
“Hey, this girl still wants to put up a fight. Boss, what should we do?”
One of the hoodlums laughed heartily and turned to ask their leader.
“What else can we do? Naturally, we’ll need to play along and let this little beauty have a go at us a few times.”
The leader chuckled playfully, mischief glinting in his eyes.
Hearing this, Ding Mengqi’s fair face turned as red as a ripe apple. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, then charged at the head thug.
However, being just a delicate girl, she couldn’t really harm the leader. Her punch seemed more like an itch to him.
“Beautiful, your punch lacks strength. Are you hesitating to hit me?”
The lead gangster taunted, wearing a mischievous grin. He revealed his hideous scar, making him appear even more menacing.
As he spoke, his large, coarse hand reached out for Ding Mengqi’s delicate pink hand.
“Don’t come over, go away!”
Ding Mengqi’s expression shifted, and her little pink fist quickly retracted. Nervously, she stared at the scar-faced hooligan and spoke with a cold tone, her eyes betraying fear.
“Hehe, little beauty, there’s no escaping tonight. Surrender obediently!”
Observing Ding Mengqi’s pink fists flailing, the scar-faced hooligan seemed provoked. His evil grin widened, and he prepared to forcefully seize her.
“Stop! Release that girl!”
Just then, a voice filled with righteousness echoed through the secluded alley from outside. The speaker’s tone carried an air of valor, as if they were ready to fight to the death for justice.
