Chapter 12
C12 – Nine Serenities Soul Returning Needle
The one who stepped in was Wang Xiao. Seeing Tong Waner in such distress, he couldn’t bear it and had to intervene.
“Wang Xiao, refrain from making baseless assumptions. Father suffered a stroke. Do you think it was a mere common cold or a run-of-the-mill typhoon?”
Tong Tie’s expression darkened as well. He rebuked Wang Xiao with anger, fully aware of this in-law who had joined their family through marriage.
“Hehe, a few needles can cure him, huh? Do you imagine yourself to be the resurrected Hua Tuo? What a joke!”
In the midst of this, another contemptuous chuckle echoed through the room.
Almost unnoticed, Second Aunt Chen Feng and cousin Tong Bin had also arrived. The one who had spoken turned out to be Tong Bin.
“A few needles as a cure? Wang Xiao, are you belittling Elder Dong’s medical expertise?”
Second Aunt Chen Feng addressed Wang Xiao with a sly and malicious tone, her words implicating Elder Dong. She seemed ready to accuse Wang Xiao of disrespecting the elders the moment she opened her mouth.
As expected, Dong Yuan, standing by her side, subtly furrowed his brows and cast a piercing gaze at Wang Xiao.
“Young man, if your medical skills are indeed that remarkable, I’m curious to witness them myself.”
With a low, chilly snort, Dong Yuan’s voice carried a deep undertone as he addressed Wang Xiao.
Observing that Wang Xiao had inadvertently irked Elder Dong, Tong Waner’s lovely face tightened. Swiftly, she grabbed Wang Xiao’s hand and gave him an intense glare.
Sensing Tong Waner’s subtle gestures, Wang Xiao reciprocated with a reassuring look.
Finally, Tong Waner released a sigh of relief. If Big Brother Wang Xiao truly managed to provoke Elder Dong, it could lead to complications in the future.
Yet, in the next moment, Wang Xiao’s words froze Tong Waner’s pretty face in shock.
“From my perspective, there’s no discernible distinction between a stroke and a common cold. Even if Hua Tuo were alive, his medical prowess might not surpass mine.”
Wang Xiao glanced at Tong Tie and Tong Bin, offering a disdainful smile as he continued.
“I haven’t belittled anyone’s medical expertise, because…” He swiftly shifted his gaze to his second aunt, Chen Feng, and Elder Dong, and spoke with a solemn tone, “As far as I see it, those who pursue medical studies nowadays are all mediocre!”
“…” As his second aunt, Chen Feng, and Dong Yuan absorbed his words, their expressions stiffened.
Tong Waner’s stunning eyes widened and her mouth hung open. She had assumed that Big Brother Wang Xiao’s look was a signal that he wouldn’t antagonize Second Uncle, Second Aunt, and Elder Dong.
Well, he had really outdone himself. He had managed to offend all four of them simultaneously!
As expected, within an instant, a flicker of anger emerged on the faces of Tong Tie, Chen Feng, and the others.
“You little b*stard, you’ve got some nerve!”
Even Elder Dong’s face flushed with anger. His quivering finger pointed at Wang Xiao as he uttered his annoyance.
With so many people in the field of medicine, this kid had audaciously insulted them all. His arrogance knew no bounds.
“Whether he’s arrogant or not, you’ll soon find out.”
Wang Xiao paid no heed to the four irate men. Swiftly retrieving a needle pouch from his right hand, he moved towards the elderly man on the bed.
Hm? This needle pouch looked somewhat familiar!
Dong Yuan raised an eyebrow upon spotting the needle pouch in Wang Xiao’s hand. A hint of skepticism flitted across his gaze. He involuntarily looked down and, upon realizing that the needle pouch from his white coat had vanished, his expression immediately shifted.
“My needle pouch is in that kid’s possession? When did he manage to take it? Why didn’t I notice?”
Three questions sprang up in Dong Yuan’s mind all at once. Just then, Wang Xiao’s voice resounded again.
“Elder Dong, pay close attention!”
At this juncture, Wang Xiao cast a brief glance at Elder Dong. Several silver needles were already in his grasp, and he spoke with a calm tone.
With those words, Wang Xiao’s countenance turned chilly. Swiftly flipping his right hand, the silver needles transformed into glints of icy light, descending upon the elderly man’s body.
His hands moved nimbly amid the silver needles like a serpentine dancer.
“Hehe, I assumed you were remarkably capable. Yet, you’re just like Elder Dong, targeting the same pressure points.”
Witnessing this, a scornful smile tugged at the corner of Tong Bin’s lips as he looked down on Wang Xiao.
Though unfamiliar with acupuncture techniques, he could discern that the positions where Wang Xiao placed the needles matched those that Elder Dong had used.
“Shut up!”
In this moment, Elder Dong’s demeanor grew earnest as he shouted at Tong Bin.
“Grandpa Dong, I’m only speaking on your behalf. Why are you reprimanding me?”
Tong Bin adopted a wronged expression as he addressed Elder Dong.
“You’re unaware of the whole situation. It’s not your fault. But refrain from uttering nonsense!” Dong Yuan glared at Tong Bin, his voice resonating with gravity. “This lad is employing the legendary Nine Serene Soul Returning Needle. It’s been lost for ages. I didn’t expect to witness it today.”
Dong Yuan’s eyes glistened like a devoted worshipper beholding a goddess long admired.
“Well, Chief Elder Dong, you’re quite knowledgeable to recognize the Nine Serenities Soul Returning Needle.”
Wang Xiao also turned towards Dong Yuan, offering his praise.
“I chanced upon it while perusing an ancient tome. My knowledge on it is limited!”
Dong Yuan humbled himself, offering a slight bow to Wang Xiao.
“Haha, then today, I’ll allow you to witness its prowess. Your progress will rely on your diligence.”
Wang Xiao’s smile was understated as he addressed Dong Yuan.
“I’ll take this seriously!”
Dong Yuan displayed earnestness, affirming his commitment to Wang Xiao.
The room’s occupants were all taken aback.
One was the director of Forest City People’s Hospital, and the other was a recent high school graduate. The latter also happened to be part of the Tong Family by marriage.
Mere moments ago, the former had worn an expression of anger. However, within the next breath, he was bowing to the latter.
Even more astonishingly, neither of them found this change in demeanor to be peculiar.
What’s the matter? Is there something awry in this world?
“Big Brother Wang Xiao is incredible. To earn such high praise for his medical skills from Grandpa Dong is truly impressive.”
Tong Waner’s pure white face was beaming with delight. She regarded Wang Xiao with a deep sense of admiration.
“Voyaging through the Ninth Underworld, the King of Hell reincarnate!”
Wang Xiao had his undivided attention on the elderly man lying on the bed. His fingers blurred into shadows as he firmly pressed onto the old man’s chest.
Dong Yuan, observing from the side, had a glint of golden light in his eyes. His entire body quivered as if he were witnessing something wondrous.
“Look, there are bloodlines emerging on the old man’s body.”
At that moment, his second aunt, Chen Feng, seemed to have spotted something and exclaimed in astonishment.
Both Tong Tie and Tong Waner turned their gaze in the direction indicated by Second Aunt.
Indeed, beneath each silver needle on Grandfather’s body, black bloodlines began to manifest.
These ebony lines swiftly expanded, hinting at the possibility of interconnecting with the other bloodlines.
“Wang Xiao, what have you done to the old man? Are you attempting to harm him?”
Witnessing this, Second Aunt Chen Feng’s face contorted with severity. She charged forward, intent on removing the bloodlines from the old man’s body.
“Get out!”
At the pivotal moment, Wang Xiao’s expression turned grim. With a powerful smack, he sent Second Aunt Chen Feng hurtling through the air. She collided with a nearby bookshelf before coming to a halt.
“Wang Xiao, you’re asking for trouble!”
Witnessing Chen Feng being struck, Tong Bin’s countenance grew dark. He balled his fist, poised to retaliate against Wang Xiao.
“Hold it right there, Wang Xiao can’t be disturbed right now!”
In that instant, Dong Yuan reacted and shouted at Tong Bin.
“It’s done!”
By this time, Wang Xiao had finally completed the most crucial step of the Nine Serene Soul Returning Needle. He stashed away the silver needles he had used on the elderly man and announced.
All eyes were fixed on Tang Suit Old Man’s body, where numerous black blood vessels had converged at a single point. Over the Shangyang Acupoint on his right hand, Wang Xiao took up a small knife and pricked his finger, allowing the black blood to flow out.
“As expected of the Nine Serenities Soul Returning Needle. It can amass all the blood clots in a stroke patient’s body and then expel them!”
Dong Yuan’s aged face brimmed with emotion. His eyes shone with amazement as he spoke.
“Hmph, what’s the big deal? Didn’t the old man still not wake up?”
In that instant, Tong Bin had already helped Chen Feng up and shot Wang Xiao a frosty look.
“Uhm… Where are we?”
Simultaneously, a voice ancient and solemn resounded from the other side of the bed, causing Tong Bin’s expression to immediately stiffen.
“Grandfather, you’re awake?”
Witnessing her grandfather’s wakefulness, Tong Waner’s face lit up with joy. She drew closer to Elder Tong and exclaimed with delight.
“I… What happened to me?”
Elder Tong’s complexion appeared somewhat pallid. With Tong Waner’s assistance, he sat up and inquired.
“Elder Tong, your heart was blocked just moments ago, and it was nearly impossible to recover. Even I couldn’t have managed to save you. It’s all thanks to the young man that Waner brought that the Qi and blood flow in your body was restored.”
Holding onto Elder Tong’s hand, Dong Yuan said with deep emotion. Tears welled in his aged eyes.
“So that’s the situation. Young man, I owe you my life for saving me.”
As Old Tong grasped the circumstances, he couldn’t help but turn his gaze towards Wang Xiao, examining him from head to toe. A glint of appreciation flickered in his elderly eyes as he expressed his heartfelt gratitude.
