Chapter 112: The Razor-Sharp Edge!
Chapter 112: The Razor-Sharp Edge!
The eastern district of Divine Fortune City was plunged into chaos!
Under the command of Hall Master Meng Qiulan, the meticulously planned operation went into action and poison powder rained down in a mist.
Even the Shadow Specter Sect members charging toward the beast-hunting sailboat could not help but glance back at the spear-wielding Pang Jian.
Commander Fan Liang had told them that the most crucial battle would happen on Musical Instrument Street.
The outcome of the fight with the Blood Moon Sect's Fei Zheng would determine the success of their ambush!
The spear-wielding youth named Hong Jian had successfully persuaded Hall Masters Meng Qiulan and Zhao Ling to stay in Divine Fortune City and act, even after Yang Yuansen and his group encountered trouble.
"Hong Jian!" Meng Qiulan called out.
"That's Hong Tai's nephew!"
"He's much more formidable than Hong Tai ever was!"
The Shadow Specter Sect members frequently looked back at Pang Jian as they rushed toward the beast-hunting sailboat.
Bright, silver halos appeared in succession, hanging in the night sky of the Fourth World like moons.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Blood-colored clouds twisted into thin snakes, attempting to bypass the halos of the Silver Crescent technique to devour Pang Jian's flesh.
Pang Jian retreated.
He relentlessly spun the Startling Slaughter Spear, creating more silver halos to defend against Fei Zheng's techniques.
After escaping from the Explosive Dance, Fei Zheng, now able to unleash his full strength, shifted from defense to offense.
With each wave of Fei Zheng's hand, he used the Bloodthirsty Cloud Technique, forming clusters of blood-colored clouds from the blood of the two women that flew toward Pang Jian.
The bright silver halos intercepted Fei Zheng's furious assault.
Bang! Bang!
The blood-colored clouds collided with the silver halos. Pang Jian tightly gripped his spear, his arms going numb from the shock as he fought to dissipate the attacking force.
Fei Zheng was about to intensify his efforts when he felt his spiritual power and blood energy stagnate.
He spat out a mouthful of blood.
This mouthful of blood transformed into a blood arrow that shot toward Pang Jian like lightning.
Pang Jian spun his spear and skillfully shattered the blood arrow. He then merged the earthflame energy from the fiery pool in his spiritual sea with his spiritual power and became one with the Startling Slaughter Spear.
A streak of silver lightning shot straight at Fei Zheng!
Fei Zheng's face paled in horror.
He felt an unstoppable, razor-sharp spear intent. His eyes stung just looking at the spearhead!
Pang Jian was moving so fast he seemed to disappear, leaving only a streak of silver lightning cutting through the sky toward him!
Fei Zheng hastily tore a hexagonal iron plate from his waist to block Pang Jian's Edge of Startling Slaughter.
The hexagonal iron plate expanded to a dozen times its original size, turning into a large, dark hexagonal shield with a cold metallic sheen.
An intricate bloody pattern formed many sturdy arrays on the surface of the black shield.
Pang Jian paid it no mind.
The wonders of the Edge of Startling Slaughter were fully displayed as he fiercely thrust the spearhead at the giant hexagonal shield.
The spearhead made contact with the shield, causing dazzling red and silver lights to burst out!
Bang!
The hexagonal shield exploded with a thunderous roar, shattering into scattered fragments.
In the chaos, Fei Zheng managed to grab one of the larger fragments and used it to shield himself.
Boom!
The Startling Slaughter Spear pierced through the surface of the shield once more!
Pang Jian pushed off with his feet and surged forward with unstoppable momentum!
Fei Zheng gripped the spear shaft behind the spearhead with both hands to prevent it from spearing through his forehead.
Pang Jian's terrifying strength forced Fei Zheng back.
Fei Zheng's eyes and hands turned crimson, and blood flowed uncontrollably from the corners of his eyes as he used a forbidden technique of the Blood Moon Sect, sacrificing his life force to hold back the spear.
The spearhead was so close to his forehead that it tingled from the imminent threat of being pierced through!
Crash!
Fei Zheng's back crashed through a wall, causing a stone building to collapse. Even so, he continued to hold the spear shaft tightly.
Rumble!
Rubble fell, but Fei Zheng did not let go. He knew that any weakness on his part would result in his skull being impaled!
You're destined to die, thought Pang Jian as rubble continued to rain down on Fei Zheng. He then unleashed the most sinister technique of the Startling Slaughter Spear.
The spearhead suddenly detached from the spear shaft, piercing through Fei Zheng's forehead!
It then automatically returned and reattached itself to the spear shaft.
With that, Pang Jian took a step back.
Fei Zheng's body was buried under the rubble.
Boom!
A person with a powerful pair of long legs jumped down from a nearby building, smashing the hard stone slabs with their landing.
Even without looking, Pang Jian knew it was Zhao Ling from the Shadow Specter Sect.
"Fei Zheng!" she roared after landing.
Before leaping down, she saw Pang Jian forcing Fei Zheng backward. He had still been tightly gripping the spear shaft when he crashed into a stone building and was buried in the rubble. She did not see Pang Jian's spearhead detach and kill Fei Zheng.
Unaware that Fei Zheng was already dead, she wielded an iron staff, ready to join forces with Pang Jian to finish him off. But Fei Zheng did not rise from the rubble.
"He's dead," Pang Jian said coldly.
Turning around, he saw Zhao Ling, the Hall Master of the Shadow Specter Sect, poised like a leopard ready to pounce and wielding a blue iron staff that crackled with lightning.
His words stunned her.
"Dead?" she asked, still eyeing the rubble.
Pang Jian noted in surprise, "It seems you launched the attack ahead of schedule."
According to the plan, the Shadow Specter Sect would only attack the Blood Moon Sect after Fei Zheng's death. Pang Jian had not expected the Shadow Specter Sect to act while his fight with Fei Zheng was still ongoing.
The Hall Master Zhao Ling had even leaped down from the building in preparation to lend him a hand.
Zhao Ling did not answer his question. Her beautiful eyes flashed, cautiously watching the rubble as she skeptically asked, "Is he really dead? Don't underestimate a peak Marrow Cleansing Realm cultivator. Unless his heart or head has suffered a fatal blow—"
Bang!
Before she could finish, Pang Jian used his spear to flick away the rubble, revealing Fei Zheng's body lying beneath.
Fei Zheng's gruesome bloodied forehead instantly caught Zhao Ling's eye!
She could not say anything after that.
"Spatial pouch!" Pang Jian exclaimed as he noticed the spatial pouch on Fei Zheng's waist. He went over and yanked it off.
Reaching inside, he found several containers filled with an unknown liquid. When he pulled his hand out, he saw it was stained with thick blood, and his eyes lit up.
"Beast blood!" he said excitedly.
Pang Jian had suspected Fei Zheng would have beast blood in his spatial pouch.
Before he could properly investigate, an urgent cry rang out from the beast-hunting sailboat's deck.
"Zhao Ling! Hong Jian!" Meng Qiulan called out.
Zhao Ling and Hong Jian glanced over to see her fighting three peak Marrow Cleansing Realm cultivators from the Blood Moon Sect.
When Fei Zheng did not rise from the rubble, the trio decided not to head to Musical Instrument Street and instead joined forces to fight Meng Qiulan and Wu Yi.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted in other parts of Divine Fortune City. Cries and flames filled the air as the members of the Shadow Specter Sect caused havoc.
"Coming!" Zhao Ling's nimble figure swiftly leaped past Pang Jian. Lightly touching the ground, she jumped onto the eaves of a stone building and soon landed on the deck of the beast-hunting sailboat to join forces Meng Qiulan and Wu Yi.
Pang Jian discreetly glanced at a white porcelain bottle perched on the window of a building then rushed to the sailboat as well.
"Seems like he got some beast blood." Luo Hongyan smiled. Her ethereal figure materialized from a bloody mist and hovered in the air. "The souls of peak Marrow Cleansing Realm cultivators make for excellent Spirit Devils."
Whoosh!
Shrouded in a bloody mist, she gracefully descended into shadowed rubble and extracted Fei Zheng's soul. She then left an imprint on it with her divine sense.
After Zhao Ling and Pang Jian left, no one paid attention to Musical Instrument Street anymore. Thus, no one noticed a stunningly beautiful blood-red shadow moving through its dark corners.
The only silent observer was a blood-red crescent moon on a pitch-black flag. It noticed everything from Fei Zheng's death, the Shadow Specter Sect's ambush, to Luo Hongyan's appearance.
"Ah, the Eye of Imprint." Luo Hongyan chuckled, captivating gaze fixed on the fluttering flag.

"Hong Jian!" Meng Qiulan cried out.
"Master!" Bai Wei and Bai Zhi called from the second floor of the beast-hunting sailboat. The pair waved excitedly, faces filled with joy.
They had originally thought that only Pang Jian had come and were surprised to see so many Shadow Specter Sect members rushing out from the nearby houses and buildings.
It felt like they were in a dream.
Meng Qiulan glared at the sisters. "Can't you two careless girls be more cautious? What are you shouting for?"
Distancing herself from her opponent, Meng Qiulan prepared to regroup and launch another attack.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A cluster of fiery meteors struck a Blood Moon Sect cultivator in the early stage of the Marrow Cleansing Realm. The pungent smell of sulfur permeated the air as the Blood Moon Sect cultivator howled in agony.
Meng Qiulan was stunned when a spear-wielding figure darted past her, heading straight for the cabin of the beast-hunting sailboat.
"Hong Jian!" Meng Qiulan exclaimed.
With Zhao Ling's arrival, she and Wu Yi could each take on an early-stage Marrow Cleansing Realm opponent.
Meng Qiulan was confident in her ability to kill her opponent, but she knew it would not be easy!
Meanwhile, Pang Jian effortlessly killed the Blood Moon Sect cultivator with only a few explosive fiery meteors from his spear!
"This boy..." Meng Qiulan muttered as she glanced at her two still-cheering disciples on the second floor. Perhaps Bai Wei and Bai Zhi would be better off with Pang Jian than with her.
"Hong Jian, we're fine!"
"We're here!"
Bai Wei and Bai Zhi eagerly waved at Pang Jian.
However, Pang Jian just glanced indifferently at them before heading into the cabin of the beast-hunting sailboat instead of coming up to help them.
"Sister, it seems we were just imagining things," Bai Zhi said in a mix of embarrassment and disappointment.
