Chapter 99: It’s a Girl
Chapter 99
The armies on both sides retreated, leaving enough space for the two people who were about to compete.
The Third Prince stood on the left, wielding twin axes, his muscular arms bulging, clearly a man of great strength.
Gong Xiaohua stood on the right, wielding twin knives, looking far too weak in comparison.
"The opponent is simply overconfident. Our Third Prince has trained in martial arts with 'Ghost Grandpa' since childhood. Now he has surpassed even his teacher. This is just courting death, but no one can stop him. At least this way we can easily take down their thousands of troops," said a colonel in the Dawei army.
Another responded, "He's walking into his own grave. But this is good - we can take down their troops without breaking a sweat."
"Second brother, the opponent looks formidable in martial skill, and the Lady has been fighting continuously. I'm rather worried about what will happen," said Qin Eleven.
What Qin Eleven said was exactly what Second Prince was worried about too.
"Hmm, if things look bad later, I'll hold off the opponent while you swiftly take the Lady away. The rest can only blame their fate," he sighed.
"Yes."
Gong Xiaohua looked at her opponent. They were only two to three meters apart. Her opponent wielded twin axes.
The slashing power of axes was naturally greater than knives, and with the opponent's strength, it would be even more formidable.
In her current state, having fought continuously, she had expended too much energy. If she let herself get tied down by the opponent, she would only perish from exhaustion in the end.
To win, it was best to take the initiative to attack swiftly and decisively.
Fortunately, her weight had been reduced significantly, so while her agility was not like her previous life's, it was still decent.
Also, in this life, the original owner had great strength, which she had inherited, so even though she was thinner now, her strength had not diminished one bit.
Gong Xiaohua struck first, stepping forward with her left foot and leaping up. Her right hand stabbed with a knife towards the opponent's chest while her left hand held a knife behind her back.
The Third Prince had not expected her to take the initiative to attack with a knife. He swung his axe to block her assault.
But just as her knife reached the front of his body, the blade suddenly turned, spinning under his wrist. Her body nimbly twisted to his left in a bizarre posture, perfectly evading his attack from the left.
At the same time, her right hand struck at the axe in his left hand. Her left hand knife spun upwards from below his ribs, slicing towards his neck.
Although the Third Prince was burly, his speed was not weak either. His left foot swiftly retreated one step as he leaned back to dodge her twin knife assault narrowly.
"Didn't expect a sissy like you to have some skills. Now it's my turn to attack. Take this!"
As soon as he finished speaking, his left axe flew out in a horizontal slash towards Gong Xiaohua's neck.
With a clang, Gong Xiaohua's right knife blocked vertically and collided with the axe.
The impact forced her back several steps before she could barely steady herself. The opponent's strength was indeed terrifying.
Seeing that she had only retreated a few steps after taking his full powered strike head on, the Third Prince realized that despite looking weak, the sissy actually had considerable strength too.
Thus, he put aside any contempt and became serious, exchanging earnest moves against her with his axe.
He leapt forward swiftly, rising into the air, and swung his axe down forcefully.
Instead of bracing hard, Gong Xiaohua dodged nimbly to get behind the opponent. A sweeping kick aimed at his left hand, blocking him from pulling out the axe he had just flung to the ground.
The Third Prince immediately spun his body 180 degrees to the side. His right axe chopped upwards from below towards Gong Xiaohua's waist. Gong Xiaohua blocked forcefully with both knives.
Gong Xiaohua's brows knitted tightly. The opponent's moves, strength and speed were all formidable. He was skilled in both offense and defense.
She needed to find an opportunity for a decisive strike.
At this moment, she swung the opponent's axe open forcefully and sped up her attacks. In a flash, axe and knife collided, sparks flying everywhere.
Her twin knives were fierce, unleashing move after move relentlessly without pause. Her blade sliced through the air, giving off a piercing whistle.
The axe swung with vigorous might, shattering her attacks one after another, not losing out at all.
In the blink of an eye, they exchanged dozens of moves, yet were still evenly matched.
Outside the arena, everyone watched the two battling furiously. It was a contest between experts, thrilling move after move, so exciting that for a moment, they forgot they were on a battlefield.
Watching the fight, Second Prince of Dawei remarked to his trusted aide, "General Wan did not die unjustly by her hand."
"Indeed, there are few who can last this many exchanges against the Third Prince. Unfortunately, her stamina is clearly flagging. She will fall before long."
But he underestimated Gong Xiaohua's grit and her overly calm mind.
In every exchange, she ceaselessly sought flaws in her opponent.
Sure enough, when she intentionally exposed her shoulder as bait, forcefully taking a palm strike from the opponent's left hand.
A stabbing pain shot through her body and blood flowed from the corner of her mouth, but she paid it no heed. Grabbing hold of the opponent's left hand, she leapt up. Midair, she flipped over hollowly and stabbed down ferociously in a unified man-knife stroke.
Cries of alarm rang out from the audience.
"Don't hurt my third brother!" Second Prince yelled loudly.
"Third Prince!" The Dawei army shouted.
Gong Xiaohua's knife diverted its angle and she landed on the ground.
A single knife now hung against the Third Prince's neck.
"You lost," said Gong Xiaohua.
The Third Prince froze. He had not expected to lose to a sissy. Standing still, he was at a loss for words for a long time.
When Gong Xiaohua's black hair scattered wildly in the aerial maneuver, it revealed an exquisitely fair face.
A sudden silence descended on the scene until Second Prince spoke. "So you're actually a girl. How interesting, truly interesting."
Even Second Prince who was used to seeing countless beauties could not help but be attracted to her, not because she was a country-toppling beauty, but because they had never seen such an extraordinary girl before.
Both armies also broke into surprised clamor, voicing their wonder.
Seeing a girl on the battlefield was nothing new, but one who exceeded men in martial arts was a first.
Hearing that his opponent was actually a girl, the Third Prince was even more discomposed. His glorious reputation would be ruined today.
He must remember her looks. He would definitely find an chance in the future to compete with her again and defeat her.
But when he turned to look behind, an overly handsome face rushed into his mind. His eyes widened and he froze.
"Second Prince?" Gong Xiaohua addressed the commander of the opposing force.
"You may leave. I still have enough grace to allow this much. But you won't be so lucky next time."
"Thank you."
Gong Xiaohua sheathed her knives and bid the Third Prince, "Excuse me." Then she turned and swiftly retreated with the Danye troops.
Seeing his third brother still frozen stiff, Second Prince called, "Third brother?"
Hearing his elder brother call, the Third Prince finally snapped out of it. "Sorry, Second Brother. My skills were inadequate and I lost."
"It matters not. Three thousand soldiers are still beneath my notice. What a pity the talent turned out to be a girl."
The Third Prince watched Gong Xiaohua's retreating figure until she disappeared from view before he turned and walked back to his Second Brother, unaware of the spring in his own step.
