Chapter 424
Chapter 424 - "My daughter did not come home for the New Year." (3)
Feng Zeyu’s men sent over news quickly. Li Shuyu rarely goes elsewhere other than school and work. She had two part-time jobs, one was a tutoring job and she had already told them that classes will resume after school starts. The other was her job at the coffee shop but the coffee shops closed on the 29thand won’t be reopening until the 6th.”
The last call was to her teachers. They asked a few of them and finally found out that her roommate found a job and had also referred Li Shuyu to work there.
“Got it. It was a job at a club.” Feng Zeyu hung up on the phone and said to Shu Yan in a low voice.
Club? Shu Yan didn’t think that Aunty’s daughter would go and work at a club. Not that anyone who worked a ta club are necessarily bad but from what Aunty had told her in the past, her daughter was timid and shy. It didn’t make sense that she would work at a club.
Feng Zeyu nodded. He took a look at Aunty who was still anxiously waiting for any words and asked Shu Yan wordlessly whether they should tell that to Aunty.
“That’s her daughter. We have to tell her.” Shu Yan made the decision immediately.
Aunty’s body rocked a little when she found out that her daughter was working at a club. She shook her head at a loss. “That’s not possible. My Xiao Yu would not work at a place like that.”
Feng Zeyu’s cellphone rang. He gave Shu Yan a look and went to take the call on the patio. He returned after a little while and said, “They found her but she wouldn’t leave with my men.”
“I’ll go look for her.” Aunty took a deep breath.
Shu Yan worried about Aunty so she asked Feng Zeyu to come with.
Aunty had mentioned her daughter to Shu Yan many times in the past but it was the first time Shu Yan had seen her in person. Her hair was slightly curly and she had light makeup on. She had on a red dress with sequins on the inside, a white fur over it, and a pair of high heels. Anyway she looked at her, Shu Yan could not put her together with Aunty’s simple and pure daughter that Aunty had talked about.
Li Shuyu’s lips trembled when she saw her mother. She couldn’t get a word out and finally, she lowered her head and remained silent.
She didn’t say a word but she broke Aunty’s heart more than if she had spoken.
“Let’s go...... come home with me.” Aunty went and grabbed Li Shuyu.
“Aye, who are you? Did I say that you can take anyone with you?” A woman with heavy makeup walked over twisting her waist from side to side.
“What am I? I am her mother and I don’t need your permission to take my daughter home.” Aunty found this woman very repulsive and wanted to drag her daughter out with her.
The woman clapped her hands and four large men showed up and had them surrounded. “You are right about that. You do need my permission.” The woman chuckled and walked over to Li Shuyu. She gave Aunty a look and said in a contemptuous way, “You can ask your daughter whether she can leave without my permission.”
Aunty looked over at her daughter, “What does she mean by that?”
Li Shuyu kept her head lowered and didn’t say a word.
“I can fill you in if she didn’t want to. She signed a contract with us and must work here for three years. If she wants to leave, she will have to pay us 10,000 yuan to cover the penalty for breaching the contract. Pay me and you can leave with her.”
“You are a bunch of liars. You said it was just a temporary job but it wasn’t that at all.” Li Shuyu, who had her head down the entire time, suddenly snapped.
Li Shuyu knew that her mother had worked very hard to raise her. After she had started college, she wanted to be able to earn her own expenses and would take up jobs over summer and winter vacations so as to lift some of the burdens off her mother. Before the winter break last year, her roommate told her that she had found a great job that paid 10 yuan per hour. Li Shuyu found that suspicious right away. What kind of job would pay that much? She declined it instantly when she heard that it was working at a club.
