Chapter 419 - Single for His Whole Life

Chapter 419: Single for His Whole Life

“Sure thing.” Wei Zhiqian smiled and put Tan Mo down.

“Seeing how everyone is challenging this five-star stage, I’m sure everyone is experienced, right?” Fang Shuyang suddenly asked in a loud voice.

Tan Mo couldn’t help but frown, wondering what he was planning to do.

The lady turned and tugged Wei Zhiqian’s collar. He lowered his head. Tan Mo whispered, “Don’t you think this Fang Shuyang is trying too hard to show off? Has he been single his whole life or what?”

“…”

Wei Zhiqian kept a poker face, but deep down in his heart, he was a little hurt. It felt like she was talking about him as well.

Did she forget that she was with a man who had been single his whole life? Wei Zhiqian sighed.

However, unlike Fang Shuyang, Wei Zhiqian wasn’t planning on showing off or being the center of attention. He was just there to accompany Tan Mo and protect her.

“We’ve never played this type of game before. This is our first time,” Wei Zhiqian said.

“Really?” Xin Kaiqi exclaimed. “You two sure have some guts to challenge the hardest stage as your first game!”

As for Fang Shuyang, he was slightly upset, seeing Tan Mo and Wei Zhiqian as someone who would slow him down.

‘Dumbasses! If this is your first time, you guys should play the two or three-star stages!’

However, when he turned to glance at Tan Mo, he quickly swallowed his pride. He needed to impress her, and he wouldn’t be able to do that if she wasn’t there.

“No worries.” Fang Shuyang forced a smile. “You just have to be extra careful. It’ll take some time, but you’ll quickly get the hang of it.”

“He’s not wrong,” Xin Kaiqi agreed with a warm smile and pointed at Fang Shuyang. “This man here is a master of escape rooms. He can help us get out of here easily.”

Fang Shuyang had an arrogant smile on his smug face despite his effort to try and hide it. “Come on. This is still my first time trying this stage. We should all work together to solve the puzzles. The reason I asked that question is so that we can choose someone to lead the team. We’ll be able to complete this stage quicker with a leader. It would be okay if this is a normal setting, but since it’s a horror one, we might separate from each other when the actors jump out. With a leader, we should be able to clear the game faster.”

“I’m fine with it.” Wei Zhiqian faintly smiled. “Since we’re newbies, all we hope is that we won’t slow everyone down. It would be best if someone could help us win the game.”

Tan Mo quickly turned to stare at Wei Zhiqian with her mouth wide open. She couldn’t believe he was trying to keep a low profile.

In the end, they all decided that Fang Shuyang, the person who liked to stand out the most, should be the leader.

The others were too lazy to even want to fight for the position.

Liu Yuehao and Shi Zhixia were on a date. They wouldn’t even want to waste their time on something like leading a team.

As for Yu Xiaonan and Zhou Jieyu, they both had their own goals.

Fang Shuyang now had a satisfied expression on his face.

“Right! The staff member did say that if anyone wants to quit midway, they can press the button on their bracelets. But why can’t we just take the elevator?” Yu Xiaonan asked as she pointed at the elevator they had just come in. “If we really can’t clear this game, why not just use the same elevator?”

“Well, there’s no button for us to call for the elevator,” Tan Mo said, realizing that there was no button outside the elevator as soon as she walked out of it.

Yu Xiaonan quickly ran back to check, and it was just as Tan Mo had said.

“D-don’t tell me that we can’t leave through that elevator…” Shi Zhixia wailed as she grabbed Liu Yuehao’s arm tightly. “I shouldn’t have agreed to this! We should’ve chosen an easier stage!”

“Don’t worry. Let’s look for the entrance to the next stage first before looking for clues on how to open the entrance,” Fang Shuyang said. “Let’s split up for now.”

The reason he suggested splitting up was so he could be alone with Tan Mo.

“I’ll be in the same group with Wei Qian!” Yu Xiaonan raised her hand and said. “It’s better to mix guys and girls together. We’ll feel safer that way.”

Wei Zhiqian frowned and sighed. “Why don’t you join Fang Shuyang or Xin Kaiqi? I came here with Momo. There’s no reason to separate.”

“But… I’m scared…” Yu Xiaonan acted as if she was about to cry.

“If you’re scared, then you should join the best player here,” Tan Mo said with an innocent smile. “Fang Shuyang is the most experienced out of all of us. He’ll be able to protect you.”

“Well, that settles it.” Liu Yuehao finally couldn’t stand it anymore.

He could not believe that he actually ran into some attention seekers like Fang Shuyang and Yu Xiaonan on his date. They pretty much ruined his mood.

“I’ll check there with Momo.” Wei Zhiqian pulled Tan Mo away from the group, not giving Yu Xiaonan and Fang Shuyang any chance to stop them.

“So… Are you coming with me?” Fang Shuyang asked Yu Xiaonan despite not wanting to party up with her.

“No, thanks. I’m fine with Jieyu,” Yu Xiaonan grunted.

Noticing that Yu Xiaonan was trying to avoid him, Fang Shuyang instantly felt annoyed.

Not wanting to waste any more time, Fang Shuyang decided to start looking for clues with Xin Kaiqi.

On the other hand, Tan Mo and Wei Zhiqian made a discovery.

“Is that the entrance to the second stage?” Tan Mo exclaimed.

Wei Zhiqian nodded.

“Uncle! You’re amazing!” Tan Mo looked at Wei Zhiqian as if he was God.

“You brat. It wouldn’t even be hard for you to find it. You’re just lazy,” the man jokingly scolded.

Even though this was their first time playing this game, it was too easy for people as smart as they were.

Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo were the types of people who could outshine experience with IQ.

“Are you serious?” Fang Shuyang and the others quickly grouped up at where Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo were. “Are you two really first-timers?”

He was starting to think that the uncle and niece duo were just pretending to be newbies.

“It’s because he is smart,” Tan Mo proudly said.

It only embarrassed Fang Shuyang even more. “I-is that so? Let’s look for clues on how to open the door then.”

Wei Zhiqian didn’t say a word. Instead, he walked toward the door and entered the six-digit code on the lock.

With the sound of a click, the door opened.

Fang Shuyang was even more speechless and began to wonder if Wei Zhiqian was doing it on purpose by not telling everyone that he had the code.

“Who knew we would actually team up with someone this good?” Shi Zhixia whispered to Liu Yuehao.

Even though it was a whisper, it was still loud enough for everyone to hear.

Now, Fang Shuyang was already trying to hide his face.

“Let’s go.” Ignoring the rest of the group, Wei Zhiqian grabbed Tan Mo’s hand and led her into the next room.

The others could only chase after them.

Yu Xiaonan was gritting her teeth as she finally realized that it would be impossible for her to separate Tan Mo from Wei Zhiqian.

All she could do now was find a chance and force herself to hug him.

She also could not understand why Tan Mo wouldn’t let go of Wei Zhiqian.

After going through the door, the first thing they saw was a long dark corridor.
