Chapter 296 296: A Ship On The Horizon
Cole created a Platform of [Gravity] on the ocean, and then he willed it forwards. The platform raising up a spray of sea water as he crossed the distance between him and the ship rapidly. However he could not carry out this movement for long as they fired off a shot some twenty meters in front of him, raising a massive deluge of water as Cole slowed down to a halt.
He was not stupid, he knew what they meant. Stay the fuck away or we will blast you to pieces. Which bets the question of it anyone of them would be powerful enough to stand up against him, since they felt the need to threaten him. But then again, he could just be assuming, it would not be wise to get cocky just because he has achieved a whole new level of power. So Cole decided to wait for them, and approach him they did.
The ship was bigger than he had originally thought it was circular, not exactly the kind of size you would expect from normal ships. It was almost two hundred meters in circumference and stood at 50 meters in height. Whatever the fuck this ship was, Cole was sure it housed way more people than he could on the deck, and they had weird looking harpoons pointed his way.
Cole decided to lay down and wait for them to get closer. His eyesight was so good he had been able to pick out all these details when they were still close to 3 kilometers away from him. There was no need to rush and go meet them, not that he was being arrogant but it made no difference, besides they had explicitly told him not to move by shooting at him.
Since he was in need of information and was in a place he could not recognize or had no idea about how things worked around here, he could at least try to be civil…..as long as his hosts were civil anyways. He was not the kind to go looking for trouble….which was true….to a certain extent at least. But given that he needs something, Cole was happy to be on his best behavior.
The ship reached him in no time at all. Three individuals jumped off the side of the ship, a harness on their backs and their harpoons in their hands. Obviously they were aiming to land on his [Gravity] platform, it was wide enough to have ten people lay on it comfortably and it's boundaries were defined by the disturbance on the ocean, Cole unceremoniously canceled the skill and floated into the air as they fell into the ocean with a splash.
He shrugged and shot up, before landing on the deck. Once again he had harpoons pointed to his face. Taking a closer look at it, he noticed the harpoon or rather the harpoon guns had a transparent glowing silver canister underneath the stock. At first Cole though it was what was responsible for propelling the harpoons, but he noticed the harpoons in question had the same quality as the canister.
So that was ammunition, which meant they could fire that thing repeatedly into his body. All of them on the ship, at least a 100 fish looking men, and another 100 normal looking people with a variety of features to describe them as different races. IT looked like a fishing vessel, but it could just as easily be his luck that Cole would find himself on a pirate ship. He hopped they would not tell him to walk the plank, as that will not end well…..for anyone at all.
He observed them a bit more and realized a majority of them were in the silver rank. Plus strangely enough Cole was able to get an accurate feel of which level of ranks their stats had. He couldn't tell which individual stats they had, of what number exactly they did have, but Cole could give an approximate sum of it, by tallying everything together.
Was this perhaps something that unique to the gold rank? Or rather was this was a [Sin Seeking Eyes] attached to a good rank stat could do. Cole had to experiment with it a bit as he focused a bit on the Fishman in front of him. It felt to him like he was piercing through some veil, and peeling back the layers of reality.

Cole knew there was more that could be exposed to him if he just pushed a little harder. But he refrained as the people who had gone overboard had been dragged back up by the lines attached to their backs. All three were males, dripping wet and all looked very pissed. Cole gave them a calm smile as the one that Cole was sure was the leader stomped up to him.
"Who the fuck do you think you are huh! Who are you to humiliate me like this you bastard!" Cole gave an apologetic smile as he said.
"I'm so sorry about that, but the duration of my skill ran out. And I could only catch myself once it ran out. This would not have happened if you guys had allowed me to approach your ship and get onboard without any problems. But I apologize, My name Is Cole and I seem to have found myself stranded in the ocean, would you be so kind as to give me directions." Cole asked with his simple smile still etched on his face.
The fisherman or men, or whatever the fuck this vessel was smile at him. As they looked at each other, some of them even whispering amongst themselves. But through it all they were all still within Cole's personal space, not at all willing to give him a chance to do anything. He waited, he really wanted to see just where this was going. Then the leader turned to him and said.
"I am Romo'mo'Romono! Captain of this here vessel. We will not be adverse to helping you with your problems as long as you have some coins in your inventory." Cole nodded to him as he said. "Money is not a problem." The captain smiled at him then he said with a mouth filled with sharp teeth.
"Then let us relieve you of it my good man." The captain placed his hand on Cole's shoulder, but before he could react a shock so powerful it bypassed every last one of his defense surged through his body, as he fell to the deck, flopping like a fish. And just before the darkness took him, Cole heard the captain say two words.
"Got you!"
