Chapter 937
Chapter 937: Discovering Something Interesting
Sevenz was reminiscing the first time he had met this beast which happened well over a year ago.
It happened when his good friend, Prince Draco, had gone missing on his way back to the Capital from the Rochester fief.
The chaotic weather conditions in that fief only made their efforts to find him grow desperate, fearing for his health.
As the days prolonged, their hopes for finding the Prince were beginning to dwindle.
The search mission was a disappointing one as none of the talented men accompanying him as well as Sevenz himself was unable to locate him despite having been working hard for numerous days.
However, no one had expected that while everyone else was failing to find his whereabouts, the Prince had found his way back to their encampment all by himself.
It was only when they had snapped out of their initial shock did they realize that he was not alone.
.....
Back then, all they could notice was a small ball of white fluff waddling next to him in the snow.
Had it not been for the bright blue eyes that peeked through the white fur, they would not have been able to make out the creature as it completely blended into the pure white background of the snow-covered land.
The fact that it moved around and had those flickers of blue visible through its white fur helped them differentiate between its body and the snow.
‘To think that the ball of fluff turned into this...’ Sevenz marveled while observing the beast now seated obediently close to their table.
He could sense a slight connection of aura between Prince Draco and the beast, indicating that there was a mental link connecting them right now.
Therefore, he did not interfere while the etched and etcher conversed as he was more interested in assessing its appearance.
The ball of fur which made it difficult for them to guess the kind of creature it was back then had now revealed its true appearance.
It might have been because the creature was just a babe but Sevenz had been unable to decipher its species when he first laid eyes on it.
His initial analysis made him believe that Prince Draco’s etcher was either a bear cub or a fluffy pup.
Now he knew that both those answers were wrong as the beast later named Astolfo was, in fact, a huge white wolf.
A snow wolf whose body had grown into a much larger size, enough to set fear into the hearts of any unsuspecting individual who came across it for the very first time.
His homeland did not have any regions that receive snowfall so seeing this kind of beast was a first for him.
Though the number of times Sevenz had met Astolfo could be counted on the fingers of one hand, it did not lower the astonishment that bubbled within him for both its appearance and its aura.
The reason he had turned when Astolfo first snuck into the room wasn’t just because the Prince had sensed its presence first, allowing him to follow suit.
Sevenz too had noticed the beast trying to sneak in, just as Astolfo had later come to realize.
The two of them thus had been peering into each others’ eyes as they tried to assess the level of the other person’s ability which seemed similar to their own.
Both were lowering their auras to the extent where it was impossible for others to sense them, allowing them to practically go unnoticed.
However, this trick did not seem to work as they desired, on each other.
This realization was exactly what made Astolfo wary of his opponent but on the other hand, it only invoked interest and curiosity in Sevenz who wished to learn more about this kind of etcher he had seen for the very first time.
While this beast and man were watching each other intently, Prince Draco was conversing with his etcher.
Though Astolfo did not take his eyes off the man he was vigilant against, he also did not forget to disclose what he had just sensed to his Master.
Thus Draco soon heard something interesting which helped him understand what was going on right now.
His initial curiosity about who Sevenz’s latest client was alleviated when he received this information from his etcher.
Thanks to this, he was able to realize that the person seeking Ocular Caravan’s assistance to find an item that could miraculously alter one’s appearance was none other than someone he had known for a while now.
When he first heard about Sevenz’s purpose of arriving here, he was startled as the existence of such an item was not something others should have been aware of.
The Rosenhyde Royal family was the only one in the Kingdom which had been using one such magical item they had procured many generations ago that helped them alter their appearance.
Their blonde hair and blue eyes were too eye-catching, revealing to even the most ignorant person that the one they were standing before belonged to the Rosenhyde Royal family.
Therefore, their family had used an item that allowed them to shift their facial appearance for whatever reason they saw fit.
Usually, when the men of their family needed to head out of the Palace for a mission assigned to them, this tool was used to help them blend into the crowd by concealing their true appearance.
Only those closest to them whom they trusted the most were let in on this secret.
Hence Prince Draco had initially been curious to know the identity of Sevenz’s latest client.
After all, those who knew of this item’s existence were their close and trustworthy acquaintances who would not try to acquire an item used solely by the Royal family members.
This curiosity dissipated once he heard what his etcher had to say a while ago.
As soon as Astolfo had entered the room, Draco had already planned to set a new punishment for the lazy etcher who slacked every chance he found.
However, he halted before he could declare his verdict as the etcher had something interesting to share with him.
‘Master, this person seems to have a familiar aura around him.’ The beast had revealed once their mental link had formed.
Upon further investigation, Prince Draco realized that his etcher indeed was right to say so.
A familiar aura surrounded Sevenz as though he had either been close to or had communicated through a mental link with this person.
Auras when used on another person would leave traces behind so it was easy for the Prince to make out who the other person Sevenz was in contact with.
‘They must have spoken recently.’ He concluded as that was the most plausible explanation for the traces of another person’s aura found around Sevenz.
Once he discovered this, everything else began to make sense to him.
Outside the Royal family and their close acquaintances, only one other person was aware of the fact that the Royal family members could alter their appearances.
A certain incident that took place many years ago in a fief far from the Capital thus came to his mind.
Back then, the King had sent both him and his nephew to the St. Claire fief on a mission.
The two of them had masqueraded as stable boys to carry out their mission which unfortunately had come to an abrupt end.
Though he knew that his cover had been safe, his nephew, Prince Fritzen’s secret was endangered due to his troublesome encounter with the Fief Lord’s only daughter back then.
If that wasn’t all, his identity had been uncovered by that same sly and cunning little girl a few years later.
‘I cannot give her all the credit.’ He added as his nephew was the one who had blown his cover thanks to his hotheadedness.
When they met a second time in the Sycamore Palace, a heated conversation ensued as Fritzen was still unwilling to let go of the humiliation he had experienced during his stay in her fief.
This led to him exposing his own secret as he had fallen into the trap she had laid with her words.
Prince Draco wasn’t too confident in his speculation but he had the nagging feeling that she had been aware of Fritzen’s identity long before this incident had occurred.
Fritzen’s accidental admittance only gave her the confirmation of the theories she seemed to have made back then.
This was what Prince Draco had grasped after he had scrutinized these matters of the past.
Now to hear that Sevenz was asked to find an item that altered one’s appearance, the Prince was sure that this request had come from that same girl.
Though his friend wasn’t aware of it, Draco knew all too well about the constant contact between Sevenz and the daughter of Earl St. Claire in the past few years.
He had only accidentally made this discovery when he had come to greet his friend unannounced one day.
However, finding carriages from the St. Claire estate there, he had left soon enough as he did not wish to expose his identity before them.
This was how he knew that Yvonne St. Claire and Sevenz Oca were familiar with each other.
The fact that her aura was around Sevenz right now also confirmed that she was the client who had asked him to find the magical item to alter his appearance.
However, knowing these matters did not change the main question which was also the only reason for Sevenz’s appearance here today.
Should this new client of Ocular Caravans be permitted to use something that had been solely within the possession of the Rosenhyde Royal family until now?
