Chapter 88: Home for the Holidays
Chapter 88
When Chi Yan came back from the bathroom to the room, he saw that Chu Yang was already sitting up, but her eyes were still closed.
Chi Yan went over and put his arms around her, "Are you getting up?"
"Mm-hmm." Chu Yang murmured sleepily.
Chi Yan thought about how he still needed to buy clothes for Chu Yang, so he hurried to get up, "I'm going to buy you some clothes, I'll be right back."
"Okay~"
However, by the time Chi Yan had washed up and gone out, Chu Yang still hadn't gotten out of bed...she was too tired.
After lying in bed for a while longer, Chu Yang finally got out of bed, brushed her teeth, washed up, threw her clothes in the washing machine, and tidied up a bit.
Half an hour later. Chi Yan came back with breakfast and clothes.
Chu Yang changed into the clothes, then ate breakfast with Chi Yan, by now it was after 10:30. Her train at 1 pm to go back to school and get her luggage.
When Chu Yang got back to her dorm room, none of her three roommates were there, they had all gone home early in the morning.
Chu Yang got her luggage and went downstairs, Chi Yan drove her to the train station, it was an hour's drive to the station, and Chi Yan nagged her with lots of reminders the whole way, "Remember to call me every day, let me know when you get home, don't respond if someone tries to strike up a conversation with you on the way, I see in the news that some trafficking criminals especially like to traffic female college students, don't trust anyone, if anything happens tell the police uncle..."
Chu Yang knew Chi Yan was just worried about her, and didn't argue back that she was a witch and absolutely wouldn't be fooled, she understood this kind of person, so she just let him talk, otherwise he would be even more worried.
Chi Yan talked the whole way, and Chu Yang responded the whole way.
When they arrived at the train station there was still forty minutes before departure, Chi Yan held her in his arms and continued to ramble on.
This was Chu Yang's first time witnessing how talkative Chi Yan could be, what was the Chi Yan from the beginning like? He didn't seem to have so many words back then.
After rambling on for another ten minutes or so, Chu Yang felt it was about time and immediately pushed him away, "Okay, okay, I'll send you a message later. I have to go now." Chu Yang hurriedly got out of the car to get her luggage out, waved at the dejected man, Chi Yan walked over to her side, Chu Yang leaned over and kissed him on the mouth, then Chu Yang just waved her hand and walked into the station.
Unlike Chi Yan's reluctance to part, Chu Yang was straightforward and decisive, looking like a scum girl.
At this point Chi Yan was still frozen there touching his mouth...
By the time he came back to his senses, Chu Yang had already gone through the ID check to get in...
Chi Yan hurried in after her, watching her all the way until she got in the elevator and her figure gradually disappeared...
Chi Yan stood there for a while longer, then went back to the car, waiting until Chu Yang sent a message saying she was on the train before Chi Yan calmly drove home.
Because he had already told Chu Yang’s parents early in the morning, Chu’s Dad and Chu’s Mom went to the vegetable market early to buy a lot of ingredients. Chu’s Mom had also cleaned Chu Yang’s room and changed the sheets two days in advance. An air conditioner had also been installed in Chu Yang's room when she transferred money home.
As for Chu Luo, school hadn’t let out yet.
On the train, Chu Yang wore headphones listening to music with her eyes closed resting. Whenever Chi Yan sent her a message, she would open her eyes and occasionally reply.
Some people in the carriage were eating instant noodles, eggs, snacks, some kids were crying loudly, someone had their phone on speaker watching videos, the whole carriage was filled with an unpleasant smell, and it was also very noisy, but Chu Yang was not bothered at all. She sat in the window seat, wearing a hat, listening to the songs Chi Yan had downloaded for her.
The journey of over an hour was not long, and soon Chu Yang arrived at her station. As she stepped out of the station, a wave of heat rushed up, today's sun was glaring.
As soon as she got out of the station, many drivers came up and asked, "Sister, where are you going? Do you want a ride?"
"Going to Qing Town? 50 bucks! 50 bucks!”
"Miss, do you want a ride? Good price."
Chu Yang ignored them with indifference, went to the bus station next to the train station, bought a bus ticket back to town. It took an hour by bus to get back into town where Chu’s Dad was already waiting for her.
With her suitcase tied to the back with rope, Chu Yang got on her dad’s motorcycle as Chu’s Dad drove her home.
On the way back some villagers they knew greeted them, "Chu Zhong, is your daughter back from school for the holidays?"
"Oh! Yes. Let’s catch up next time, I have to take my Yuanyuan home first."
"Oh."
Finally back home, Chu’s Mom came over to help take the luggage down and urged her in, "Go to your room quickly, I turned on the AC for you. It’s too hot out today."
After all this activity, even Chu Yang’s bangs were a little damp. She didn’t refuse and immediately went back to her room to feel the cool air from the AC, finally feeling revived.
Chu’s Mom brought her luggage into the room, then brought in some freshly washed honey peaches, home-grown. "Are you hungry? Mom will go make you something to eat?"
Chu Yang shook her head, biting into a honey peach. "No need, I'll just rest first."
"Okay, okay, call Mom if you need anything. You rest first."
"Mm-hmm."
While eating fruit, Chu Yang sent Chi Yan a message: "I'm home."
Then she sent him a photo of the honey peaches at home: "Grown in my home."
Chi Yan: "Awesome parents! [thumbs up]"
Chi Yan: "I miss you..."
Chu Yang: "Then let's video chat tonight. I'm going to rest first now."
Chi Yan: "[nodding vigorously] Okay~"
After eating a honey peach, Chu Yang changed her clothes and lay down. She was so tired from everything, and with this hot weather, she soon fell asleep.
After 5 pm, Chu’s Mom started preparing dinner. Early in the morning she had Chu’s Dad kill one of their home-raised chickens, then bought pork ribs and other pork, plus some vegetables.
Her daughter worked hard with studies and a part-time job, she looked thinner too, had to nourish her well.
When Chu Yang woke up, she smelled the aroma of chicken stewed mushrooms. Her stomach even growled, hungry!
Dinner was bountiful, and the family of three ate very happily. "When is Chu Luo's vacation?" Chu Yang asked.
"I heard around ten days."
Chu Yang nodded, then asked about some things at home, like when they would start harvesting crops, whether they would pick fruit to sell in town, or if the boss would come to collect the fruit.
Chu’s Dad and Chu’s Mom answered everything one by one.
"The harvest is probably still half a month away. Chu Luo will probably be back around then. We don’t have that many peaches at home either, not enough volume for the boss to come collect. We’ll mainly pick it ourselves to sell in town..."
"Then I'll get up early tomorrow morning to help pick fruit with you guys." Chu Yang had come home early precisely to help out at home.
"You don't need to. You stay home and rest well. Mom and Dad can handle it. Be good." Chu’s Mom put a chicken leg on her plate.
Chu Yang didn’t say anything more. In any case, she would definitely get up early to help tomorrow.
After dinner, when Chu Yang tried to help clean up, Chu’s Mom refused her and only let her go sit in the living room and watch TV.
Not having forgotten the video call with Chi Yan tonight, Chu Yang soon went to take a bath and then lay in bed.
