Chapter 403
Chapter 403: All Out War (1)
Shen Jingbin had no idea what Yangshu said to Xue Sijia, but Shen Jingbin received a call from her the next day saying that she wanted to meet up with her to discuss the specifics of their partnership.
Shen Jingbin knew that Xue Sijia was involved in filming a movie as of late, and that travelling put a strain on her schedule. So, she was rather skeptical when Xue Sijia mentioned wanting to meet in person.
No matter how she looked at it, this didn’t seem like something she’d do. After all, her being an aloof goddess wasn’t just for show.
However, Shen Jingbin wasn’t afraid of meeting up with her regardless of her reasons.
They agreed to meet at Xue Sijia’s office. When it was time for them to meet, Shen Jingbin arrived right on the dot with all of the relevant materials on hand. With some help from the receptionist, she managed to find Yangshu, who then led her to a room and served her a cup of warm water.
"Sijia’s speaking to Chairman Long at the moment. She’ll be out in a bit. Please wait here for the time being, Miss Shen," said Yangshu.
Shen Jingbin nodded. "Alright."
Xue Sijia sauntered in about half an hour later.
Xue Sijia looked like she had absolutely no intention of apologising for being late and went straight to sitting before Shen Jingbin. She crossed her hands and gave Shen Jingbin a once over.
Shen Jingbin’s expression remained indifferent, almost as if she didn’t notice the haughty look on Xue Sijia’s face. "Have you looked through the contract, Miss Xue? Do you have any objections to the terms we’ve listed?"
"I’ve looked through the contract, and the terms you’ve set out are very generous. I’m happy with what’s being offered."
"That’s good to hear. So, are you willing to become our ambassador, Miss Xue?"
Xue Sijia put on a fake smile and shook her head. Sidestepping the question, she said, "There’s something I’m curious about. Why did you choose me, Miss Shen? I would’ve thought that with our past history, the position as the Shen family’s ambassador would never fall to me."
"I’m speaking to you as a representative of the Shen family, Miss Xue."
Xue Sijia sneered. "I heard that you tried asking Fan Wenqi beforehand, so why are you giving me an olive branch now?"
"Miss Fan wasn’t satisfied with the terms we set out for her, so we weren’t able to come to an agreement."
Xue Sijia fell silent for a moment. "I’m very impressed by your magnanimity and work ethic. I’ll accept the position as the Shen family’s ambassador. However, I’m sure you’re well aware that I’m filming a movie for Wang Dao, so I don’t have much time..."
Shen Jingbin immediately cut her off. "Fret not, Miss Xue. Our filming will take three days at most."
Xue Sijia looked conflicted. A moment later, she appeared to have made up her mind and said, "Alright then, I’ll try to squeeze out some time for the filming."
"I’ll send someone to deliver the final version of the contract tomorrow afternoon. If there’s no objections on your part, we’ll start filming this week."
"Alright."
Everything happened so smoothly that Shen Jingbin couldn’t help but take another glance at Xue Sijia before leaving.
Xue Sijia was so easy to deal with today, that it was kind of absurd. It felt like there was some sort of conspiracy in the works. But, on second thought, even if she was scheming something, the biggest loser had yet to be determined.
With that thought in mind, Shen Jingbin went back to report to Shen Jingchen. She didn’t forget to warn him to be more conscious of Xue Sijia in the future either. After all, it was better to be safe than sorry.
After Shen Jingbin left, Yangshu looked at Xue Sijia in confusion and asked, "You’re accepting the contract, just like that?"
Xue Sijia was uncharacteristically amicable today. Based on what Yangshu knew of her, she was definitely plotting something.
As expected, Xue Sijia’s expression turned ice-cold when she heard Yangshu’s question.
"Hmph, getting me to agree to the contract is one thing, getting me to cooperate with them will depend on how well they perform."
Out of concern, Yangshu said, "Don’t be too hasty. You’re going up against the Shen family, they’re not people..."
A minor celebrity like you can go against.
But alas, the rest of what she wanted to say was caught in her throat when Xue Sijia glared daggers at her.
"I asked around last night. The Shen family has placed a great deal of importance on finding a suitable ambassador. There aren’t many people who fit their criteria to begin with, so they should have come crawling on their hands and knees to beg me to be their ambassador. Why do I have the be the one acting meek?"
"But, Chairman Long said not to..."
"Said not to provoke her? Don’t worry, I know what to do," said Xue Sijia, as the corners of her lips curled into a sinister smile.
Yanshu was filled with apprehension. She suddenly felt as if she’d underestimated just how much Xue Sijia hated Shen Jingbin. But, where did all of this hostility come from? Could it really have been due to what happened to Yiju last time? If that was the case, she was definitely making a mountain out of a molehill.
It might be a good idea to try talking her around. Otherwise, she might be on the road to ruining her future.
