Chapter 68: General Studies
Chapter 68
After refusing the first interest class, Shen Feixian spent the next two days rejecting seven more interest classes in the same manner, causing a group of men to toss and turn for him until daybreak.
Incidentally, he also received some concerns from parents asking which class their child learned this from and which teacher taught it.
Shen Feixian naturally chatted with these parents, especially some of the fathers. The children did have a teacher, but unfortunately the teacher went abroad and won't be coming back anytime soon, so they have to find a new teacher.
As expected, the results were not ideal. The children didn't find a suitable teacher and could only wait for the original teacher to return.
"So when will the teacher come back? Does our child seem suitable? Bring them over to take a look." The father said enthusiastically.
"That depends on when the teacher returns. It's not for us to decide!" Shen Feixian assumed a profound appearance.
Shen Feixian's speech was extremely good. He didn't look like a promotional staff member from a tutoring institute at all. As a result, the parents' attitudes were even more adamant.
"Add my WeChat!"
"No, no!"
"I'll treat you to a meal another day. Let me know as soon as the teacher starts recruiting! By the way, what do you do?"
"I work in construction," Shen Feixian thought about his main job recently.
"Construction, huh? Real estate! I run a small business, seafood! No wonder this kid plays soccer so well. In recent years, many good teams have sponsors that work in real estate..." The father opened up, pulling Shen Feixian into a conversation.
Shen Feixian maintained an extremely cultivated appearance, casually pointing out a thing or two about the current situation to the father, and talked about some recent trends in the seafood market.
The father was even happier. He insisted on adding Shen Feixian on WeChat and asked for the teacher's information.
The two chatted for a bit and got along quite well.
Seeing Shen Feixian's gentle temperament, the father switched to soft persuasion: "You look so young. This kid should be your elders' child!"
"That's right, it's my elders' child," Shen Feixian nodded.
"Since you've brought the child to find a class, you must really care for your family's child and hope they grow up healthy. As parents, we're busy making money every day for the same purpose, to spend it all on our children, hoping they succeed!"
"Let me ask you a favor, call me brother! To be frank, brother, my child loves soccer so much he goes to sleep hugging a soccer ball every night, unwilling to let go. He's obsessed with soccer all day, not focusing on studying at all. It's good for children to like sports, but having him give up soccer to study seriously doesn't work. The tutors I found were useless too, I'm at my wits' end."
"Then I heard that children with poor academics can still get into college as athletes! Take a look at my kid over there! He's just tall, not smart." The father pointed at the bunch of kids playing soccer on the field.
These children were fifteen or sixteen this year, all in the youth group. The kids playing soccer weren't short, plus they exercised often so their bodies were sturdy. Even standing among men in their twenties, they did not seem out of place.
"My child's about to start high school now. I can only hope he participates in more competitions, it'll be easier getting into college afterward! Him practicing on his own is one thing, finding a good teacher is another! See, you're here looking for a teacher too, right?"
"Brother, I'll be frank. I'm not here to compete with you for a teacher. My child is so old already, yours is still young. By the time your child grows up, mine won't be able to play soccer anymore! Our families will never end up as competitors!" The father assumed the tone of a veteran, pointing out.
Shen Feixian nodded.
Indeed, the other ran a restaurant while they operated a sect. No matter what his child did in the future, there would be no competition.
After all, no organization could compete with their Qingyun Sect!
"My child has a competition coming up soon, and I'm worried sick with anxiety! His current performance falls far short, he's just a defender. If he gets switched now he'll end up a benchwarmer, who knows if he can even get certified later! I won't pretend, generations of my family before me were uneducated laborers. I only graduated middle school. So I hope my child can try harder and get into college!"
"If you help me with this, you'll be a lifesaver for my family!"
Shen Feixian looked over the man before him with his beer belly, then glanced at his face.
Despite his poor decorum, the man was morally incorruptible and while not an especially good person, he wasn't bad either. He would gain some small wealth in his later years.
Shen Feixian didn't know much, just a tiny bit of face reading, more than enough to read an ordinary person's fortune. This was included in the general education curriculum for cultivators.
Reading cultivators was slightly more difficult for him, because after spiritual energy entered their bodies, their fortunes became obscure and cryptic.
Their karma wasn't dictated by the heavens, but rather determined more by themselves.
They could only go as far as they were capable!
Since the man before him was still a decent person, adding him on WeChat and taking him in as a registered disciple wasn't bad.
Qingyun Sect had its own set of rules for accepting disciples. Aside from assessing their talents, conduct was vital as well. Those lacking in conduct could not make it past the heavenly tribulation.
All children above three years old, even if outer sect disciples, would have their parents and family history investigated thoroughly before being allowed into the sect.
Qingyun Sect was rigorous and impartial, refusing children whose parents were morally lacking. Children who were unwilling to join the sect were also rejected.
The closer to the core, the stricter the requirements. But the age limit for children of common families was around eight. Others would not be accepted unless they had outstanding talents.
Even if it was just opening a tutoring class, he was still adopting the position of guide and teacher. The registered disciples had to be investigated clearly.
He could not tarnish Qingyun Sect's reputation here by becoming an unworthy disciple!
Thinking of this, Shen Feixian felt he still had to carefully check when he returned, using the internet to investigate those children's parents to see what they were like.
Any unsuitable ones had to be filtered out!
After obtaining Shen Feixian's WeChat, Beer Belly No. 1 was very happy. He attracted Beer Belly No. 2 over, who once again asked to add Shen Feixian's WeChat.
After chatting back and forth, Shen Feixian counted to two with his fingers and saw many differences.
While WeChat was added, recommending a teacher was another matter entirely.
The few men stood at the edge of the sports field chatting for a long time. The children had just finished training and ran over from the soccer pitch.
A boy wearing a jersey ran out and shouted upon seeing them, "Dad, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to see you! And chat with some friends..." Beer Belly No. 1 said.
"Oh, this gentleman shouldn't be your friend, right Dad!" The boy gestured at Shen Feixian bluntly. Although young, the boy's words were extremely straightforward.
"We just met, so why can't we be considered friends?"
