This Earth Is A Bit Fearsome

Chapter 43

Chapter 43: Divine Moves

He knew full well what kind of person his Martial Nephew, Lin Sheng, was. He had displayed jaw-dropping talent in cultivation ever since he was a child, and become a Baodan Grandmaster before the age of 30. He had seemingly limitless potential and was already being set up as the next champion of the Seven Invincible Sect.

He was also extremely careful in the way he did things, so there must have been a special reason; otherwise, he would never have done something like this. That he was doing whatever he wanted because he had a bit of cultivation was just a superficial reason.

For martial arts practitioners, it was easy to get ahead of oneself, and every sect faced these kinds of problems.

However, because he placed his trust in Lin Sheng, he did not say anything more.

At that time, the crowd watching from outside the ring was dumbfounded, as they could not understand what was happening. To be in the good graces of the young man in front of them, Lin Sheng actually went so far as to break the leg of a disciple from his own sect.

Even with modern medical advances, the disciple would probably be crippled for life. He might be able to recover enough to walk like an average person, but it would be difficult for him to practice martial arts.

Lu Yuling and Guo Yuanyuan were even more perplexed. They did not expect events to unfold in such an unforeseen way.

At first, they thought Lu Xuan would be driven out in embarrassment, but their expectations had been completely subverted. Instead, the university senior that they were just joking around with had gotten his leg broken by his senior.

While they were not the sharpest tool in the shed, even they realized that something was amiss here. The person they had been bossing around all this while was definitely not what he seemed.

“Yuling, what’s the background of this Lu Xuan guy? Did your dad tell you anything?” Guo Yuanyaun asked with some uncertainty.

Lu Yuling could only shake her head. Her father had only told her he was just the son of a colleague, and even he did not think too much of him.

After all, she was an attractive girl since she was young, and she had more than a couple of suitors. Her father was already used to this and thought that Lu Xuan was just another one of them.

He only introduced him to his daughter because he had to show his colleague some face.

Yet now it seemed like he was not what they thought.

Although it was not clear why Lu Xuan was being treated with such respect, there was no doubt that he was certainly not a normal person.

“Looks like we all totally misjudged him!”

Guo Yuanyuan felt slightly remorseful as well. She had a tendency to be a gold-digger, and it was why she was so desperate to be on Li Xun’s good side, as came from a well-to-do family.

However, it was becoming clear that they had not recognized the goldmine that was right in front of them.

As the two of them wallowed in regret, another group of people led by another young man strode up onto the Battle Ring.

Most of those watching knew that this was the Chen family that was opposing the Seven Invincible Sect.

When the members of the Seven Invincible Sect saw the Chen family, their expressions suddenly grew vigilant.

In contrast, the members of the Chen family looked to be full of confidence. Even so, when they saw Lu Xuan sitting in a chair and reading the news, they found it strange, not recognizing who he was.

“Gentlemen of the Chen family, shall we follow the age-old tradition and let the disciples of our sects come up to compete first?” Lin Sheng stepped forward to ask.

This was the rule agreed upon by the two factions. It allowed the disciples from both sides to display their skills in front of an audience and would aid their future growth.

“That won’t be necessary. Let’s get straight to the main event. Lin Sheng, I heard you made a breakthrough? Last year, you weren’t good enough to face me in a fight, but I guess you barely qualify now. Let your old man here give you some pointers!”

At that moment, Chen Chang, who had been at the head of the Chen family contingent, called out Lin Sheng by name.

“Give me pointers? I’m afraid your old arms and legs won’t be able to keep up!”

Lin Sheng showed no fear at all. Even though the opponent was a veteran Baodan Grandmaster, now that he was a Baodan Grandmaster himself, they were on equal footing.

The two men walked to the middle, as their strong, imposing air could even be felt by the more uninitiated members of the ringside crowd. These two men were completely different from the ones who had exchanged blows earlier in the day.

The two men took their stances, and in a flash, Chen Chang had made the first move. His fist shot out with the force of a cannon, speeding towards Lin Sheng.

Boom!

The punch was fast enough to cause a loud sonic boom in the air.

This was a Fist Technique the Chen family had cultivated called the

Pao Punch. It was similar to the martial arts practiced by the Seven Invincible Sect, as they were all techniques drawn from the battlefield, and each and every move had the power to inflict heavy mortal damage.

However, Lin Sheng did not back down. The best defense was a good offense, and he rushed forward to meet him.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

The two men were already Baodan Grandmasters, so every move they made could shake the air itself. The sounds of the two men colliding with one another were like the deafening sound of firecrackers.

The two men were moving abnormally fast, and they seemed to become a blur.

The ringside audience was whooping in delight. Even Lu Yuling, Guo Yuanyuan, and the others who were stunned before seemed to forget what had just happened, cheering loudly for the two combatants.

Neither of the men gave the other an inch, and it seemed like their skills were equally matched.

Although Lin Sheng had become a Baodan Grandmaster at a later stage, he had received tips from Lu Xuan, so his knowledge about being a Baodan Grandmaster did not lose out to Chen Chang’s.

As the fight dragged on, Lin Sheng was gradually gaining the upper hand.

Lu Xuan only gave them a fleeting glance, but he could tell straight away that even though Chen Chang did not seem to be losing, his defeat was basically set in stone. In terms of skill, they were evenly matched, and in terms of their understanding of martial arts, there was not much of a difference between them.

Nevertheless, Lin Sheng was young, below the age of 30. On the other hand, Chen Chang looked to be in his forties, but in truth, he was already in his fifties.

The fist-fighter fears the young and brawny!

The longer they fought, the more Chen Chang struggled to keep up.

However, what drew Lu Xuan’s attention at this moment was a young man in the midst of the Chen family group. Lu Xuan gave him a sweeping glance, and he was slightly startled, but quickly regained his composure.

The young man also seemed to have sensed Lu Xuan’s gaze, as he looked over, his gaze falling onto Lu Xuan like a sword.

His Mental Strength was almost tangible, but it had no effect at all on Lu Xuan.

At that point, the fight between the two men in the ring was decided. As Lu Xuan expected, Chen Chang was feeling the effects of his old age. Though it was not normally perceptible, when he was going up against Lin Sheng at his peak, or even if he had not yet reached his peak, his weakness became apparent.

Lin Sheng smashed a punch with deadly force into Chen Chang’s chest, sending him flying backward, as he lost the fight in that instant.

Lin Sheng was also covered in sweat. Defeating Chen Chang had not been easy.

The audience below the ring burst out in cheers and applause, glad that they got to see a bout between real martial arts experts.

“Trash!” Suddenly, the young man from the Chen family snorted coldly. In the blink of an eye, he had leapt up in front of Lin Sheng, sending two cannon-like fists crashing simultaneously towards him.

Almost instinctively, Lin Sheng brought up his arms to block the blow.

Crack!

With a horrible sound that would make anyone wince, both of Lin Sheng’s arms dropped down limply, as their bones were snapped.

Lin Sheng let out a groan of agony. His face was pale and covered in a layer of cold sweat. He staggered backward several steps before he could stabilize himself.

Without pausing for a moment, the young man followed up with a kick straight into Lin Sheng’s chest.

Lin Sheng was sent flying by the kick, and in the blink of an eye, he was down on the ground.
