This Childhood Sweetheart is a Little Sweet

Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Yi Ming majored in medical imaging at Yihe University. He was the kind of person who could spout mystical and profound things while staring at a pitch-black film in front of a patient, and eventually accurately pinpoint what was wrong with your body.

However, Yi Ming's original ambition was not in imaging. This idea only came about later.

In his sophomore year of high school, a certain medical examination institution distributed flyers outside the school gates. The original ¥299 physical examination package was now only ¥99. Truthfully, this kind of advertising tactic was commonplace back then. Once you got to the hospital, they would have you get all kinds of add-ons, going around experiencing a circle of cold devices. In the end, you would leave satisfied, holding a “everything is normal” report.

Coincidentally, Jiang Wei had been feeling some stomach discomfort those past few days, so she dragged Yi Ming along with her.

Upon seeing them, the doctor swiftly concluded they were a young couple: “Planning to have a baby?”

After hearing this, Jiang Wei’s face turned green and she let out an embarrassed laugh. “Doctor, we haven’t graduated yet.”

The doctor suddenly lifted his head. He was silent for two seconds before lamenting, “Ai...kids these days...they mature too early.” He paused before raising his hand and tapping away at the keyboard. “Blood tests, urine tests, internal medicine, external medicine, breast ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, and gynecological ultrasound. Let’s check these first for now.”

They had already entered the tiger’s mouth, so there was no way for them to escape.

And so, Yi Ming brought Jiang Wei running around to various examination rooms. The last one was the breast ultrasound room.

The doctor in charge of breast ultrasounds was a male doctor wearing gold wire-rimmed glasses. His eyebrows were slender and he had two dimples when he smiled.

After the examination began, Yi Ming stood guard outside. The sound insulation of the examination room was poor, so he could hear their conversation.

“Doctor, is there something wrong with me?”

“No, your condition looks very good right now. The layering structure of both breasts is clear. The echo is uniform. No obvious thickening or mass lesions were discovered.”

“Oh, thank you, doctor.”

“You’re welcome. I’ll print out your test report for you in a bit. Let me wipe off the ultrasonic coupling agent from your breasts first, then you can just stand outside and wait.”

Jiang Wei nodded. By the time she had tidied up everything and came out, Yi Ming was standing outside the door, his face black as charcoal.

Jiang Wei was startled. She felt both exasperated and amused. “Yi Ming, he’s a doctor.”

“Even if he's a doctor, you're mine. Others are not allowed to look at you, and definitely can’t touch you.”

“What if I don’t feel well in the future and need to get examined again?”

Yi Ming pondered this for two seconds.

And so, for Jiang Wei, he planned out his career for the next ten-odd years ahead of time. Just like that, he went from being a surgeon in a white coat wielding a scalpel, to an imaging specialist wearing a white coat who would never touch a surgical knife again.

That morning, the department had scheduled an experimental class.

Early in the morning, Yi Ming received a text message from Jiang Wei saying her college didn’t have classes in the morning. She would come to his apartment to bring him milk tea at lunchtime.

After getting out of class, Yi Ming headed towards his apartment building still wearing his white lab coat. Unfortunately, Jiang Wei did not show up at all that day no matter how long he waited.

She had stood him up very suddenly.

And so, from that day onward, Yi Ming discovered that his cute little sweetheart had suddenly distanced herself from him and was no longer as intimate as before.

“When something out of the ordinary occurs, there must be a monster at work.”

Yi Ming told Qin Hao about when and where the incident happened. After some calculations, Qin Hao asked Yi Ming to carefully think back on whether anything else out of the ordinary had happened that day.

"If you insist something else happened, then there really was a small incident," Yi Ming recounted with a straight face. "A woman came to my home that day. Later I chased her away."

Qin Hao was holding a cup of hot water and swallowed it down his throat when he heard this. His face swelled up bright red.

"No way, brother. You call that a 'small' incident?!"

Qin Hao looked at the calm Yi Ming in disbelief. He finally understood why Miss Jiang Wei didn't agree to date this guy.

Fools aren't afraid of making pigs of themselves. After all, a pig's worth is right there in the open.

But human foolishness is a hopeless case beyond treatment.

"It doesn't count?" Yi Ming tilted his head back, using his arms as a pillow while staring up at Qin Hao's bed boards.

He really hadn't thought it was a big deal - there were too many girls chasing after him. Other than Jiang Wei, weren't they all just a nose, two eyes, nothing worth paying attention to.
