Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Money Troubles
Kain walked out of the store in embarrassment.
He had wanted to buy a space ring after feeling its usefulness the last time he went out. Figuring that his now 6 figure savings should be able to at least buy him one of the smallest ones.
He was wrong. Very Wrong.
He wouldn't even have the courage to come back here without 10 million CD at least in his account.
'I hadn't expected that Blacksmith to be so rich…' Kain muttered. A ring with a similar space as was given to him previously would cost at least 21 million CD.
That's more than most ordinary families make in a lifetime. Enough to run the orphanage for decades.
However, he didn't want to immediately give up. There was still his Plan B.
Kain walked over to his new friend's shop.
"Hey Pheneos Buddy!" Kain yelled shamelessly upon entering the shop.
The large teen looked at Kain strangely. Buddy? They'd only met yesterday. At most they were acquaintances.
Never one for small talk, Kain cut straight to the chase, "I was wondering if I could possibly use your teacher's space ring again? Of course, I won't just borrow it, I'll pay to rent it."
"…I'll go ask him" he replied, not sure what to make of the sudden request. They aren't exactly a rental store.
Within moments he walked back out with a puzzled expression and a familiar ring in his hands.
Seeing the ring, Kain was hopeful!
"Teacher agreed to your request. However, He set the rate at 15, 000 CD per day, payment upfront, no bargaining."
'15,000CD, thanks to the money I made my last venture into the wilderness I could afford to rent it for 12 days…a little shorter than I had hoped.'
To maximize efficiency, he had hoped to spend almost the entire 3 weeks leading up to the Academic Entrance Test in the wilderness, to avoid spending time going back and forth.
Now he will have to come back more than a week sooner than planned.
However, beggars can't be choosers. He'd also be able to bring more materials back with him and, as a result, earn more money.
Wincing in pain, Kain nodded in agreement.
After signing a contract and making the full payment for 12 days and paying 180,000CD with tears pooling in his eyes, he left the shop.
He now only had a little more than 5000 CD to his name, which he used to restock on food and supplies.
He didn't buy a replacement tent, sleeping outside in the tree will be more beneficial now that he's decided to take his condensation of spiritual power at night seriously.
After stuffing everything he would need into the ring and filling a decoy bag with some snacks, Kain once again left for the wilderness.
