Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Affinity Test (3)
Although an awakening rate of around 20 to 30% seems low, it is many times greater than the awakening rate before the Empire was established and awakening ceremonies were conducted. Among millions of individuals, it would be considered lucky if even one could enter this space to awaken independently.
Although such individuals would be considered the absolute best among the talents today. Probably even above the S-rating given out nowadays. Astronomical talents at the level of the Empire's five founders.
Thankfully, the ceremony was developed after discovering a creature that possessed a skill able to forcefully drag individuals into this space, even if their talent was greatly lacking.
Opening his eyes, Kain was distraught when he realized there was nothing around him.
'Calm down Kain. Principal Waters said that I should feel a pull to where my affinity is located. Don't lose hope yet.'
Slowing his breathing, Kain decided to close his eyes while feeling for any kind of draw forward.
'There!' Kain almost wanted to sprint towards the faint draw he felt in anxiety, but managed to remain calm and keep walking forward with his eyes closed so as to not lose the feeling. After all, it's not like there's anything harmful he could bump into around here.
After what felt like an eternity, Kain finally felt the pull strong enough that it no longer required intense concentration to feel. He opened his eyes while dashing forward.
'Damn this is all only in my head, but I feel as though I'm running a marathon. Just when will I see it.'
Finally, in the distance, Kain was able to see the first bit of light since he had entered. Rejuvenated, Kain sprinted as though he had been given a performance-enhancing drug.
Finally he was before the most beautiful egg he had ever seen, and right next to it was another, and another, and another… a quick look around revealed at least a dozen eggs.
'Yes! I knew it!' Kain wanted to jump and scream for joy.
'How could I, a transmigrator, with a system no less, live a life of mediocrity? I must be the greatest talent this world has ever seen.'
'What are in these? Why are there so many? Is it a collection of all this world's mythical creatures?'
While imagining a beautiful future in which beautiful water sprites prepared his bath in morning, his breakfast prepared over his phoenix's fire, and then making a grand entrance to the college every morning on his dragon's back, Kain began shiver in ecstasy.
'I hope my real body doesn't have a nosebleed or some other kind of physical manifestation of all this…excitement.'
'Which should I absorb first? Will the first be a dragon?! Ah, it doesn't matter, they're all mine anyway'
And with that thought and shaking fingers, Kain reached towards the closest egg.
