Chapter 18: Almost Crushed To Death
Chapter 18: Almost Crushed To Death
Xuan Yin leaped down from the rooftop, landing steadily in front of Lu Xun. Before he could say anything, she grabbed his collar, and with a swift movement, they were back on the rooftop of the dilapidated temple.
Lu Xun couldn't help but envy Xuan Yin's ability to fly around like that. Unfortunately, he had only been in this world for three years, and his time as a demon slayer was just two and a half years. He hadn't even mastered the skill of flying on a sword, let alone effortlessly jumping on rooftops like a ninja.
Xuan Yin casually left Lu Xun to the side and gracefully settled herself on the ridge of the rooftop, her rounded butt resting on her heels, her slender arms bending, and her knees supporting her elbows. Her hand was propping up her chin as she gazed up at the starry sky with a cold and charming look in her eyes.
Lu Xun sat not far away, observing her intently. From this angle, he was getting an up-close and personal view of Xuan Yin's alluring figure. He couldn't help but marvel at how full and shapely her buttocks were, not inferior to her master's at all. Of course, if he were to compare, Immortal Miao Feng might still have a slight advantage.
"Wife?"
"What are you thinking?" Lu Xun asked in a low voice.
Xuan Yin pursed her lips and replied nonchalantly, "It seems that there really is some treasure in that hidden cave. However, we arrived a step too late, and someone else took it. It's a pity. I wonder who managed to take it away from right under my nose without me knowing."
"Well, now that things have come to this point, should we… return home tomorrow?" Lu Xun asked softly.
"We can go back."
"Staying here any longer is no longer interesting." Xuan Yin sighed, her words tinged with a hint of helplessness, frustration, and a bit of regret.
Lu Xun shifted his bottom cautiously, inching closer. Xuan Yin had already noticed his subtle movements. She didn't stop him at first, but as he got closer, she felt a slight sense of displeasure and coldly said, "Go back!"
"I feel especially safe by your side." Lu Xun smiled and said, "Alright, alright, I won't get any closer. There's still a distance between us."
Xuan Yin glanced at the tiny gap between them, snorted disdainfully, but didn't say much. She continued to sit there, observing the celestial signs.
"Lu Xun."
"Hmm?"
"Do you believe in fate?" Xuan Yin asked coldly.
"Fate?"
Lu Xun pondered for a moment and replied quietly, "I used to think highly of myself, especially during the time when I was slaying demons. I had never encountered a rival. But ever since I met your master, she defeated me to the point where I didn't even know how to fight back. I deeply realized that life is governed by fate, and there's not even the slightest bit we can control."
"Life is governed by fate, and there's not even the slightest bit we can control," Xuan Yin contemplated Lu Xun's words and asked in a calm voice, "Are you saying that everything is predetermined? There's not even the tiniest bit we can decide for ourselves?"
"Smart!"
"Wow, my lady is really impressive!" Lu Xun grinned playfully, "You understand all that!"
Hearing his sarcastic words, Xuan Yin felt so annoyed that she almost revealed her true form and swallowed this obnoxious man whole. She coldly said, "Don't think I can't hear the implied meaning in your words. I'm not foolish enough for that."
"Alright, alright."
Lu Xun laughed foolishly, then asked, "Wife, why are you suddenly asking such questions?"
"Nothing."
"Just thinking about how my master once calculated mine and the little fox's destinies," Xuan Yin lightly pursed her lips and said, "In the future, I and the little fox will…"
As she spoke, her words came to a sudden halt.
"What happened between you and her?" Lu Xun looked at her with curiosity, urging, "Don't stop halfway through your words; it's really uncomfortable!"
"That's none of your business!"
Xuan Yin glanced at the impatient Lu Xun, her expression indifferent. "This is something between me and the little fox. It has nothing to do with you, this demon slayer. Don't pry too much, or you might invite trouble upon yourself."
Lu Xun shrugged and replied with a touch of irritation, "I don't care about whatever is between you two sisters."
Afterward, the two of them sat on the rooftop's ridge, each gazing up at the brilliant starry sky, lost in their own thoughts. At this moment, Lu Xun caught a faint fragrance and secretly turned his head to observe the cold demoness next to him from up close.
Her jet-black hair shimmered under the moonlight, and her fair and flawless skin was as smooth as white jade. Her delicate profile exuded both nobility and allure, and her clear and bright eyes resembled a galaxy, captivating anyone who looked at them.
Especially her plump and rosy vermilion lips, like a masterpiece of art, were full of boundless imagination.
It had to be said that, setting aside her temper and personality, Xuan Yin was a peerless beauty in this world. It was just a pity that she was too violent! Sometimes, it was really unbearable to be with someone who was always yelling about fighting and killing. Lu Xun couldn't fathom how Immortal Miao Feng had cultivated Xuan Yin to have such a personality.
But then again, Immortal Miao Feng wasn't much better! Despite her smiling demeanor every day, she was actually much crueler than Xuan Yin when it came to actions.
"Tomorrow, you go into the city early, buy everything we need, and then we head straight back," Xuan Yin snapped out of her thoughts and said indifferently, "We won't stop along the way. Just endure it a bit."
"Then you should fly slower."
"At that speed, I definitely can't stand it, and besides, I'm a little afraid of heights," Lu Xun said.
"Hmph."
"Whether I fly fast or not has nothing to do with you!" Xuan Yin stood up straight and glanced at him with the corner of her eye, saying casually. As she spoke, she lightly leaped and landed gracefully on the ground.
"Hey!"
"You're being a bit too much!" Lu Xun felt anxious sitting up there and complained, "What's the meaning of leaving me here alone? You know very well that I can't fly around, yet you intentionally left me here. Wife, you can't treat people like this!"
Standing on the ground, Xuan Yin looked up at the furious demon slayer on the rooftop. Seeing his frustrated expression, she couldn't help but find it a bit amusing. She slightly pursed her lips and said leisurely, "Just climb down, with your thick skin and flesh, you won't die from falling from this height. Besides, I'm a demon, not a human. Don't judge me by human standards."
With these words, Xuan Yin turned and prepared to return to the dilapidated temple, feeling a faint sense of satisfaction.
However, at that moment, a dark shadow suddenly appeared and rushed towards her.
Everything happened too suddenly, catching Xuan Yin off guard. The dark shadow pounced on her, causing her to fall to the ground.
Ah!
It's so heavy! I'm about to be crushed to death!
