Chapter 7: Dekan’s Soul Card
Chapter 7: Dekan’s Soul Card
Inside Dekan’s Shadow World.
Professor Arnold had rushed toward Dekan with his fastest speed.
He discovered that Dekan was not moving at all. He stood there with his hands behind his back and an indifferent expression on his face.
He gave off the air of an exceptional expert.
Arnold was a bit confused by this.
Why isn’t he fleeing?
Could it be that he discovered that the difficulty had increased and decided to protest his treatment with his actions by directly confronting me?
While it was true that Arnold had increased the difficulty for Dekan’s exam, he believed that it was still conforming to the rules of the exam.
As such, it was not a violation.
“Where’s your weapon?”
Feeling slightly guilty, Arnold did not directly attack Dekan.
Dekan didn’t answer. Instead, he raised the distinctive lolita doll in his right hand and waved it.
It seemed like he had no intention of forfeiting the match.
Professor Arnold started frowning.
Dekan’s attire and his attitude… Even though he had seen all sorts of unconventional fighters, he had never seen someone like him.
There’s countless aspects for him to ridicule. Yet, he was at a loss for words due to the enormous displeasure he felt.
Nevertheless, as he was an examiner now, it was unsuitable for him to delay the exam.
Since the examinee had such an attitude, the only thing he should do was to eliminate this examinee and send him out of the Shadow World as soon as possible.
Professor Arnold took a deep breath.
“I’m sorry but you’ll have to choose a more suitable college to apply to next year.”
After saying that, Arnold raised the silver sword he held in his hand and slashed straight down.
A chilling aura of death immediately engulfed Dekan.
Under such a distance, it was impossible for him to dodge the incoming attack!
But, Dekan had no intention of dodging at all.
He was waiting for this moment!
He had been placing his left hand behind his back the entire time. In that hand was a magic card.
It was his trump card.
It was also the core component of his deck, the card that would bring forth his victory!
The moment Dekan poured his magic power into the card, an overflowing dazzling orange light engulfed him!
A ray of light suddenly shot forth and formed a golden totem in midair.
The magic card Dekan was holding in his left hand had disappeared and materialized itself.
Although it was not his first time summoning this card, Dekan was still able to sense the terrifying power emitted by the card.
Summoning complete!
What followed was a black mist overflowing with a strange aura.
The black mist rushed toward the surface. Like a tide, it spread all around and covered the ground completely.
The core of this black mist was right behind Dekan!
A man emitting an intense aura of the dead slowly emerged from the black mist.
He held in his hand a book that emitted a faint green light.
Sorrow filled his face. A mourning voice could soon be heard.
“This boundless fog is my boundless grief…”
……
Cries of shock and alarm filled the spectators’ area! They were in an utter panic!
“This special effect, could it be an Epic card?!”
“My god! Is it really an Orange Epic?!”
“Isn’t it too excessive to bring an Epic card to an entrance exam?!”
“Who is he? Some sort of wealthy young master coming here to experience life?”
Even when Orange Epic cards would appear, they would generally only appear when watching people of stature.
How could such an Orange Epic card appear in an entrance exam?!
Soon, the identity of Dekan’s Orange Epic card appeared on the broadcast screen.
[Ruined Poet]
[Category: Summoning Card]
[Rarity: Orange Epic]
[Tier: 1]
[Attack: 0]
[Life: 100]
[Effect: Affect the wisdom of all enemy creatures through magic poetry, increasing their sense of pain to 1000%]
[Note: “Pain! Too painful!”]
……
Professor Arnold’s downward slash had arrived at Dekan’s chest!
Dekan’s timing was perfect. He summoned the Ruined Poet right when Professor Arnold’s attack was about to reach him.
With the effect of his three cards, they would reflect a total of sixty times the sense of pain!
Even though the artificial Shadow Realm’s sense of pain was limited to only ¼, his opponent would still receive 15 times the sense of pain!
As the sword struck on Dekan’s chest, 15 times of pain was sent back to Professor Arnold.
Dekan was forced back several steps after receiving the strike. He fell to the ground and started rolling around several times in pain.
“Damn, this hurts so much!”
Holding his chest, Dekan stood back up.
The Crown of Suffering gave him momentarily invincibility and saved him from the fatal attack.
Nevertheless, he still received the pain of his chest and breastbone being slashed into two. Even now, he could still feel that pain.
As for Professor Arnold…
He was foaming from his mouth and lying unconscious on the ground…
Soon after, Professor Arnold was declared to have lost consciousness and teleported out from the Shadow World.
“Fuuu---”
Dekan heaved a sigh of relief.
Fortunately the examiner completely fainted and he didn’t have to do anything more.
Not long after, he saw the message notification.
[Shadow World cleared. Total time: 57 seconds]
[Achieved special qualification of defeating the examiner. Received S grade evaluation.]
[Special clear. Bonus points with the remaining time: 29 minutes and 3 seconds.]
[Score is being calculated…]
[Score: 1.557x10^13]
[Final evaluation: SSS]
[Soon leaving the Shadow World. Examinee, please prepare…]
Little did Dekan know, the people outside were in a complete chaos talking about what just happened.
“Which lunatic created this unscrupulous card?!!”
“There’s freaks in the Knight College this year…”
“Not only is there an examinee chasing after beating up the examiner, there’s also this sort of extremely vicious deviant, it’s a dual joyous event for the Knight College.”
“He didn’t even bring the maximum amount of magic cards with him…”
There was a limit to the amount of magic cards a person’s soul could bind to at once.
For a tier 2 individual like Dekan, the sum of the tiers for the cards he had bound his soul with cannot be more than 20.
For a tier 3 individual, the sum cannot be more than 30.
In other words, if Dekan was to carry only tier 2 cards with him, he could only bring with him 10 cards.
If he was to bring some tier 1 cards, he would be able to bring more than 10 cards.
The ‘cost’ of using lower tier cards was less.
That was the reason why some high quality low tier cards would still be used when one’s tier reached high level.
As for Dekan, he used only three cards to clear the entrance exam.
The reason for that was because his main magic cards were all forbidden to be used in the exam because of the rules.
……
Upon exiting the exam room, Dekan was able to see Professor Arnold being lifted away by the medical personnels.
He heaved a sigh of relief.
Fifteen times the pain shouldn’t be enough to cause any lasting effects.
Fortunately the artificial Shaod World’s pain level was set to ¼. Else, Professor Arnold might’ve ascended.
“I kept a low profile, no one should’ve discovered me, right?”
Dekan felt that since there were so many examinees taking the exam at the same time and that his exam only lasted for over a minute when adding on the preparation time, he should only be on the broadcast screen for a brief moment.
He believed that he would, at most, appear in one or two camera shots.
Humming a tune, he started to quickly walk toward the exit.
He discovered that Theresia was already waiting for him by the exit.
She was panting. It seemed like she ran over here.
She looked around in worry. After confirming that there was no one else paying attention over here, she grabbed Dekan’s hand and started running, dragging him.
“Hey hey! Theresia, what’s going on?”
Although Dekan was at a loss as to what was going on, he still followed Theresia and started running.
“If you don’t run now, you’ll be surrounded like a rare animal,” explained Theresia.
“What happened?”
“Do you remember what happened earlier? You took over the entire broadcast!”
“Eh? Such a thing happened?”
“That’s right!”
The moment the plain field and Professor Arnold as the examiner appeared, the broadcast started paying attention to Dekan.
Dekan’s following performance completely surpassed everyone’s expectations.
Dekan started thinking about it. If his battle against Professor Dekan was seen by everyone…
“Ahhh, so annoying!”
Dekan shouted all of a sudden. Theresia was shocked.
“What happened?”
“If I knew the entire world was focused on me, I’d take this opportunity to advertise myself! I missed out on this!”
“......”
“Theresia, what’s wrong? Why are you quiet?”
“Let’s discuss what to eat for tonight. As a celebration of you passing the exam, it’s my treat!”
Theresia smiled helplessly.
