Chapter 62: Qin Shuman Restored Her Body
Facing Qin Shuman's sudden attack, Qiu Tu remained unfazed.
Had Qin Shuman truly intended to kill him, his "Crisis Detection" would have warned him. Since it hadn’t, he deduced that this was just part of her "playful antics."
With this thought, Qiu Tu not only refrained from dodging but even leaned his neck forward, curious to see if Qin Shuman genuinely intended to harm him.
Sure enough, at the critical moment, the gleaming dagger stopped at Qiu Tu's throat.
Qin Shuman's seductive voice asked, "Chief Qiu~~ you didn't dodge? Do you think I won’t kill you because you can help me restore my body?"
Hearing her, Qiu Tu wrapped his arm around her slender waist, pressing her hot body tightly against his own. Leaning close to her ear, he whispered, "No. I'd willingly die at your hands."
Blushing slightly at his cheesy line, Qin Shuman stabbed the dagger hard into Qiu Tu's shoulder! Unfortunately, the dagger was just a silver-glowing paper prop, incapable of causing harm.
Seeing this, Qiu Tu played along, "Ouch, it hurts! Miss Qin, you must take responsibility."
Amused by Qiu Tu's shamelessness, Qin Shuman laughed and gave him a knee to the stomach, "You're shameless."Holding his stomach, Qiu Tu teased, "Seems you still care for me; otherwise, you'd aim two inches lower."
"You!" Qin Shuman, gritting her teeth, felt like actually hitting him there.
However, Qiu Tu quickly shielded himself, leaving her no chance.
Frustrated, she glared at him but then turned to enter the room, turning on the light, "Come on, let’s talk."
Qin Shuman could switch between playful and serious seamlessly. Watching her walk confidently, exuding a commanding aura, Qiu Tu followed, matching her serious demeanor.
Entering the hotel room, Qiu Tu noticed a woman in a military uniform lying on one of the two beds. She looked younger than Qin Shuman but was equally beautiful, with a more resolute presence.
Looking closely, Qiu Tu saw a resemblance to Qin Shuman. He asked, "Is this your real body?"
Qin Shuman, gazing at her own body, nodded slightly with a complex expression. After a moment, she looked at Qiu Tu, “Disappointed?”
Qiu Tu shook his head, “Excited, actually!”
Annoyed by his response, Qin Shuman rolled her eyes, “You really have no sense of propriety.”
Qiu Tu laughed, knowing her underlying concern, and sincerely praised, “Both are beautiful.”
A faint smile appeared on Qin Shuman’s lips before she collected herself, sitting on a chair to discuss business, "You said you could help me restore my body?"
Qiu Tu nodded, pulling out the "Nightmare Crystal Bottle". "This is a cataclysmic artifact called the ‘Purification Holy Bottle’. Its liquid can remove all cataclysmic powers from the body."
Suspicious, Qin Shuman eyed the bottle, "Are you fooling me? Does such an artifact really exist?"
Qiu Tu confidently nodded, "Try it if you don't believe me."
Handing her the bottle, Qin Shuman hesitated but then decided to trust him, pulling out the stopper and sniffing it. The strong scent of alcohol made her suspicious, but Qiu Tu gestured for her to continue.
After a brief hesitation, she tilted her head back and drank the liquid, frowning at the strong, burning sensation—like drinking 56-degree white liquor.
Glaring at Qiu Tu, she wondered if he was tricking her. But just then, Qiu Tu activated his "Reshape Order".
In an instant, gray mist enveloped them, the material world fading. Qiu Tu set the rule: "Remove the cataclysmic power from this woman and restore her soul to her body".
As the rule took effect, a mysterious power enveloped Qin Shuman. One moment she was suspicious, the next she lost consciousness.
Seeing her collapse onto the bed, Qiu Tu knew the ability had worked. He deactivated his power, immediately feeling the familiar dizziness, and sat on the bed to recover.
After five or six minutes, Qiu Tu felt better and looked at the still-unconscious Qin Shuman, amazed. He had only used his ability for a few seconds, yet it consumed as much energy as using it for several minutes the previous night.
Reflecting on the significant drain, Qiu Tu realized that specific uses of his power, especially those involving restoring someone's body and soul, demanded a lot more energy. This understanding prompted him to be more cautious with future use, especially in critical situations.
As Qiu Tu continued to recover his strength, he waited patiently for Qin Shuman to regain consciousness, ready to see if her body and soul had truly been restored.
Qiu Tu understood that setting rules related to "Cataclysmic Abilities" required paying a much higher "cost" than ordinary rules. Fortunately, he had learned from his experience last night that his ability was not a wish-granting tool. Otherwise, if he had lingered a few minutes longer tonight, he might have been drained completely. With this in mind, Qiu Tu silently warned himself not to overuse his Cataclysmic Ability unless absolutely necessary, fearing unknown and potentially terrifying consequences.
Reflecting on this, Qiu Tu half-lay beside the two women, quietly recuperating his mental energy while comparing their sizes, and waited for Qin Shuman to wake up.
“Rain Butterfly” felt like she had been dreaming for a long time. In her dream, she seemed to become Qin Shuman, entangled with a man. The man was handsome but seemed burdened with many concerns. His brow always carried a shadow of melancholy, and his heart was perpetually vigilant. Despite their repeated physical intimacy and her sincere openness, he remained guarded. He reported to Yan Chen that she was a plant sent by the Municipal Hall but then turned and told her he lied, claiming she was from the military.
Though he had secretly planned their escape, promising she could cooperate, he revealed nothing more. Perhaps because they were both victims of the same event—two lonely souls residing in others' bodies—she felt he was special and grew increasingly interested and curious about him.
The dream seemed to go on endlessly. When Qin Shuman finally awoke, she found herself lying beside another "Qin Shuman" on the bed, with a hand wandering over them both. Stunned, she shook her dazed head, slowly regaining her thoughts. Surprised, she touched her face, then her body, and finally slapped Qiu Tu's mischievous hand away, rushing to the bathroom.
Unfazed by her slap, Qiu Tu leaned back with his hands behind his head, smiling as he watched Qin Shuman's excitement. Moments later, she ran out of the bathroom, her face brimming with excitement, "Qiu Tu! I'm back! I'm really back!"
Qiu Tu nodded, teasingly saying, "Congratulations, Miss Qin. Hmm, no, I should call you Section Chief Rain Butterfly now?"
At his words, Qin Shuman remembered her identity. Realizing Qiu Tu was reminding her, she composed herself, suppressing her exuberance. Even so, her beautiful eyes, when looking at Qiu Tu, still held deep affection. Only she knew the despair she felt being trapped in another's body and her intense longing to return to her own. Facing Qiu Tu's tease, she responded seductively, "Chief Qiu, names are just labels. Call me whatever you like. Between us, it doesn't matter. Besides, Rain Butterfly isn’t my real name."
She winked at him and returned to the bathroom to inspect her body. It took her about ten minutes to adjust her emotions before she emerged, composed. Qiu Tu carefully observed her. Compared to before, the restored Qin Shuman was less coquettish and frail, exuding a heroic and proud aura, with a strong confidence in her gaze. No wonder she held the position of Security Division Section Chief at such a young age.
Thinking this, Qiu Tu stretched and pulled out a cigarette to refresh himself. Just as he put it in his mouth, Qin Shuman strode over and snatched it from him. "Smoke less. It's bad for your health."
Feeling her concern, Qiu Tu spread his hands helplessly, "Can't help it, too much pressure."
Hearing this, Qin Shuman, while throwing away the cigarette, curiously asked, "Why the pressure? What's wrong?"
Qiu Tu blinked, "Isn't it about Deputy Chairman Tian and the RUF case?"
Hearing the keyword "RUF," Qin Shuman's eyes grew serious. "Deputy Chairman Tian and the RUF? What's the case?"
During Qin Shuman's coma, Qiu Tu had been pondering how to "prove his innocence" and handle Deputy Chairman Tian's case. Seeing Qin Shuman now fully conscious and hearing her question, Qiu Tu had a plan. Considering the Security Division’s primary task was to combat anti-government forces, and Qin Shuman held a wealth of intelligence, she could be a valuable resource. At the very least, she could offer insightful advice.
Taking advantage of Qin Shuman's interest, Qiu Tu detailed Deputy Chairman Tian’s case to her. Listening attentively, Qin Shuman fell into deep thought, lightly frowning and muttering, "Deputy Chairman Tian’s mistress is an RUF spy? Helping install eavesdropping devices in the communicators of many big businessmen? These businessmen are then robbed by the RUF when transporting materials out of the city?"
"The female spy admitted to the crime but claimed her presence by Deputy Chairman Tian's side was a coincidence?"
Qin Shuman’s analytical mind worked swiftly. After a moment, she looked up, her expression serious, "The RUF’s methods are becoming increasingly audacious. If Deputy Chairman Tian is truly involved, the impact will be immense. We need to act swiftly and cautiously."
Qiu Tu nodded, feeling reassured by her seriousness. They needed to collaborate efficiently to navigate the impending storm.
After a moment, Qin Shuman looked up at Qiu Tu with a serious expression. "Qiu Tu, this case is quite complex," she said. "The people involved are sensitive. If possible, I suggest you avoid getting involved in this case."
Hearing Qin Shuman's advice, Qiu Tu felt a jolt of concern. But it wasn’t about whether he wanted to be involved or not—the case was already affecting him directly. Thinking this, he smiled wryly and shrugged, "I'd like to avoid it too, but I'm the main suspect."
Qin Shuman looked at him with a puzzled expression, "You're the main suspect?"
Qiu Tu nodded, explaining helplessly, "I didn’t get to finish earlier. There's more to this case."
"Last night, I was responsible for interrogating that female spy. And just recently, she died in the holding cell, suspected of being silenced."
"Yan Chen is furious and wants a thorough investigation. Everyone who had contact with the spy, including me, has been listed as a primary suspect."
"What’s even more troublesome is that I used my cataclysmic ability outside the interrogation room last night."
