Chapter 55: Using the Cataclysmic Ability
With this thought, Qiu Tu grabbed the communicator and told Liu Fuping and Wang Xi, "You two continue preparing. I need to make a call."
Liu Fuping responded coquettishly, "Yes, sir."
Wang Xi also stood up straight and respectfully replied, "Understood, Chief."
After greeting them, Qiu Tu walked to the end of the corridor with the communicator in hand. He didn’t immediately return the call but first used his "Cataclysmic Ability".
Since leaving the Interrogation Office, Qiu Tu had felt as though someone was watching him. As a newly awakened cataclysmic individual, he trusted his heightened senses.
Stealthily, he checked his surroundings to ensure no one was around and then focused on the surveillance cameras throughout the Investigation Department. As one of the three main power structures in New Realm City, the department was equipped with comprehensive security and anti-theft measures, including multiple surveillance cameras on each floor.
Typically, these cameras were just for show and not actively monitored. However, the unusual feeling Qiu Tu had been experiencing made him suspect someone might be observing him through the surveillance feeds.
This suspicion peaked when he exchanged flirtatious glances with Liu Fuping. He noticed that the feeling of being watched had momentarily disappeared, as if the observer had lost interest or turned their attention elsewhere.
Now, as he prepared to make a call, that feeling returned. Clearly, the observer had noticed Qiu Tu's "situation." Unsure if the cameras had audio capabilities, Qiu Tu decided to eliminate all possibilities. Thus, he attempted to use his "Cataclysmic Ability" for the first time. Without hesitation or awkwardness, like an innate instinct, the ability "Reshape Order" activated as soon as Qiu Tu willed it.
In an instant, Qiu Tu's eyes turned bright blue, and a gray mist enveloped him. The surrounding environment began to fade, and he found himself in a small, four-square-meter space. He felt omnipotent within this space, capable of anything—no one could refuse or resist him.
It was a sensation of standing at the pinnacle of power, controlling everything.
‘So, this is my cataclysmic ability?’
Qiu Tu marveled internally, then forced himself to calm down and set the rules for this "Order Space" for the next 24 hours:
"When I enter this space, people, machines, and artifacts outside will only see, hear, and record me repeatedly dialing a phone without connecting."
With this rule established, the gray mist dissipated, and the material world returned to normal, appearing unchanged yet fundamentally different.
Turning to look behind him, Qiu Tu noticed Liu Fuping glancing at him as well. Their eyes met, but it was as if Liu Fuping didn’t see him. She casually fixed her hair and looked away.
Satisfied that his rule had taken effect, Qiu Tu didn’t waste any time. He pulled out both communicators and first used A Tai's to call Lin Zuo. Then he used his own to call A Tai's communicator, which, being in use, didn't connect.
As he finished, Lin Zuo's call went through. Clearly, Lin Zuo had been waiting, as he picked up immediately after one ring.
Lin Zuo’s cold voice came through, "Qiu Tu, you’re playing games with the Security Division."
Hearing this, Qiu Tu knew Lin Zuo had interrogated Fourth Master Qin. But he couldn’t admit to any deceit, so he laughed, "Chief Lin, what are you talking about? You're the Security Division. Even if I had eight lives, I wouldn’t dare mess with you."
Lin Zuo chuckled sarcastically, "Really? Then why does Fourth Master Qin claim he knows nothing about Yan Chen’s collusion with the anti-government forces? He also said you tricked him, making him believe we were investigating the Qin family’s ties to the rebels. How do you explain that?"
Feigning surprise, Qiu Tu responded, "What? That can't be right! He told me yesterday he had evidence against Yan Chen!"
Pausing for a moment, Qiu Tu pretended to realize something, "Could he be scared and backing out? Chief Lin, he was already wavering when he went to meet you. He called me multiple times, threatening and flattering, trying to avoid reporting Yan Chen. I had to threaten him with his family to make him comply. He's probably lying to protect himself."
"Qiu Tu, fuck you!"
"What the fucking…"
"You bastard…"
Before Qiu Tu could continue shifting blame, a stream of profanity came from the other end of the line. Apparently, worried about being tricked, Lin Zuo had put the call on speaker, allowing Fourth Master Qin to hear every word Qiu Tu said.
Caught off guard, Qiu Tu felt this was one of the most embarrassing moments since his transmigration. But it wasn't entirely his fault. Who would have thought rule-abiding Lin Zuo would break confidentiality rules and let an outsider hear a private conversation between two confidential departments?
Fortunately, Qiu Tu had a backup plan.
Adopting a serious tone, he addressed Lin Zuo, "Chief Lin, what you did just now violates confidentiality regulations."
"I have the right to file a complaint against you with the military for dereliction of duty once this case is over."
Lin Zuo was not intimidated by Qiu Tu's threat. He replied coldly, "But first, you need to get through this situation. Qiu Tu, I'll give you one last chance to explain. If your explanation doesn't satisfy me, I'll end our cooperation and report your actions to the Municipal Council and the Investigation Department. Let them deal with you."
Hearing this, Qiu Tu laughed, displaying a brazen disregard for consequences, "You won't do that. If you report me, the Municipal Council and the Investigation Department will know you're secretly investigating Yan Chen. Investigating a high-ranking official without evidence is a major scandal. Not just you, even General Ye might face reproach from the shelter."
"You!" Lin Zuo was clearly infuriated by Qiu Tu's reckless attitude. He was about to argue further when Qiu Tu interrupted, "Alright, Chief Lin, enough teasing. I do have a breakthrough. Now, hand the phone to Qin Shuman. I need to speak with her directly."
Qin Shuman's true identity was that of the head of the Security Division's Investigation Department, and Lin Zuo, her confidant, was well aware of this. Qiu Tu also knew her intimately from their past collaborations. Among the four on the call, only Fourth Master Qin was unaware of Qin Shuman's real identity.
Completely puzzled, Fourth Master Qin watched as Qin Shuman stood up and reached for the communicator. Lin Zuo, seeing this, handed it to her without hesitation.
Seeing this, Fourth Master Qin's confusion deepened: ‘Wait a minute, why is Qin Shuman taking the call? Isn’t she just Yan Chen's mistress and Qiu Tu's fling? Why does Qiu Tu want to talk to her directly? And why does Chief Lin seem so respectful towards her?’
His gaze shifted to Qin Shuman's bandaged and blood-stained shoulder, and a terrifying realization struck him: ‘Oh crap! Did Qiu Tu trick me again? Who the hell did I stab?!’
As Fourth Master Qin was reeling from shock, Qin Shuman began speaking with Qiu Tu.
She first turned off the speakerphone, then spoke with a sweet yet sarcastic tone, "Chief Qiu, you really are ruthless~~ I was so genuine with you, yet you not only played with the Security Division but also got me stabbed for nothing~~"
Standing beside her, Fourth Master Qin turned pale.
On the other end of the line, Qiu Tu responded with a smile, "Shuman, you must understand, I did all this for you."
"Oh? Really?" Qin Shuman replied skeptically, "Chief Qiu, are you trying to shift the blame onto me?"
Qiu Tu, controlling the pace of the conversation, threw out his bait, "I'm not shifting blame. I'm telling the truth. I'm being watched by Jia Shu and don't have time to explain in detail. But I hope you believe me. I did all this to find a way to restore your health. And fortunately, I found it."
