Just as Luo Ziling was hesitating on whether or not to walk forward, Yang Qingyin, who was talking to the tall guy, turned around.

As if she knew he had arrived.

There was some distance between the two people. However, Luo Ziling could see Yang Qingyin’s sudden smile when she laid eyes on him.

Her smile was so infectious it made Luo Ziling’s concerns vanish instantly. He then strode forward.

The boy at Yang Qingyin’s side also turned his head and looked at the approaching Luo Ziling.

As Luo Ziling got closer, he removed his gaze from Yang Qingyin and focused on the guy instead.

He was flawless, in terms of appearance and temperament. He had similar characteristics as those handsome male celebrities seen on TV or in movies. He also had an air of nobility which made Luo Ziling feel small.

Luo Ziling stared at the guy for a long while before focusing his eyes on Yang Qingyin again as he smiled shyly.

Yang Qingyin remained cool. She wasn’t embarrassed, or fazed in any way, even with a handsome guy standing beside her. She gave Luo Ziling another intoxicating smile.

The handsome guy beside Yang Qingyin felt uneasy seeing the smile on her face.

After all, Yang Qingyin, the goddess of Yenching University, was known for looking arrogant in front of others. It was rare to find her smiling, let alone so brightly.

He hardly ever saw such a beautiful smile on her face, which left him dumbstruck at once. In the next moment, however, he felt dejected when he realized Yang Qingyin was smiling at another man and not him. Fortunately, he was well-mannered. Although he was uncomfortable and had unexplainable feelings of hostility toward Luo Ziling, he didn’t project any of them. In fact, he was even smiling.

Luo Ziling returned the smile, albeit reluctantly. He wasn’t used to smiling at an unfamiliar and unfriendly person.

“I’d like to hear him play a song for me.” Yang Qingyin appeared to not have noticed the unfriendly atmosphere between the two guys. Perhaps she didn’t even care. She smiled and asked the handsome guy, “Do you intend to stay and listen?”

Yang Qingyin’s question stunned Luo Ziling. He could tell that she was asking him to leave.

Her underlying meaning was, ‘I want to hear his song on my own. I think it’s time for you to go.’

He was happy for no reason. It was the same feeling when his grandfather had praised and rewarded him when he was young.

“I know nothing about the dizi. I won’t disturb your music discussion.” Understanding the meaning behind Yang Qingyin’s words, he was somewhat indignant, but still said tactfully, “I gotta go now. I have something to do. We’ll meet next time.”

He then nodded at Luo Ziling and walked away.

Luo Ziling was a little surprised as he didn’t expect him to actually leave.

He wanted to ask Yang Qingyin about what happened and who the guy was. Yet he bit back his words.

It was too tacky for him to ask anything since the guy had been straightforward and Yang Qingyin did not seem to be bothered to explain or introduce him.

“This dizi was handmade by my grandpa. It is made of acacia bamboo from the foothills of Tianshan.” Luo Ziling smiled and waved the long dizi in his hand. “This is the first time I’ve brought it out since I came to Yenching.”

Luo Ziling didn’t question what just happened. Yang Qingyin was a little surprised but she was relieved. This shy little guy in front of her was really unique. She chuckled and said softly, “Your dizi is very precious.”

“It is. Whether from the aspect of sentiment or its quality.” Luo Ziling was proud. “The material was obtained from the foothills of Tianshan and it was soaked in snow water for two years. It has a rich tone.”

“It seems I’ve been blessed then.” Yang Qingyin smiled and looked at him, eyes bright.

Luo Ziling gave her a big smile. He licked his lips and brought the dizi to his mouth.

Soon, a clear dizi sound rang at the lakeside. It was smooth and soothing, just like a cool breeze in the night.

The song Luo Ziling played was Life in the Mountains on an Autumn Evening which Yang Qingyin had played the previous night. However, the way he played was much smoother and more tender. One could feel the sense of autumn flowing in the music if one listened attentively.

The song soon ended. Yang Qingyin was still enchanted with the charm of the music when Luo Ziling removed the dizi from his mouth.

“Bravo. I’m obsessed with it.” Yang Qingyin turned her head and smiled at him after a while. “You could be my teacher!”

Her smile was so lovely. Luo Ziling was once again dumbstruck.

Yang Qingyin could not help feeling rather pleased to see him suddenly forget himself.

“Thank you.” Luo Ziling smiled naturally and said, “I was afraid that you’d laugh at me.”

Yang Qingyin smiled again. There was an unspoken gentleness and charm in her smile that captivated him.

“I’ve gained so much from hearing the song you played.” Yang Qingyin playfully looked at him and softly spoke, “It’s time for me to go now. I haven’t had my dinner.”

“Eating on time and having a balanced diet prevents you from getting sick. Your body is quite frail. You need conditioning.” Luo Ziling finally relaxed.

The atmosphere earlier was too amazing and this had made him feel unsettled. He was afraid he would say or do the wrong thing. It would have been the best choice for the both of them to part with the beautiful feeling. However, he couldn’t help reminding her when she stared at him with her beautiful eyes.

He saw a trace of sickness in them when they met the previous day. He understood what it was as she spoke.

“I’ll eat when I want to. I’m too lazy to eat when I don’t want to.” Yang Qingyin replied with yet another playful smile.

She had no idea why she said that to him.

“My grandfather is a famous physician.” He reached out his hand to her.

Yang Qingyin was surprised and looked at Luo Ziling strangely. But soon she understood what he meant.

After hesitating for a while, she did the same.

Luo Ziling caught her soft and smooth wrist with three fingers and started feeling her pulse.

Yang Qingyin couldn’t help but giggle looking at Luo Ziling’s stern look. She asked softly as she chuckled, “Am I suffering from any sickness?”

Luo Ziling nodded his head without hesitation.

“You suffer from stomach aches sometimes. It’s caused by your irregular eating habits. You have moderate anaemia. It’s because you’re picky about food. Therefore, you always feel tired especially when you stand up after squatting down. And…”

Luo Ziling hesitated for a while but didn’t continue.

Yang Qingyin was shocked after hearing his diagnosis.

Had he discreetly found out about her condition from someone else? Or had he made that conclusion only by feeling her pulse?

“And what?” She was curious about what Luo Ziling hadn’t said.
