Chapter 336: You’re Taking Advantage of Me
(Eighth update, today’s updates have concluded, will continue with additional updates tomorrow)
Since the assassination attempt on the street that day, Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin kept a low profile.
In addition to not showing their true faces on the street, Luo Ziling also dragged Yang Qingyin through the alleys nearby, eventually shaking off Ye Xiaoli, who had been following them, leaving no trace behind.
“Are you trying to trick me into going somewhere? You’re not planning to kidnap me and sell me off, are you?” Yang Qingyin almost got dizzy from being led around in circles by Luo Ziling and couldn’t help but grumble, “I don’t even know where we are now.”
“I’m afraid someone else might be tracking us,” Luo Ziling chuckled, regretting that he hadn’t returned to his dorm; otherwise, he could have carried the gun that Li Haiyang had given him.
After speaking with Ouyang Feifei earlier, he was worried that someone would really come after him and shoot.
He was in the prime of his life, and his beautiful life had just begun; he certainly didn’t want to die.
Although carrying a gun didn’t mean he could easily fire it, having a gun on him would give him a bit more confidence.
“You’re really acting like an underground agent,” seeing Luo Ziling behaving so cautiously and still looking out for followers, Yang Qingyin couldn’t help but give a wry smile, “Are you afraid someone might ambush you?”
“Once bitten by a snake, one fears the rope for a decade!” Luo Ziling said, also giving a bitter smile, “They say that once the wound heals, the pain is forgotten, but my wound hasn’t even healed yet!”
Yang Qingyin tightened her grip on Luo Ziling’s hand and asked softly, “Is the wound feeling any better than at noon?”
Luo Ziling answered truthfully, “The front is a bit better, but I can’t see the back, and it feels very itchy.”
“Let me take a look for you,” Yang Qingyin stopped and reached to lift Luo Ziling’s shirt.
“Alright,” Luo Ziling eventually didn’t refuse, and in a secluded part of the alley, at a spot where nobody else was around, he let Yang Qingyin check his wound.
“It’s much better, seems like your medicine is truly miraculous,” Yang Qingyin inspected the wound carefully and then touched it a couple of times, “In another two days, it should be healed.”
“Senior sister, you’re taking advantage of me, looking and touching,” Luo Ziling joked.
Yang Qingyin’s face instantly turned red, and she pinched Luo Ziling, “You annoying junior, if you tease me again, I’ll stop talking to you.”
“Don’t be mad, you can look and touch me all you want without any charge, just like you did just now,” Luo Ziling continued, grabbing Yang Qingyin’s hand, “Let’s walk faster, I’m really hungry.”
The initially irritated Yang Qingyin had no choice but to follow Luo Ziling.
As they were walking, she suddenly seemed to think of something and asked Luo Ziling, “Has your family applied for a patent for this medicine you make?”
Luo Ziling shook his head, “No, my grandpa isn’t interested in dealing with that sort of thing.”
“Your family’s secret remedy is really good. If it were sold on the market, it would definitely make a lot of money.” Yang Qingyin said earnestly to Luo Ziling, “Junior, you could really talk to your mom about this, use the Luo family’s medicine formula, or the patent for the medicine, to build a large-scale pharmaceutical enterprise.”
Yang Qingyin’s casual remark seemed to strike a chord with Luo Ziling, and it reminded him of Ouyang Feifei’s proposal from the afternoon.
“My mom doesn’t seem to own any pharmaceutical companies!” In the end, that was all he replied.
“The Ling family does, but it’s not managed by your mom,” Yang Qingyin smiled, “Your mom definitely wouldn’t allow you to cooperate with other members of the Ling family, but you could start one on your own.”
“I’ll consider your suggestion seriously, senior sister.”
Hearing Luo Ziling say this, Yang Qingyin didn’t add anything else.
The two of them found a seafood restaurant a bit far from the school.
“Knowing you like seafood, let’s have it again today,” Yang Qingyin explained as they walked into the seafood restaurant.
Yang Qingyin’s words made Luo Ziling feel warm inside, and he smiled as he voiced his own preference, “Senior sister, next time let’s go to the restaurant you like, don’t worry about my taste.”
“Alright, next time I’ll take you to try other delicious foods,” Yang Qingyin didn’t refuse.
While they were enjoying their seafood feast, Ling Ruonan called.
She had replied to Luo Ziling’s message and, not having received his response, decided to call.
Ling Ruonan had an important meeting today, so Luo Ziling couldn’t reply to her message right after getting his phone back, and she was unable to respond immediately.
After she finished with her business, she replied, but without waiting for a response, she immediately called.
“Mom, I’m out having dinner,” Luo Ziling somewhat awkwardly told Ling Ruonan his whereabouts, “The injury on my body is much better, it’s no big deal now.”
“Out for dinner, huh,” Ling Ruonan seemed to sense something from Luo Ziling’s words and asked quietly, “Are you with Yang Qingyin?”
“Yes,” Luo Ziling hesitated for a moment but admitted it.
On the other side of the phone, Ling Ruonan hesitated for a few seconds before asking softly, “Mom wants to talk to her again, would you like that?”
Luo Ziling didn’t know how to answer right away, and finally turned to Yang Qingyin while covering the phone, “My mom wants to talk to you again, would you be willing?”
Yang Qingyin had actually already heard Ling Ruonan’s words on the phone, and when Luo Ziling asked her this, she agreed without hesitation, “I was actually just thinking of talking to Mrs. Ling about something!”
Luo Ziling promptly conveyed Yang Qingyin’s response to Ling Ruonan.
After asking where they were having dinner, Ling Ruonan told them to wait half an hour for her, and she would come over.
After hanging up the phone, Luo Ziling asked Yang Qingyin with a quizzical look, “Last time we had a meal, your mom barged in; this time we’re having a feast, and my mom is coming. Do parents just not trust us kids?”
“Last time, you were retaliated against right at the school gate, and just a few days ago you were stabbed. Your mom definitely wants to inquire, and it’s normal for her to want to talk to me,” Yang Qingyin took Luo Ziling’s hand gently and said, “These incidents all arose because of me, so I also want to talk to her. But I was afraid you might mind, so I didn’t initiate it. Now that she wants to talk, it’s the perfect chance.”
“Alright,” since Yang Qingyin said so, Luo Ziling had no more to say on the matter.
Luo Ziling then ordered a few more dishes to avoid Ling Ruonan arriving to nothing but leftovers.
“Junior brother, when I talk with your mom later, could you step aside for a bit, alright?” Yang Qingyin softly suggested after Luo Ziling finished ordering, “I have some things I want to discuss with her privately.”
After looking intently into Yang Qingyin’s eyes for a moment, Luo Ziling eventually nodded in agreement.
“Okay, then. I’ll go out for some fresh air, and when I come back I can have a few big bowls of rice.” Having said that, he grinned.
Yang Qingyin rolled her eyes in response.
About thirty-five minutes later, Ling Ruonan, wearing a pair of large-framed glasses similar to sunglasses, appeared inside their private room.
As soon as Ling Ruonan entered, Luo Ziling and Yang Qingyin immediately stood up.
