Chapter 312: 312: Giving You a Gift

Chapter 312: Giving You a Gift
During the drive, Lin Lan didn’t share what event Li Haiyang was going to attend, and it was only after meeting Li Haiyang that Luo Ziling listened and understood what the event specifically entailed.

During the National Day period, there were many patriotic education activities. The National Museum and the Military Museum had military history exhibitions, which some of Li Haiyang’s superiors and comrades attended.

Li Haiyang, who originally didn’t like to participate in these events, decided to attend because his superiors and comrades would be there.

Of course, this was the reason Li Haiyang gave Luo Ziling. The real reason was: Li Haiyang had been out of the public eye for too long and wanted to make a public appearance.

This was his own thought, as well as the expectations of others.

After Li Haiyang was injured and unable to handle affairs, many people considered him a spent force, and thus many coveted his position, hoping to replace him.

But since no one could match his prestige, and with some not wishing to see him replaced, the question of whether Dragon Rise’s leadership would change remained unresolved.

Originally, Li Haiyang thought he had no chance of standing up again, but after receiving treatment from Luo Ziling, he felt the possibility of resuming a normal life, and thus seized the opportunity to make an appearance today.

He wanted outsiders to notice some of his changes, so if anyone was thinking of taking his place, they would have to reconsider carefully.

Of course, Luo Ziling couldn’t have guessed that the situation was this complicated.

Li Haiyang had been kind to him, and Luo Ziling was quite happy to accompany the old gentleman today.

Before setting off, Luo Ziling gave Li Haiyang a quick massage to ensure his spirits would be better when going out. While massaging, Luo Ziling smiled and said to Li Haiyang, “Senior, I believe that by next year’s National Day activities, you will definitely be able to walk there.”

“I hope so,” Li Haiyang laughed heartily, slightly moving his hand, “These two legs and hands have not moved for a long time, I really want to move them properly.”

“Senior, the function of your hand has already improved a lot, and it’s only been a little over half a month. I believe that by the Lunar New Year, your hands will definitely be able to perform simple movements, and maybe even your legs will be able to move. By next year, you might be able to walk there on your own, holding things, without needing help from others,” said Luo Ziling confidently.

After more than twenty days of treatment, Li Haiyang’s hands could now perform slight movements. Though these movements were nowhere near those of a normal person and could only be described as minimal, this was already a breakthrough from quantitative to qualitative change. A good beginning is half the success, and with further treatment, miracles were sure to occur.

Luo Ziling planned to intensify the treatment in the coming period and prepare better medication for Li Haiyang to take, as well as have the nurses give him more massages, enabling his muscles to recover function as quickly as possible and further rehabilitating his nervous system.

Li Haiyang’s body was originally very strong, but due to the injury and poisoning, his nervous system was damaged. With the poisons eliminated and through various treatments, there was still a great possibility for the nerve and muscle functions to recover slowly.

“Ziling, if I can stand up, I will make sure to thank you properly,” Li Haiyang’s laugh was bright and clear, “Later, I will give you a gift.”

“What gift?” Luo Ziling was quite curious.

“It’s a secret for now, we’ll talk after the event is over.”

“Alright,” seeing the amused expression on Li Haiyang’s face, Luo Ziling didn’t press further.

After the brief treatment, Luo Ziling and a staff member lifted Li Haiyang into the car.

Li Haiyang was riding in the same Hummer that Lin Lan used to pick up Luo Ziling, and Luo Ziling also rode in the same vehicle, still in the front passenger seat. Li Haiyang and a nurse were in the back seat, accompanied by two other vehicles with staff members.

When leaving, Luo Ziling didn’t see Lin Lan, which made him feel somewhat disappointed.

Having interacted with Lin Lan quite a bit, the feelings in his heart had long changed; at the very least, he considered Lin Lan a friend, a rather good friend. Knowing that she was going to perform a task, and a highly dangerous one at that, Luo Ziling couldn’t help feeling concerned.

He hoped that Lin Lan would return safely, without any mishaps.

Such a beautiful girl, it would be such a waste if she were to perish.

With this in mind, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but feel some resentment towards the high-ranking officials of Dragon Rise, and even towards Li Haiyang. With so many men around, it was baffling that they would send Lin Lan on a mission, especially since she still hadn’t fully recovered from her last injury!

On the way, he couldn’t help but complain about Lin Lan’s situation.

“Did she tell you?” Li Haiyang was quite surprised Luo Ziling would complain about this.

“No, I guessed,” Luo Ziling naturally wouldn’t reveal that Lin Lan told him about the mission, “Senior, she said she couldn’t pick me up and had to send someone else. That’s when I guessed she had a mission. I don’t quite understand, she hasn’t fully recovered from her last injury, how could you send her on a new mission?”

“Don’t worry about her; nothing will happen,” Li Haiyang laughed, then asked again, “You’re quite concerned about her, aren’t you?”

“I saved her life, and I healed such a severe injury for her; of course, I care about her safety,” Luo Ziling said confidently.

“She will be back soon,” Li Haiyang didn’t wish to discuss more about Lin Lan’s mission.

Luo Ziling had no choice but to stop asking.

The convoy soon arrived at the National Museum, and Li Haiyang was carried off the vehicle and entered the museum through the accessible passage.

Luo Ziling and the nurse closely followed, with him personally pushing Li Haiyang’s wheelchair.

The People’s Army’s military history exhibition started at ten o’clock, and they arrived at nine fifty. After entering the museum, they were just in time for the opening ceremony.

Soldiers have a strong sense of time: never late, always on schedule.

There were quite a few people attending the opening ceremony, most of whom were soldiers in military uniforms.

Li Haiyang also had the rank of major general, although he was not wearing his military uniform that day.

Even in casual clothes and a wheelchair, his prestige was not diminished, and as soon as he appeared in the venue, many eyes turned towards him.

The formidable aura he carried still caused many to feel awe.

After the opening ceremony, Li Haiyang exchanged courteous pleasantries with the other attendees, and then had Luo Ziling push him to slowly view the exhibition.

Although the opening ceremony of the military history exhibition was held today, the number of visitors was not limited; after the ceremony ended, the exhibition hall was quickly filled with visitors. Just as Luo Ziling was pushing Li Haiyang to take a slow tour, a visitor suddenly stopped in front of them.

When Luo Ziling saw who had stopped them, his eyes widened in shock.
