It took Luo Ziling dragging Cao Jianhui a far enough distance for him to finally calm down.
“I’m good. I’m good. I’m not going to fuss about it anymore if you are good too,” barked Cao Jianhui.
He was still a little annoyed. The mood to sing his lungs out was long gone. He called out to the other three, “Come on, let’s go find a place for a late night snack and booze. We’ll sing some other time.”
“Alright,” said Luo Ziling, agreeing to Cao Jianhui’s idea to go for a drink.
The four of them changed direction and headed out of the campus gates. This time, they were going to look for something to eat.
Just when the group was walking along a long pathway lined with trees, Luo Ziling noticed a person… a girl was standing by the trees. It was Ouyang Huihui. The others saw her too and they immediately froze in place.
“Boss, she must be waiting for you,” said Cao Jianhui. His expression made him look like an angry bulldog. “Go and deal with her. We’ll wait for you up front.”
Luo Ziling frowned hard but eventually chose to go to her.
“I was waiting for you,” she said before he was even within earshot.
Luo Ziling glared at her. “Why would you push them to fight us?” he asked in a hostile tone.
She scoffed before answering, “To get back at you, of course.”
But at the end of it all, she was scared that Luo Ziling would contact her grandfather to ‘snitch’ on her. If Ouyang Lingyun got involved, she would definitely be in trouble.
“What do you want?” baked Luo Ziling.
He hadn’t expected Ouyang Huihuo to be so straightforward. Nevertheless, he was not at all comfortable with the idea of her getting back at him.
“I have done nothing to wrong you. So, why are you so vengeful?”
“Done nothing?!” roared Ouyang Huihui. “Why you little hill— you bastard! You came to our house, you hurt my sister’s feelings, you brought humiliation to our family name, and!” she paused as she emphasized the word ‘and’, “And you humiliated me! I’m not done with you!”
Luo Ziling scoffed. “Looks like calling off the engagement was the right decision. I bet your sister shares your temper. If I were to marry her, I would be damning myself for the rest of my life.”
He was pissed. He was not going to do anything to save their face. Not her elder sister’s and certainly not hers.
“I hit the jackpot by calling off the engagement,” he added.
“You—!”
Ouyang Huihui was once again so angry to the point of bursting a blood vessel.
“Who do you think you are? You’re nothing! You’re never going to have the qualifications to marry my sister! Not even in your dreams!”
“Is that all you have to say? Not even in my dreams? I wish you would not appear in them! From here on out, I consider us strangers. How about that? Don’t disturb me anymore. I do not want to see you or even get involved with you!”
Having said what had to be said, Luo Ziling promptly turned and left. As he walked away, he muttered under his breath, “I’ve never seen such an unreasonable woman in my life! I pity the fool who marries you!”
“Bastard! Stay right there!” howled Ouyang Huihui. She finally snapped and immediately chased after Luo Ziling when he started to walk away. “Stay. Goddammit! You would still mock me! I’ll get you now!”
Figuratively speaking, she was a princess. She had been living as such for as long as she could remember—as a prideful princess. Every other man she had encountered always saw her as an idol, a person to be cherished and pampered.
Everyone who met her would regret not bowing and lowering themselves in front of her. So was her life, looking down at all others. Yet now, there was someone, a man who came from the countryside, a man who knew nothing about the urban lifestyle, but still decided to mock her personally. And that was something she could never accept.
“What the… what are you doing?” bellowed Luo Ziling.
He was done talking. He was completely done with her. But why would she not leave him alone?! What more could this troublesome woman want with him?
Ouyang Huihui was coming for him and Luo Ziling quickly came up with a plan to run and hide. He was scared that his other roommates would notice the sudden commotion and might jump to conclusions. Hence, he chose to run away from them as well.
Angry beyond all reason, Ouyang Huihui ran after Luo Ziling when he started to escape. He ran towards the trees and so there she went too. It was clear that she was not going to stop. So, after running a few tens of meters away, it was Luo Ziling who stopped in his tracks.
“What do you want with me?!” he barked, facing Ouyang Huihui who was a good distance away from him, “Hmph. Calling you a crazy b*tch might be a factual statement after all.”
Ouyang Huihui shrieked at the top of her lungs, like a banshee, “You called me crazy again!”
She did not care for anything else then. As if she had nothing to lose, she threw herself at Luo Ziling, raising her legs up to kick him.
“I’ll kick you! I’ll kick your face! Stupid bastard! Idiot ruffian!”
Luo Ziling saw the kick from a mile away and dodged it easily. At that moment, he noticed her form. Immediately, he knew that this young lady was trained in martial arts and might have actually learned a thing or two about it.
For him, however, having the form was not enough to pose a threat. He simply took a step away to avoid the kick entirely. Ouyang Huihui did not stop when her kick missed its target. She quickly turned around and tried to land another one.
Luo Ziling finally decided to act. He closed the distance between them and intercepted her kick with one of his own. With a loud shriek, the poor girl was flipped, with her face facing downward.
Her body was falling and she could only fling her hands around in a frenzy. Luo Ziling really wanted to ignore that. He wanted her to have a taste of pain.
Yet, he could not bring himself to do just that and quickly acted to save her. Right before she was about to kiss the ground, Luo Ziling reached out and grabbed her by the waist, preventing her fall.
“Stupid bastard! Idiot ruffian!” cried Ouyang Huihui, with both despair and anger in her voice.
After everything she tried to do to him, she ended up in Luo Ziling’s embrace. If she had a knife on her, she would have already made a honeycomb out of him.
“Ouyang Huihui, are you trying to flirt with me?” snarled Luo Ziling angrily.
She had almost fallen in front of him on numerous occasions and he was starting to believe that she was doing it on purpose.
“You have been trained in martial arts. How are you tripping on air? If you are going to put on an act, you have to do better!”
“WHAT?!”
Ouyang Huihui was so angry that she could shoot fire out of her eyes. She even had a deranged look on her face when she heard what Luo Ziling was accusing her of.
“What did you say? You think I am trying to flirt with you?! Have you looked at a mirror before?! Do you really think I would go for someone like you? Stupid! Idiot! Dog! Bastard! I’ll kill you!”
Luo Ziling gave up. Ouyang Huihui was so angry and her eyes were now bloodshot red. The only thing he could do then was drop everything and flee.
