Ouyang Huihui did not even try to contain her excitement. On the other hand, Ouyang Feifei was doing a great job at completely ignoring her younger sister. There she was, still comfortably leaning against the end of the sofa.

“He is currently studying at the same university as you—Yenching University. He’s a first year student in the Medical Department.”

“That’s great,” squeaked Ouyang Huihui. “I’ll have plenty of opportunities to teach him a lesson.”

Like Luo Ziling, Ouyang Huihui was also a first year student at Yenching University. She was majoring in International Finance, which placed her in a different faculty than Luo Ziling.

“Listen, his grandfather treated our grandfather’s ailment and mine as well. As such, the Luo family is the Ouyang family’s greatest benefactor. Without his grandfather’s help, our grandfather would have succumbed to his illness long ago. And I myself wouldn’t have lived to see the light of our family’s current success,” said Ouyang Feifei.

She rose from the sofa gently, and adjusted her clothes as she paraded towards the mirror. Turning around, she gazed at her reflection. Looking at her beautiful self, she could not help but sigh at the beauty that captivated even herself.

Although she would always be concerned about the marriage her grandfather arranged, there was still something about Luo Ziling that made her feel conflicted.

She remembered how her grandfather had taken her to the Northwest for treatment when she was just seven years old. There, she met Luo Ziling, and the two of them played together. Her happiest memories were all from the two months she spent there. Those days with Luo Ziling gave her the opportunity to learn many things.

One of the vividest memories she had of Luo Ziling was when he took her for a hiking trip up the mountains. She had accidentally hurt her leg, and the pain was so bad that she could not walk. The two-years-younger Luo Ziling had worked hard to massage her foot. He had even searched the mountains for herbs that he could use to give her emergency treatment, and eventually carried her down the mountain.

Back then, when she was crying from the excruciating pain, Luo Ziling did everything he could to comfort her. The five-year-old boy had carried a seven-year-old girl down the mountain.

Remembering it again now, a strange feeling started to rise.

Once, Ouyang Feifei had witnessed how Luo Ziling hunted and killed a wolf. It was the size of a regular dog, and he had cooked the meat for her to feast on. Such a display of manliness from a mere five-year-old created such a lasting impression that made her like him more.

She opposed their arranged marriage for two reasons. The first was a simple one—she did not like the fact that someone else got to dictate her life. Especially when it came to her own feelings.

The other reason, which was the most important one, was the fact that she was the senior. Luo Ziling was two years younger than her, and she didn’t like that her husband would be like a younger brother to her.

The end result was something that Ouyang Feifei could not have expected, not even in her dreams. A decision made by her grandfather, a decision made even though she was secretly protesting, turned out to be something no one had expected.

When Luo Ziling awkwardly confessed that he wanted to call off the engagement, she was furious. As she sent him off, she wanted to take that crystal rock with a heart-shaped formation inside it that he had given her all those years ago, and throw it in his face.

In her entire life, she had never been so humiliated. For as long as she could remember, everyone around her had treated her as nothing less than a princess. Countless men always surrounded her, and those men were not only rich and from prestigious families, the word ‘handsome’ would do no justice in describing their appearances.

This had been the norm for Ouyang Feifei, and she had gotten used to being treated as such. For as long as there were men around her, she would always think that men were only good for two things: compliments and making her feel happy.

Now, she was angry and wanted to teach Luo Ziling a lesson. He would soon learn that rejecting a woman comes with horrid consequences.

Ouyang Huihui paced next to her sister. The mirror now reflected two figures who were just too beautiful to be described.

“Sister, will you fall in love with him?”

Ouyang Feifei did not react.

Ouyang Huihui came in closer and whispered, “Sister, if you really fall for him, will you… marry him?”

“Well… we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it!”

It was a vague answer but Ouyang Huihui had long since gotten used to her sister’s unconventional responses. She gave it some thought and felt disgruntled.

“Sister, could you please tell me the thing about Ling Ruonan and that bastard’s father?”

“No!” Ouyang Feifei responded adamantly.

Ouyang Huihui pressed, “Come on! Please!”

She pulled her elder sister’s hands and continued to beg as she looked at Ouyang Feifei with sad puppy eyes. “If you don’t tell me, I won’t be able to sleep tonight! Please! Please tell me!”

Ouyang Feifei repeated the same answer verbatim, “No.” After giving it some thought, she suddenly cocked her head to the side and said, “Go and ask grandfather about it.”

“Bah… that settles it then,” said Ouyang Huihui defeatedly.

She did not have the courage to confront her grandfather who had never treated her kindly. She knew the result. Even if she asked, her grandfather would never tell her about it. He might even send her away after giving her a good scolding.

Someone came calling then, telling them that Ouyang Lingyun had summoned the two sisters to his room. Ouyang Feifei hurried off quickly while Ouyang Huihui remained behind for a bit to think about something, but she soon followed suit.

Ouyang Lingying was deep in thought as he drank his tea in his study. When the sisters came in, he simply raised his hands and gestured for the two to sit on the sofa.

“Feifei, your grandfather did not expect things to turn out this way,” he said, laughing bitterly. “Who could have guessed that he would come to Yenchin to call off the engagement. Ahhh… Grandfather is surprised and disappointed.”

Ouyang Feifei spoke as if nothing was out of the ordinary, “Grandfather, since he has called off the engagement, we should not dwell on it anymore.”

Ouyang Lingyun finally turned to look at her. He said nothing and after a long silence, he sighed.

Seeing her grandfather’s despondent behaviour, Ouyang Huihui could no longer stay quiet and finally spoke up, “Grandfather, that bastard and Sister were never suited to each other in the first place. I can’t understand why you’re still fixating on the matter when Sister herself is fine about the engagement being called off.”

“Get out,” barked Ouyang Lingyun.

He was already annoyed to begin with, and Ouyang Huihui had done enough to make him feel that way. Now, upon hearing her saying something so demeaning about Luo Ziling, everything he was holding back burst forth.

“Go back to your room and reflect on what you just said. Tomorrow, I’ll have you stay on campus and live like an average citizen. You are not allowed to drive the sports car. You are not allowed to let anyone know that you are part of the Ouyang house!”

Ouyang Huihui was stunned. She pouted disgruntledly but chose not to say anything. Unsatisfied, she turned around and returned to her own room. Throughout it all, Ouyang Feifei’s expression stayed the same, as if her sister’s scolding never happened.

“Feifei, you should understand how I feel. If the engagement had proceeded as intended, the Ouyang name might have even been elevated. We would no longer need to be afraid of any other houses. Furthermore, I understand that you do not hate him,” said Ouyang Lingyun.

He looked into his elder granddaughter’s eyes. “Remember that you still need the Luos to treat you. If you were to marry Luo Ziling, we wouldn’t need to worry about your illness. Bah… such a waste.”

“Grandfather, it has been years since I’ve shown any symptoms. I think we shouldn’t be worried about it any longer,” replied Ouyang Feifei.

Her expression remained unchanged. She ignored what her grandfather said about Luo Ziling and the benefits of marrying him.

“I have been to the best hospital in Yenching for diagnosis and even they couldn’t find anything wrong with me. It is safe to say that I am cured.”

Ouyang Lingyun shook his head.

“According to Old Luo, your illness has not yet been removed to its core. You were still young back then, the treatment could not follow through completely. You have been taking his medication for years, that is why you have not shown any symptoms.

“He said that the next two years would be the best period to get rid of the illness for good. It’ll be too late if we wait any longer. Luo Ziling has been thoroughly taught in medical knowledge. Old Luo was preparing his grandson to treat you completely.”

“It doesn’t matter, does it? He can still treat my illness whether or not we are married.” Ouyang Feifei chuckled quietly. “In the end, he is a physician. I can just pay him like I would any other doctor.”

Ouyang Lingyun agreed, “That would be the only option left.

“I will invite him back here the day after tomorrow. He can see to your illness at the same time. Old Luo has entrusted a few secret brews to him. Let’s just hope that Luo Ziling will help us.”

“We have everything to offer. The question is whether or not he will help us.”

Ouyang Feifei had a plan. The corner of her lips arched a little, visible but barely.

She was delighted…
