Chapter 54 - The Li Family
After returning from the An family's house, the Li family of three entered their small apartment room that was located at the very far outskirts of the country, near the rural area.
It took a five hour drive just for them to get to City A, and now they were back. However, they would be leaving soon.
"Yes!" Li Qiyu exclaimed happily as he entered the small room, sitting down onto the dirty couch with a loud plop.
He Muya also sat down next to her husband and their daughter, Li Yilan, immediately disappeared into her room, shutting the door swiftly behind her.
Her parents glanced at her before turning their attention back to the check, "We should go tomorrow once the bank opens to get the money out," Li Qiyu said as he licked his lips with a grim smile.
"Yes, yes. Then, we can move out of this tiny place. . . And, Yilan will be able to go to college as well."
Li Qiyu rolled his eyes and slapped his palm onto his leg, "See, I told you! We should have come earlier. She has a ton of money."
He Muya narrowed her eyes slightly before finally nodding her head in agreement.
She then stood up and walked over to the room Li Yilan had entered, knocking on the door, "Yilan, are you going there again today?"
A soft reply came from inside, "Yeah."
"Okay, I'll make you some food before you go."
He Muya walked over to the kitchen and began to cook as Li Qiyu continued to sit on the couch with his legs crossed, staring at the check in his hands with his eyes sparkling.
He leaned forward and grabbed a bottle of bear from the table, opening it and taking a large gulp without removing his eyes from the check.
Inside the room, Li Yilan sat down on a wobbly chair and looked into the mirror at her reflection. She narrowed her eyes slightly and tilted her head, running her long nails down one side of her cheek.
She stared at herself silently for a very long time before she finally looked away, shaking her head slightly almost as if she was just in a trance.
Then, she grabbed a cotton pad on the desk and dumped some transparent liquid onto it. Then, she swiped it across her face aggressively very thoroughly, changing the white cotton wipe to a blend of black, red, and yellow.
With all the makeup removed, she tied her hair up and looked at her reflection again, immediately scrunching her face up.
Without makeup, she was still decent looking, much better than average, especially here in the rural part of the country.
She had always been the prettiest girl in her class and in school growing up, even without makeup on. However, after entering the city and seeing An Luxia, she knew that she might only be a little better than average in the city.
Good thing she had makeup. Li Yilan shook her head and picked up a brush that was laying around on the table. She swung it around in her hand before picking up the bottle of foundation nearby.
Then, she put on her makeup once again, this time with more bold colors.
First a thick layer of foundation, and then her eyebrows, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and then a generous application of bright red lipstick.
After everything was finished, she put her long, wavy hair down again and looked at herself in the mirror with a proud and confident smile.
Perfect!
She stood up, dancing around the room on her toes before grabbing a random bottle of perfume and spraying it all around her.
Then, she opened a small wooden cabinet that made a creaking sound when pulled open. Inside, there were piles of clothes and shoes laying around.
She tilted her head slightly in thought, throwing around the dresses as she dug the enormous pile. These were her armor on the battlefield! She had to pick a good one.
In the end, she found a red silk dress with a very low V-shaped neckline. After changing it on, she stared at herself in the full-length mirror for another minute, admiring her beautiful body shape that took a lot of work to maintain.
Li Yilan grinned slightly as she thought that An Luxia did not have as great of a body as she did! No one could resist a sexy and attractive body like hers.
She turned around, kicking one leg up happily as she returned to the cabinet and pulled out a pair of red heels to match the dress.
Her pale white skin seemed to glow more underneath the red dress as she twirled around happily once more before leaving her room.
Once she left, He Muya ran over with a plate of dumplings, "Eat some before you leave. You will need energy."
Li Yilan's face immediately fell after hearing her mother as she stared at the plate of dumplings and turned around, walking away, "I'm on a diet."
He Muya looked at the dumplings and then shrugged, "Okay! Bye! Have fun!"
Li Yilan's lips twitched angrily at the thought of where she was going as she walked out. On the couch, Li Qiyu sat with two empty bottles of beer rolling around on the ground. He still grasped onto the check tightly as he leaned back against the couch, his face unusually red.
When he saw his daughter, he stared at her for several long seconds, his eyes following her to the door with a sinister smile.
Only until Li Yilan had left did he finally look back at his own wife, "What?!"
He Muya was used to her husband's behavior by now and she sat down next to him, "How long is Yilan going to keep doing this?"
Li Qiyu shrugged, "Forever! It makes great money. Don't act like you don't like it too."
He Muya gulped embarrassedly before standing up and walking away. Of course she liked it too! Who didn't like the money?
