Chapter 44 [Bonus ]School Sweethearts
"That cream... can make you younger." the lady spoke in an excited and lovestruck voice, "Well, not actually younger, but rather, it makes you appear younger."
"What?!" Ria widened her eyes in astonishment and turned back to the plain-looking stall, now the crowd in front of the stall and the madness of customers made much more sense to her.
"Indeed, it's a really miraculous and magical product. I am very lucky to have got this one!" the lady smiled brightly and after some more polite small talk, she turned around to leave. Leaving Ria alone with her thoughts again.
Ria peeked through the gaps again and found another worker in the stall about 13 years of age and a cute face, roaming around and sometimes picking up boxes for Chris that were under the table.
'Wait... that guy and cashier ... Christopher and Catherine?' Ria looking at the duo in the stall, suddenly recognised their looks to be similar to her ex-classmates.
'Nah, no way. It can't be them.' she shook her head to throw her pointless suspicion alas, the seed of doubt was already planted in her mind... and by the time she knew, she was walking towards the long line in front of Chris.
"Ria?! How can you leave me alone in that stupid line?!" Ria's boyfriend suddenly came and pulled Ria's arms, his seething eyes depicting his immense anger.
"Ron! See them?? That guy and girl look just like those twins! Christopher and Catherine!" Ria, however, ignored his anger and pointed ahead to the stall.
"Huh? Ah... the twins who dropped out due to family matters? There is no way this stall can be theirs, hah!" Ron scoffed, waving away the empty doubts and suspicion.
"My eyes can't be wrong! They are definitely those two! Let us see from closer! Who knows we might be able to get this costly cosmetic for a discount!" Ria, however, adamant about her findings, stood her ground until Ron had no choice but to join yet another queue due to his troublesome girlfriend.
A little earlier she had also learnt the price of this costly cream, it was freaking 500$ for a can! 500$?! That was her whole month's earnings!
Still, considering the effects of the cream, the price was more than fair.
Soon, Ria's turn came and she stood in front of the drop-dead charming man who stood with a professional smile on his face.
"Coupon?" he asked in his smooth and charming voice which was enough to charm even the best girls of this city!
"Are you... Christopher?" Ria asked in a soft voice with a light blush on her rosy cheeks. Ron let out a silent and annoyed grunt due to his girlfriend's actions.
"Yes?" Chris looked a little more closely at the girl who somehow knew his name... did they know each other...?
"Who are you... wait! The school sweethearts!?" he suddenly recognised the girl, or rather the couple. They both looked quite good together and wore upper-class branded clothes.
"Aw, don't call us that now!" Ria blushed and averted her eyes, just like Chris remembered what she used to do when she was teased about her boyfriend.
"Nice to meet you two here! Come in, don't block the line." Chris noticed the nasty glares of the ladies behind in line and quickly gestured for the two to enter the stall and smiled at the ladies, "Sorry for the delay, coupon?" that did the trick and the nasty glare easily turned into a soft fawning look.
"What a surprise to meet my ex-classmates here." Chris smiled at the couple while also attending to the customers.
"You call that a surprise? The surprise is this big stall you got!!!" Ria scoffed, her excitement and surprise clear in her voice.
"Haha, it just happened." Chris shrugged with a soft chuckle and turned back to attend to customers.
"Ria! Hey!" Cathy excitedly greeted her one of the school's best friends. The coupon roll in her hand finally ended, marking the end of today's sales.
"I deeply apologize but today's stock is finished," Cathy bowed apologetically but before the mad crew can go wild, she added, "However there will be more stocks for sale tomorrow!" that did the trick as although a little disappointed, the mad crew left without causing much trouble. Looking forward to buying the miraculous and weird named cream.
Cathy nodded to Chris and then stood up from her counter after so long, feeling her muscles sore from constant sitting and work.
Chris shrugged in response while the black-haired girl went to the couple to chat with. Cassie joined in too, though she had zero idea who these people were.
And after attending to the last batch of customers, Chris smiled brightly knowing full well that tomorrow's crowd will be much bigger since the mouth publicity will begin to show its magic.
Grinning ear to ear he placed all the cash he earned today in his pockets and stuffed them in before going towards his old friends and Cathy.
"So you have been together for 5 years?!" Cathy murmured in shock while Chris sat next to her, "5 years? That's a lot indeed." he nodded too.
"Hehe, we don't plan to stop it at just 5 years though." Ron chuckled in amusement and Ria nodded at his words, things were so well between them that why would they want to separate?
"I am happy for you two," Chris smiled, "It was really surprising and nice to meet our ex-classmates here."
"Yes! Do you want to be more surprised? Guess what, the rest are coming too!!!" Ria exclaimed in an excited tone, shaking Chris's body... though she failed miserably.
"Haha, by the time they come, let's look around. My one friend has placed a stall too I think," Chris chuckled at Ria who was trying to push him in excitement, gently removing her arms, he spoke and got up.
Following Chris, Cathy got up as well and her eyes wrinkled in disgust hearing that they might visit Chris's friend's stall.
It wasn't hard to guess that the friend was none other than Max.
"Ohh! Let's go!" Ria squealed in excitement, jumping up from the seat and tugging at Ron's arms. Cassie followed silently, not knowing what to say when all the rest of the people were nearly six years older than her.
And she didn't know them well either.
"By the way Chris, how did you come up with such a miraculous cream???" Ria asked suddenly, remembering why they were in the stall to begin with. Wasn't she just curious about the cream?
She just got lost reminiscing about the past that she forgot the main reason they were here for.
Hearing that question, Chris froze for a second before taking out an extra tin can he had in the stall, he threw it to Ria and said the same thing he did a week ago to his sisters, "It's the new product my business partner wants to launch for his new company."
"Ohh... is he in this city too?" Ria caught the can with imaginary stars in her eyes, while the nearby women who were visiting nearby stalls while stealing peeks at Chris's stall burst into envy.
"Nope, he lives in a higher city. Anyways let's leave before you get chewed down by the crazy crowd we got." Chris quickly changed the topic and left before Ria can ask more questions.
Sure he can choose not to answer them, but why do so when he can just change the topic and escape?
Chris quickly darted away under the fawning looks of the crowd, what a shame that he was a loyal type of person or he might have played with one or two ladies.
The rest group followed behind, heading to the premium ring... the ring where Max had set his stall, and Chris got to admit it, that bastard really chose a smart stall to open...
