Chapter 37 Remember Chloe?!
Cathy came striding towards Maximus with a scary smile on her face. Chris who wasn't even the target of her wrath, felt some chills course up his spine.
"What?" clueless, Maximus looked up at the looming Cathy in confusion.
But then suddenly, the unexpected happened! A crisp slap echoed in the chattering bar, shutting everyone's mouths simultaneously and pulling their attention to the source of such violence.
"That was for Chloe, Bastard!" Cathy harrumphed and returned to her seat, leaving the whole bar in shock while Max rubbed his reddened cheeks with a wronged and pained expression on his face.
"So he is Chloe's ex... " Chris closed his with open mouth & murmured in a daze, understanding the cause of Cathy's sudden outburst.
"WTF?! What did I do to you!" Maximus shouted in rage, still rubbing his cheeks in pain that had bright 5 fingers printed boldly upon them.
His beautiful creamy white skin was sullied by the tight slap and its harsh side effects.
"REMEMBER CHLOE?" Cathy shouted back in rage.
"No! Which Chloe?!" genuinely confused, Max hissed back.
"The one you promised to be with for the rest of your life and then ran away after impregnating her!! Do you have any idea how devastated she was?!" Cathy got up to teach Max another lesson.
But, luckily, Chris caught her arms and pushed her back onto her seat.
"What the hell?' I would never do such a thing!" disgusted by the charges placed on him, Max raged and banged the bar desk in anger. Although his anger earned him a deadly glare from the bartender.
"Chris, I didn't know you were friends with such a guy. "Cathy turned her disgust towards Chris who was just as much shocked as Max himself was.
"Call your friend, I wanna know the hell she is spouting lies about me!" Max shouted again, his anger at its peak.
"Call her so that she hears your damned voice and gets even more sad and angry than she already is?" Cathy scoffed, unwilling to listen to Max's demands.
"You talk to her! Call her!!" Max banged the desk again, making the bartender furiously warn him that this is his last warning, of course, Max ignored it.
"Hmph, you better get ready for more slaps then," Cathy shrugged & pulled out her new M-Phone 12+ that Chris had bought her today. She searched for 'Chloe' on her contacts with a smug look on her face.
"Put it on speaker," Max urged Cathy, impatient to see who the hell was defaming his already trashy reputation.
Chris nodded to Cathy as well, Max might be a playboy but he wasn't such type of scum that Cathy was blaming him to be.
"Hello, Chloe! It's me, Catherine! Guess who I just found!" Cathy greeted cheerfully to her bestie.
"Your prince in white you dream off?" Chloe giggled sweetly in response, her words making Cathy blush in the hue of red.
"WAIT! I had to tell you something too! You remember that bastard Max?!" Chloe suddenly asked in a maniacal fervor.
"Of course I do," Cathy smirked at Max whose face was contorted into immense confusion. That girl was talking about him but he doesn't even recognize her voice?
"Yes! He just suddenly came to my house today and proposed to marry me!!!" this was one of the rarest moments when Chris witnessed the teenage hooting girls, and... it wasn't pleasant in the slightest...
"YES! He deserves more beat- wait what?!" Cathy froze in shock, unable to comprehend the words she just heard from her friend.
"I know I should've beaten him up and denied but... he said he had run away because he was scared, he is now ready to accept his mistake and fix it... I-I... agreed to his proposal..." Chloe's mood suddenly swung from cheerful to creepily depressed... an ability of girls that Chris can never get used to.
"Wait...what's his name?" Cathy asked nervously with a few drops of sweat forming on her forehead, her smug act slowly falling apart.
"Huh? You already know, Maximus Fleming. Oh! And your whole family is invited to the marriage!!!" Chloe's mood switch flipped again, inviting Cath to her marriage excitedly.
"S-Sure, I need to go...talk to you later!" under the heated and nasty glare from Max, Cathy quickly ended the call and shakily looked at Max, blushing red in embarrassment.
"You!" Max hissed in rage, he would have flipped out even more if there wasn't Chris's strong grip holding him down affixed on his bar chair.
"Calm down, Max. I apologize in her stead, it was a misunderstanding," Chris gently patted Max's shoulders with his other hand, trying to soothe his anger.
"FUCK! Be glad that it's my motto not to hit girls!" Max pushed away Chris's arm that was patting him, however, he didn't manage to move his other arm that held him down.
"I-I am sorry," swallowing her pride, Cathy shamefully bowed and apologized for her mistake.
"Tsk," Max clicked his tongue and harrumphed, "Even my own mother never beats me!"
"No wonder you are like this..." Cathy spat inaudibly.
"What? What did you say?" Max squinted his eyes dangerously and questioned.
"Calm down you two, it was a misunderstanding. Max, you can have her martini." Chris pushed the clear, chilled Cathy's martini that was beautifully garnished with olives towards Max as a peace treaty
"Hell yeah!." Maximus exclaimed and grinned victoriously at Cathy who was practically seething with anger. He banged the table in celebration as he moved to take his victory trophy in his hands.
"That's it! You three out!" the bartender who was getting tired of their repeated commotions, forced the group of three out! Max didn't even manage to finish his hard-earned martini!
"Bastard, you dare throw me out?! I will show you what I can do!" Maximus shouted in rage and after saying the last line, he quickly smirked at Cathy who was similarly as much pissed as Max was, after all, she was looking forward to drinking yet didn't get a single sip.
Cathy gave an amused look to Max who just wanted an outlet to let out his anger. Looks like the luck was on his side and he found his target which was a poor bartender who was just doing his job of running the bar.
Max scoffed and pulled out his phone which was also an M-Phone 14+ like Chris, this peculiarity easily drew Chris's interest since he knew that importing such a rare piece was by no means an easy task.
'Mayor's son, huh?' Chris squinted his eyebrows at Max who was arrogantly calling a number on his phone with a grin plastered on his face.
