Chapter 34 Back To The Mall
Rather childish, however, Chris wanted to have his own car now. 'But, I will be shifting to a better city soon, what's the point of buying a car here?'
Everyone knows that a Lambarghini from an E-Grade city can't even compare with a foxwagon of a C-Grade city.
(It's a figure of speech, I am not actually comparing the two cars.)
'Aha! I can rent a car for a week or two!' Chris suddenly thought, nodding with confidence at his decision.
'Where to rent it from though?' now facing his next dilemma, Chris scratched his chin in thought. Either he could use some renting apps or sites, or he can rent from a friend.
Chris was leaning towards the second option, simply because renting from a friend will be easier and faster, and probably cheaper aswell.
He remembered that Gerald - his real-estate broker- had bought a new marcedes. Chris had noticed it because the car was pretty cool and also, Gerald doesn't use it a lot either.
"I will arrange the car, wait," Chris nodded to Cathy and got up from the sofa, proceeding to call Gerald.
*ring* *ring* *cluck*
"Good afternoon, Mr. Gerald," Chris greeted politely, his leveled tone still containing a little amount of confidence and superiority that he only showed in front of those he didn't consider as 'close'.
"Ah, Good afternoon young master Christopher," Gerald greeted back politely, "How do I owe such a pleasure of a call from you?"
"Nothing much, I once saw your Marcedes parked in the basement. I wanted to rent it for a week or two, you can set the pricing," Chris skipped over the pointless small talk and got to the point.
"Ohh... Well, it will be an honor for me to have my humble car be at your service," Gerald at first wasn't too pleased by the offer at first, but, then he realized. Rather than his car eating dust in the parking, it can earn him some favors and freebies instead!
"I am glad. What's the cost?" Chris smiled.
"Haha, you don't need to bother with that menial stuff. rather than rotting in parking, its better to be of use to you."
"I would feel bad if I take it for free. Ah, I got it. I will send you a special gift hamper instead." Chris suddenly remembered his charm pill business idea and promised to Gerald.
"You have successfully piqued my curiosity. And, my driver is free today aswell, would you like me to send him?"
"No-" "Yes. Please do."
Chris who wanted to deny, was suddenly interrupted by Cathy, who glared at him and agreed to Gerald's polite offer.
She still vividly remembered his wild bike driving that nearly got them killed in an accident, there was no way she would let him drive the car.
"Of course," Gerald quickly ended the call after sensing the upcoming siblings' quarrel, and he surely didn't want to take part in it.
"Why can't I drive?" Chris turned to Cathy and glared, why was she eavesdropping on his conversation anyways?!
"Because you don't know how to drive!" Cathy glared back and continued, "You drive like a kid who just got his hands on a bike and just wanna drive fast and look cool!"
"Isn't that true?" Chris's mood suddenly took a melancholic turn, and he asked back.
"..." Cathy understood his words and the feelings he hid behind them. Unlike her who still relished in some fun and parties, Chris never used to waste time and he used to work hard every day.
Only on Sundays, he used to hang out a little, that too in moderation. He had thoroughly buried all his childhood fantasies and dreams just for the family.
Only now after gaining the magical system and its boons, did he begin to show his other personalities and likes.
"Let's go to shopping," Cathy knew many words she can say to calm him down, but, she also knew those words might cause his submerged feelings to erupt like a volcano. Thus, she chose to change the topic instead.
"Yes. I arranged the car. And the driver," Chris added with a last glare and went back to sit with Cathy who was currently playing against the computer.
"Teehee," Cathy giggled and went into her bedroom to select a nicer dress for the outing, not like she had many choices, to begin with anyways.
...
"W-Wow, you sure arranged a nice car just for shopping..." Cathy murmured in a daze, looking at a long classy black sedan that had the iconic, three-pieced-pie-like Marcedes logo.
"It's not just for shopping, it's ours for a few weeks," Chris smiled and placed his hand over her shoulder, flexing off his newly earned wealth.
"Really?!" Cassie shouted and ran into the open car door that the old chauffeur had opened for the Swarts Family.
He was dressed in a black long coat and gave the loyal butler vibes. If Chris had to guess, he was the personal chauffeur of Gerald, Chris wondered why Gerald would send his personal chauffeur for Chris.
"You sit back, I will sit in front," loyal chauffeur or not, Chris proudly admitted himself to be a protective brother. He sat on the front seat while making Cathy sit beside Cassie on the rear one.
"Sir, where to?" the chauffeur asked politely while firing up the engine.
"Hm, Glorr Mall," Chris didn't just select the Glorr Mall due to Aria, trust me...
...
Soon the black slick sedan stopped in front of the wide big familiar building, The Glorr Mall. Chris smiled seeing the Mall for the second time today.
This mall was the place he first found Aria, and also shed away his poor and pathetic side, he had built quite a few memories here.
"I will call you when we need to leave," Chris said with a polite nod to the chauffeur whose name he still didn't know of, not that it mattered to him anyways.
Cassie excitedly looked at the big building since she was too young when they visited earlier. While Cathy had a similar nostalgic smile to the one Chris had when he first visited the Glorr Mall.
...
It turned out that the girls like to shop, no matter what, the sisters dragged Chris all around the whole mall, not even giving him a few moments alone with Aria.
Aria wanted to escape from the store herself and come over to Chris and his group, but, her irritating boss didn't allow her a single break.
Finally, after an arduous and tiring 4 hours, spending thousands of dollars. Chris was finally let off the hook.
He threw himself on the plush sofa of a famous restaurant chain and requested Cathy and Cassie to order his share aswell.
He had bought them many things like dresses, a new phone, a laptop, accessories, and footwear, and Cassie even tried out some games in the arcade.
Chris was way too exhausted and didn't want to shop anymore for whole his life! On the contrary, Cathy and Cassie were in their brightest and best mood...
Relaxing on the sofa, Chris suddenly heard a familiar name being called from a distance and saw a group of teenagers walk over to their table.
They were about the age of Cassie and were calling Cassie's name aswell. Chris figured they were her friends but, Cassie's facial expressions said otherwise.
"Friends?" Chris asked to Cassie, looking at the 4 girls and 2 boys that just walked over to their table...
