The Villain's Little Cat

Chapter 281 - 281 Strange Phenomenon

281 Strange Phenomenon

“What kind of problems did your younger brother actually experience with his ability?” Kyle asked the crucial problem first.

He also knew about the rules and regulation for awakened people who couldn’t control their abilities. It was harsh, but for the sake of other people who were also alive, they had to make sure that these awakened didn’t hurt others.

That was why these awakened who failed to control their abilities will be executed.

If their family was rich and influential enough, they could also request to lock the awakened in question until the solution was found. That way, they didn’t need to be executed and could still stay alive.

“Wait, what’s your brother elements first?” Jake had completely forgotten everything about Lucas at this point.

The only time they met with Lucas was when they were in that university to fetch Dylan’s cousin. After that, they didn’t bother with those others who were not part of their group, so they didn’t really know what had happened to those people.

“Lucas is of earth ability,” Lucy quickly explained. “He said that ever since he broke through to rank 4, he started to experience a strange phenomenon.”

“What kind of strange phenomenon?”

“That… his ability seemed to be unable to control the earth well. From time to time, he felt as if there’s some missing earth from what he controlled.” Lucy also felt that her brother’s explanation was strange.

.....

But she herself was not of earth element and didn’t know much about the problems of these people who could control these elements. Her awakened ability was of enhancement and Lucy only needed to make sure that her body was trained enough every single day.

By beating the hell out of those giant mutated animals, she could advance relatively quickly.

Thus, Lucy didn’t seem to be that worried about many other matters.

But she was still worried for her younger brother and wished that he would be doing well. She didn’t want him to fail to control his element well and ended up hurting himself or others.

Once that happened, it would be impossible for him to live peacefully in City E anymore.

He had to either find a secluded place or to make sure that he would never use his ability anymore one way or another.

It would be difficult.

“Missing?” Jake was confused. He turned to look at Marc. “You’re of earth element, so you might be more helpful in this matter.”

Dylan listened to Lucy’s description and furrowed his eyebrows.

This was not helpful at all.

“How about if we see Lucas and watch him use his ability?” Kyle proposed. That way, they would be able to figure out more about if there was anything wrong with Lucas’s ability or anything like that.

“That might be for the best.” Lucy nodded and then pointed to the dilapidated building not far from them. “I bought the land with the reward I received and Lucas built that house. But the building seemed to be a bit… strange.”

They all turned to look at the dilapidated building behind Lucy, trying to comprehend the reason why she said that it was strange.

And they think…

It was indeed a bit strange.

For a building that was built with earth element, they should be able to shape it in accordance to the way they wanted it without the care of anything else. If they needed stronger foundation or support, they could ask for those of metal elements for help.

And this building looked to be missing some parts here and there.

Yet, it was still standing firmly without missing anything.

Kyle looked at the building in front of him and his eyes gleamed a bit. He turned to look at Kate in his arms.

<Do you notice it, Kate?>

“Meow~.” Kate nodded while meowing. She could also notice what Kyle noticed. With their ability shared, even if she could only use one rank lower than Kyle, she still could notice what Kyle noticed.

It was also because of this that she understood why Lucas was worried.

“Shall we go in?” Lucy asked embarrassingly.

“How about if we wait outside?” Jake looked at the building and somehow feared that it would fall down when he was inside. From the sight of it, the building seemed as if it was going to fall anytime soon.

Jake was definitely not going to risk his life by entering the building.

“I’ll call him outside.” Lucy rushed inside and pulled her brother out.

Lucas still looked similar as he used to be before. If anything, he might look a bit worried and anxious, but he still tried his best to stay calm.

With Lucy’s strength, she easily dragged her younger brother out.

“So, show us your ability.” Jake looked at Lucas curiously.

Lucas hesitated for a moment and then raised his hand, the earth in front of him formed a wall. Yet the wall seemed to be missing some chips and pieces and didn’t look completely solid like how it was supposed to be.

It looked strange.

“See, it’s strange.” Lucas looked at his sister helplessly. If not because his sister was standing there, ready to beat the hell out of him, he would not want to show his ability to outsiders.

People will definitely look at him with strange look.

He didn’t want to show it because he was afraid that they would think his ability was defective and that he wouldn’t be able to find any work in the future.

This wall was already the best proof.

The world was changing. Even with so many giant mutated animals outside, they still tried to live a normal life. And for them, those who were awakened were of the highest priority and will definitely be placed at the highest rank.

But at the same time, it meant that those without any awakening ability would have relatively lower payment compared to the awakened.

And for those who couldn’t control their abilities well…

Would they be shunned?

Lucas didn’t know.

He was just worried and wanted to fix his ability. However, he felt that it was so hard as he didn’t know what he should do.
