Chapter 134
134 Making their Way Out
“I said that it’s hard, but it didn’t mean that it’s impossible. As long as we can place these bombs or throw them towards these giant mutated ants, they will explode the moment impact is made.” Kyle glanced at Jake.
Dylan thought for a moment and then nodded. “Radius?”
“The bombs are not that powerful yet, however it contained the power of elements. Since we can only throw them out, we might need to place a shield that will block us from the impact.” Kyle thought to himself.
He didn’t know the radius of the bomb very clearly because it was a bit different for every elements.
“Let’s test it out?” Jake asked. He could make a metal shield for them.
“There are a lot of giant mutated ants above for us to test.” Kyle shrugged. Even when he was carrying the box filled with bomb, he carried the sleeping cat in his other hand.
The others looked at each other and nodded.
“In that case, let’s make our way to the sixth floor.” Lotte looked at the bomb with anticipation. Even though she was afraid, she had to admit that she was also curious about the power of the bombs in Kyle’s hand.
These were made before they knew that there will be red rain and the evolution or mutation also happened to humans. The power might be based on what the researchers could do back then.
.....
“So there are also gems back then?” Jake wanted to know another question.
“Yes. There are some gems that have been found from the source.” Kyle’s eyes turned cold. “What was left inside this research facility is just a small portion that was handed out to our nation.”
Jake was stunned.
Wait, it meant that other nations also knew about this mutation and might have made earlier preparation? But there was no news whatsoever even out there.
“Let’s go.”
They walked back to the seventh floor and then headed to the blocked area. Jake began to open up the path and Kyle set the entire place in fire with his ability. Countless giant mutated ants were killed instantly.
As they walked inside, they could see the devastation that occurred in this area. Below the ashes of the giant mutated ants because of Kyle was the pile of bodies from people who didn’t manage to escape and other giant mutated ants.
It was a sad sight.
“The door is over here.”
“Lotte.”
“A lot of giant mutated ants are there.” Lotte pursed her lips. “There might be more than the giant mutated ants in this half floor.”
“Oh.” Kyle let out a soft sound and then looked up. His eyes glowed with red color before fire began to spread up there. This was the ability he found out when he reached rank 5. He could control the element ability even if there was something that block him as long as he imagined it.
Terrifying shriek began to sound in the sixth floor.
“Meow?”
Kate blearily opened her eyes and looked around. Seeing the ruins, she was stunned a bit and then she saw the wall that was battered. It was then she realized that they were in the other half of the seventh floor.
There were countless giant mutated ants here before but now they had all turned into ashes.
“You’re awake, huh?” Kyle glanced at Kate and smiled lightly. “We’re going to test the power of these bombs against the giant mutated ants. It might be a bit noisy later, but Lotte will make air shield around us.”
“Meow?”
Kate was a bit confused, but she first focused to gather all the crystals that were laying around. She then took some of them out inside the pocket of them all so that they could use it if it was necessary.
“Tsk, tsk, putting items in a woman’s pocket. If you were a male cat, I’ll suspect you’re a pervert,” Lotte said jokingly.
“Meow!”
Kate hissed at Lotte and then focused on the scene above her. Her whiskers twitched when she saw countless giant mutated ants were dying one by one above them.
It was truly a sight.
“Alright, open the door. It’s clean.” Lotte looked up and felt chills on her back. To think that Kyle would be this strong when he reached rank 5. What would happen to them when they all reach rank 5?
She somehow anticipated it.
“Got it.”
Jake pushed the door open and pulled the stairs so that they could climb up. Even when the place was devastated like this, the stairs was still relatively intact.
After they reached up, they noticed that countless giant mutated ants were going in their direction from a hole on the ceiling. It seemed that the fourth, fifth, and sixth floor were all interconnected.
“No wonder no one managed to get out...” Jake shivered. If they had to face uncountable number of giant mutated ants, even Jake had low confidence that he would be able to get out safely.
Kyle narrowed his eyes and glanced at Dylan.
Dylan understood and condensed water, which directly slashed towards these giant mutated ants coming towards them. Kate then collected their crystals into her space with a thought.
“Jake, place some of the metal bombs right below the hole.”
“Huh?”
“We want to try, right?”
‘Yes, but why me?’ That was what Jake wanted to say, but he eventually gave up and rushed towards the hole before these giant mutated ants climbed down again. At this time, Dylan had already formed a water barrier with more and more giant mutated ants tried to come in but blocked.
Their weight was quite considerable.
Jake put three of the metal bombs from the box and then rushed back again. He didn’t want to stay there to experience the power of these bombs that the researchers had made.
Once he returned, he set up a wall of metal in front of them.
“Release them,” Kyle instructed.
Swish
BOOM!
The large sound of explosion could be heard and these giant mutated ants were blown into pieces. Countless metal scraps were thrown out from the center of the blasts as if they condensed in the air and then pierced everywhere.
The wall in front of them was also subject of such treatment.
Jake’s lips twitched. “Which part of this is small impact? I’m pretty sure that if this is used in war, it will cause a lot of people agony. The power of these bombs are sick!”
The hole between the fifth and sixth floor was getting bigger while the floor between sixth and seventh floor was barely hanging. As someone of metal element, Jake could sense it very clearly.
This was why he felt that these bombs were indeed dangerous.
Kyle stepped forward and took the pieces of metal at the side. In the next moment, it disintegrated into ashes.
“In front of rank 5, these bombs have no use.” Kyle looked at Jake. “Also, there are too many giant mutated ants on the fifth floor. We might need to exhaust all of our abilities before dealing with them.”
“Well, it might take a few more days for us to do it.” Jake sighed. He didn’t really want to stay here any longer because of the threat from these giant mutated ants, but he felt that there was truly no other choice.
“Meow.”
Kate was not entirely sure what they were worrying about. With so many bombs inside there , she was sure that it was enough to kill giant mutated ants countless times.
Lotte was stunned and directly translated Kate’s words to the others. In fact, she was also curious about this matter.
“Is it possible? I thought that the power of elements can’t be used to be near the bombs at all.” Jake was stunned.
Kyle looked at Kate.
The boxes itself was using space element to contain these energies inside this specially made capsule. In theory, those of space element should be able to transport them. After all, there was no bomb of space element yet.
When they made these, the space element energy couldn’t be contained to make explosion. Instead, they could be used to contain the explosion instead.
“Let’s try one.”
“Meow.”
Kyle took out one of the capsule carefully and made sure that he was not using his elemental power at all when he hold it. Kate focused on the capsule and it entered her space. After that, she looked above and imagined it appeared right beside the entrance of that hole.
BOOM!
The sound of explosion could be heard along with countless giant mutated ants dropped to their death right to the gaping hole there.
