The Villain's Little Cat

Chapter 111

111 End of the Mission

At this moment, the sentence that you didn’t have to run the fastest, but you should run faster than your teammates were proven to be the truest.

Just in two hours after the night fall, they heard the painful scream from behind them.

Someone was caught in the horde of giant mutated animals and couldn’t escaped. With so many giant mutated animals surrounding, he finally fell and couldn’t continue running.

The others couldn’t help.

Even if they wanted to, all they could think right now was to run.

As fast as possible.

Using motorcycles, bicycles, or whatever transportation they could find, they tried to be faster and faster.

No need to be faster.

As long as they were faster than the other group, it was enough.

.....

The screams continued.

Kyle and the others were at the very forefront because they escaped fast enough when they saw these giant mutated animals coming. Behind them was Petra’s group who were also using motorcycles and tried their best to rush in the middle of the night.

And behind these two groups were the other two groups who kept on losing their members one by one because those people were the lowest. The giant mutated animals practically didn’t see the people and only know how to attack the nearest one to them.

Whoever slowest will be caught.

And the distance that was previously covered after a long time because they were being careful were now just being ran over. They didn’t want to be caught by this horde of giant mutated animals.

“Damn it! Does this horde of giant mutated animals didn’t know the word tired?” Jake was thoroughly annoyed when he found out that these giant mutated animals were still chasing after them.

“Don’t worry, as long as we reach the open road, we’ll be able to see the others.” Kyle looked at the front.

The question now is...

How long would it take for them to reach the open road?

On the first day, they spent an entire day walking while being cautious with each other. Because they had also cleaned up the giant mutated animals on their way, this made their journey slower. On the second day, they also walked while cleaning up the giant mutated animals.

This is the third day and each and every one of them were using some kind of transportation to hasten their speed.

Would it be possible for them to reach the main road so quickly?

“Another road,” Dylan suddenly remarked.

“There’s another open road that’s different from the one the military dropped us before?” Jake asked, his eyes shone.

Dylan nodded.

He was more familiar with the road over here because his sister had dragged him over for some field trip in the past. This area was a bit circular and there was indeed another road that was located not far from them.

They just didn’t take this main road before because it would make the military had to take them to the destination further. Since they were mercenaries, the military didn’t want to waste so much gasoline just to make their job easier.

Let them do it themselves.

“Where is the road?” Kyle frowned. He didn’t like to walk around that much.

“There.” Dylan pointed at one direction.

“Got it. Let’s go there.”

Kyle and the others went slightly sideways, but they were still at the forefront among these people who were running from giant mutated animals. Behind them, the Petra Group faintly noticed that Kyle and the others were not directly heading to their way in.

They frowned.

“Boss, should we follow them or just follow the same road we used to take here?” one of the men asked.

They were all tired after having to run for hours. Normally, people wouldn’t be able to run for hours without conserving their strength. Even though they were technically driving, it also required concentration if they didn’t want to crash against these trees.

Not to mention, the horde of giant mutated animals was still chasing after them not far behind them.

“Follow them.” Petra gritted his teeth.

The fact that the main road where the military dropped them was too far away for them to reach within short few hours was something that he himself also knew. If there were other areas they could reach, why not head there.

Thus, the decision was made.

Brrmm!

The motorcycles were heading into the direction of the road that Dylan pointed at.

They continued on their way as some screams could be heard from time to time from behind them. It was unknown how many members from the other groups had been sacrificed in the hand of these giant mutated animals. And as they ran, they kept on encountering more giant mutated animals on their way.

There were simply too many giant mutated animals for them to deal with.

“Just how long is the road?” Jake finally asked after they had deviated for around an hour.

Dylan was not entirely sure. “Another hour.”

“Fine, I can still drive for another hour!”

“Meow.”

“Whoa!” Jake nearly drove himself to a tree and yelled lightly, but he quickly recovered. The road here was bumpy, so it was not easy for him to drive the motorcycles without having full concentration.

After another two hours of mad dash, they finally saw the main road.

“Little Kitty, sport car!” Kyle yelled.

“Meow.”

Dylan’s mall had a lot of collection of cars because there was also a car store under him. The fastest one was definitely the sport car, so Kyle chose that one directly. Anyway, the road was rather smooth.

They stopped and Kate retrieved the motorcycles before they entered the car.

“Dylan, you drive.”

“Good.”

Kyle sat in the passenger seat while Jake seat at the backseat. They looked at the empty road and the noise that was made by these giant mutated animals behind them. Their heart felt a bit cold.

Was there no military around?

There was no time for them to care about that as they continued to drive. Even though it was technically the apocalypse, the electricity was still running, so these streets still had some occasional lights from the unbroken street lamp.

“Boss, the road!” The people who followed Petra were pleasantly surprised to find the main road.

“Change to the car.” Petra gritted his teeth as he watched the disappearing light of Kyle and his group. Thinking about his car’s collection in the past, he felt as if salt was rubbed to his wound. Watching Kyle conveniently take items out without the need to worry made him extremely annoyed.

“Yes, Boss!”

Lotus stretched her body slightly because she was so tired. Looking in Kyle’s direction, she knew that the little cat beside Kyle had a space ability, so this was what made it possible for him to walk around confidently. It was just that Lotus didn’t remember the cat’s space being so big that Kyle could afford leaving supplies and took a car inside.

Well, it was not her business.

Petra’s men also had space ability awakened. However, the space was not large and there was only one car provided. They got into the car, squeezing in with each other and the rest had to take the motorcycles before they departed.

The last two groups, Rodent Group and Sunshine Group were also running behind them. Their groups which had the most members at first had now fallen to a pitiful low number.

But when they saw the main road, it renewed their hope as they used whatever strength they had to blast these giant mutated animals and then take out any kind of transportation they had to quickly leave.

For the next hour, their speed hastened slightly, so the scream was far less.

And then they saw the military that they had been waiting for.

“Who’s there?”

“We’re mercenary under the name of Black Group,” Jake yelled. “The credentials, Kyle, where is it?”

“It’s here.” Kyle was calmer and took out the credentials that they had.

The soldier checked and nodded.

“Why are you here?”

“There’s a horde of giant mutated animals behind us.” Jake pointed at the back. At this time, the three of them were technically resting because they knew that the soldiers will help them.

“Go within the formation.”

“Yes!”

Soon, Petra Group also arrived and they were treated the same. And when Rodent Group and Sunshine Group arrived, the soldiers finally saw the horde of giant mutated animals that were chasing behind them.

“Prepare to open fire!” The commander yelled.

“Yes!”

Jake’s expression was serious. Most of these giant mutated animals were insects, so it wouldn’t be easy to hit them with guns. “How are the soldiers supposed to deal with them if their number are too many?”

“I don’t know, but it’s unlikely we’ll be able to run again.” Kyle was already quite tired of driving too. It was not impossible, but it would be better for them to settle these giant mutated animals lest they headed to the city and then killed countless people.
