Chapter 98 – The Villain and the Male Lead are about to meet (1)

Lin Yiyi hung up the phone angrily and finally decided against letting her two kids know about their father’s proposal.

Whatever. If Meng Yan truly missed his kids, he’d come over sooner or later.

If it was just a spur of the moment thing, then it was better off that she just turned him down now. Better than breaking the kids’ hearts later on!

Whether it was Meng Yuran or Meng Shanshan, neither one of them ever mentioned missing their father after he had been away from them for so long. That ought to tell you what kind of a failure he was as a father….

If it was up to her, they were probably better off not meeting up with him at all!

As the saying goes, everything looks good from a distance. It was exactly because they have been apart that Meng Yan suddenly remembered his two children. If he truly had them by his side, he just might turn back to the person that he was. She didn’t want to get the two children’s hopes up high for no reasons.

Right after she had put the thought out of her mind, Ms. Lin Ping announced that she was going back to the US.

The news came quite abruptly. It was just like how this lady had rushed back home without any forewarnings and caught everybody off guard.

Hearing that piece of news, the last piece of pig feet that Mr. Gu Chengyi had just picked up with his chopsticks fell onto the dinner table. “You are going back to the US? I didn’t know that.”

Whatever happened to for better or for worse, in sickness and in health?

Meng Yuran quickly picked up the piece of pig feet that had fallen onto the table. The young man even went as far as giving his grandpa a disapproving look. “Don’t be wasteful.”

Ms. Lin Ping cast a glance at Mr. Gu and said, “I am not going back to the US. We are going back to the US.”

The two of them had already been back for two months.

She returned to talk some sense into her daughter who might still have unnecessary feelings for that Meng guy. She hadn’t expected that her daughter had spontaneously “got onto the right path” by the time she had returned.

Ms. Lin Ping was never able to give any of the speeches that she had prepared and rehearsed, so she, in turn, released all her pent-up anger on shopping.

She also hadn’t expected that days here were so cozy that she had stayed for two months without even realizing it and almost didn’t want to go back.

Sure enough, without that Meng guy, even the air smelled sweeter~

“Jiashu would be unleashed without us being there. No! We must go back to check in on that kid.”

Okay, so Ms. Lin Ping has another child in addition to Lin Yiyi. She couldn’t just pay her other child no attention.

Every time when one parts with their family, there were always a lot of emotions involved.

“No need to miss us too much. We will just stay a month or two back there to give Lao Gu some time to take care of some company matters, then we will be back.”

And just like that, Ms. Lin wiped off everyone’s sadness in just one sentence.

She was surely an expert in that!

***

Before their departure, Mr. Gu asked all his buddies from the fishing club to have dinner together.

As much as these buddies had always said Mr. Gu needed to take them to dinner, now that Mr. Gu was taking them to dinner, each and every one of them felt a little bit of guilt.

People have feelings, even toward their pets after a while.

Old Mr. Gu might not have been back for long, but he had been going fishing every day with the exception of the few days that he went on the trip to Saudia Arabia. He was also very active in all the other club activities and got along very well with everyone.

And he was taking off so suddenly. ..

“Ahem. How come this is starting to feel like some sort of a memorial?”

One sentence from Mr. Gu Chengyi, and sadness was wiped off of everyone.

He cleared his throat and carried on obliviously, “You don’t need to miss me too much. I am only going away for a month or two to take care of some company matters. Then I will be back fishing with you guys.”

Him and Ms. Lin Ping saw eye to eye on that.

Even though he had spent more time in the US, going back to one’s root wasn’t just an empty saying. He only felt the sense of being home when he was back in China.

After fishing for two months, Mr. Gu had the urge to hand the company over to his son as soon as possible. That way he could retire and enjoy his golden years.

Thinking about being able to garden and fish every day made him very happy.

When everybody else was still looking at him longingly, Mr. Gu had a look of happiness and contentment just thinking about what his life would be like after retirement.

Seeing his happy look, nobody knew what else to say.
