Chapter 85 – All she could think of was the embarrassing moment when she mistook him as her blind date (1)
Before they left, Lin Yiyi prepared a lot of essentials for the outing and packed them all into the back of her stepdad’s Porsche SUV.
As opposed to how Gu Chengyi’s fishing trip normally went, the one that was just tagging along was bringing way more than the one that was actually going fishing.
Gu Chengyi looked at the two heaping boxes of stuff that Lin Yiyi had put into the back of his car along with a barbecue grill and charcoal….
Hey, hey, are we going to bring with us every single item from the kitchen? He couldn’t stay quiet any longer!
“We are going to fish. Why are you bringing all of this with us?”
Lin Yiyi only smiled and looked at him. Even Meng Yuran, who was helping her load the car, remained silent.
When they were finally ready to take off, Mr. Gu had waited so long he almost dozed off.
Mr. Gu, who had always packed lightly when he went fishing, suddenly had a bad feeling.
Meanwhile, Lin Yiyi, sitting in the backseat, whispered into Meng Shanshan’s ear, “Let’s not tell grandpa just yet, but mommy will make barbeque for Shanshan in a little bit, okay?”
Shanshan also whispered back at Lin Yiyi, “Big brother told me about it already. I only ate half of my normal amount during lunch.”
“You little smarty pants!”
Lin Yiyi stroked her on her head. When she looked back up, she happened to see Mr. Gu looking at the two of them in the backseat in his rearview mirror….
For some reason, the bad feeling was getting stronger and stronger!
— by Mr. Gu who felt a tingling sensation on the back of his neck.
Gu Chengyi’s business was focused mainly overseas.
He returned to his home country to start his business during his youth but later on relied on his connections overseas to really expand it. When he returned again recently, he still had all his connections from the past. From time to time, he’d get together with them for dinner, golf, or fishing.
When he returned with Ms. Lin Ping this time, he joined a fishing club with his buddies.
The club was quite well known in this city and held frequent fishing competitions.
Mr. Gu might be an older gentleman, but he was still very competitive. He had been going fishing with his buddies every day in preparation for the next competition.
Lake Dong, located slightly outside of City Nan and surrounded by mountains, was a naturally occurring reservoir where dozens of streams came to meet. It had always been very popular with fishing enthusiasts.
When Lin Yiyi and her group arrived, there were already quite a few people fishing next to the reservoir with some of them standing and some sitting down.
Mr. Gu had already pulled his car in between a few luxurious cars and parked. As soon as his car stopped, they heard a loud voice from not too far away, “Old Gu, you are late! You must treat us to lunch today!”
Gu Chengyi had already gotten out of the car and chuckled at the comment. He pointed at the man who said that and called him evil.
He opened up the backside of the car to pull out his fishing gears and saw the “luggage” that took up most of the space had squeezed against his fishing poles, almost turning them into telephone poles.
He wasn’t sure what he could say to her…
But he still asked Lin Yiyi in a very gentlemanly way, “Do you need me to help you carry anything?”
Truth be told, he didn’t want to unload any of these…
Lin Yiyi wasn’t shy at all. “Thanks, dad.”
Their entire family showing up together was quite a shocking scene.
As everybody else was there all by their lonesome selves…
Gu Chengyi walked over with Lin Yiyi and the rest and placed the two boxes and a few plastic bags on the ground before he introduced them to the old folk members of the club, “This is my daughter and these two are my grandson and granddaughter.”
“Yo, yo, yo. Your daughter is so pretty…”
“Yo, yo, yo. Your grandson and granddaughter are that old already?”
Everyone first gave them a bunch of praises before they turned their attention to all the miscellaneous stuff lying on the ground. The sight was a bit comical.
They looked more like they were here to barbecue than to fish.
His daughter, with her two kids, had already set up the barbeque grill!
Gu Chengyi blushed and said, “C’mon. Let’s go fish, go fish….
