Chapter 340 - Ungrateful!
The first thought that came into Rebecca's mind was that the old woman was biting Granny's face!
But after some time, she realized that the old woman was holding and feeding the dead rat into Granny's mouth.
The old woman detected her presence and looked at her, grinning. "A-are you hungry too? D-do you want to eat? I'll give the rest to you," she said and threw the mutilated rat into the stranger.
Dang! The old woman already lost her mind!
Rebecca managed to dodge the dead rat and scampered to the other side.
Shiit! She was going to vomit!
And vomit she did!
She vomited a few times.
Afterward, she looked at the old woman... who is this old woman?
She needs to get Granny out of this place and clean her bloody face!
She walked back to the women's side.
That was also the time when Granny's eyelids fluttered.
Menedelia's eyes opened wide, she stared at the face of her beloved Grandma, who's been missing for many years! Tears of happiness and gladness flooded her eyes. "Grandma, I finally found you!" She hugged her tightly.
Rebecca's brows furrowed for a moment, then it suddenly dawned on her that the dirty old woman was Granny's missing grandmother! A bright smile broke on her face. Looks like they finally found each other!
This is a happy event.
Menedelia noticed the presence of another person and met the eyes of Rebecca. "What are you doing here!?"
"Granny, you make us worried because you failed to return to the hut, so Angela and I came here to find you!" Rebecca explained.
"Where is Angela?" Menedelia asked worriedly.
"We split. She was looking for you in other areas of this forest," Rebecca answered.
"Quick! Go find her!" Menedelia ordered, worrying about the girl's safety.
"Okay," Rebecca said about to levitate in the air again. But before she can do that she saw Angela hovering in the air, lowering herself on the clearing.
Angela went to Rebecca's side and looked at the women on the ground, their faces covered in blood. "What happened to them?" she asked, shocked.
Rebecca smiled. "After a long time, Granny finally found her missing grandmother!" she shrieked in delight.
"Wow! That's nice!" Angela said.
Menedelia looked at her grandmother. "I'll take you home with me, Grandma!" she said.
"H-home...w...where is...home?" Sita's asked.
Menedelia released a deep sigh. She looked at Rebecca and Angela. "Let's go back to the hut so that I can wash my Grandma's body, she look awful," she said.
"Okay, let's go!" Rebecca said.
They teleported back to Menedelia's fortress.
A moment later.
They landed on the fortress.
Menedelia brought her Grandmother to the backyard where the basin of water was located.
"Grandma, I'll bath you and afterward you will eat delicious food with us, okay?" she said.
Sitas nodded her head and smiled, feeling comfortable with the warm presence of the woman in front of her.
Menedelia starts washing her Grandma's feet and hands with water and soap.
Rebecca and Angela went inside the house.
Rebecca went to Menedelia's room and took some clothes and a towel. She handed it to Angela. "Can you please give it to Granny? I'll go to the kitchen to prepare delicious dish for us," she said.
"Sure!" Angela accepted the clothes and towel. She left the house and went to the backyard. She put the clothes on the table under the shade of the tree.
"Thanks, dear," Menedelia said. 'Where is Rebecca?" she asked.
"Preparing delicious dish in the kitchen. Should I help her or I'll help you?" Angela asked.
"Just help Rebecca," Menedelia replied.
"Okay," Angela said and retreated on her step going back to the house.
She entered the house and found Rebecca in the kitchen slicing onions and garlic on the wooden chopping board.
She lowered herself on the chair. "Need help? I can do that," she volunteered.
Rebecca smiled and handed the knife and chopping board to Angela. "Are you okay?" she asked.
Angela released a deep sigh. "Deep inside I'm not okay... but I have to be okay somehow. I still need to know why my mother go with that Rigor who kidnap me? I was shocked and confused why she did it? There's so many things I need to learn from Granny," she said miserably.
Rebecca saw the anguished plastered on Angela's face. She breathed deeply. After Granny told her about her past with Evelyn she finally understood why Evelyn had to do it. "Don't worry, you will know everything. Let's wait after Granny finished bathing her grandmother, that's the time you can start asking her questions about your mother's past," she said.
"Okay," Angela murmured and start slicing the green leafy vegetable on the chopping board.
Two hours later.
Menedelia finished bathing her grandmother.
Sitas looks better now that her hair was washed clean and all the dirt on her body was removed.
They proceed to the kitchen and ate the delicious dish that Rebecca and Angela prepared for them.
After they finished eating, Menedelia brought her grandma to her bedroom and tried talking to her but Sitas seemed to be not in the right frame of mind. She just stares at her and her words don't mean anything to her.
A half-hour later.
Sitas looked at her. "I'm sleepy..." she said.
"Okay, you may sleep now, Grandma. Sleep well," Menedelia said and assisted her in the bed.
Sitas shut her eyes to sleep.
Menedelia's eyes watered, a mixture of sadness and happiness flooded her system.
She looked at the window.
So many things happened today!
She's mentally, emotionally, and physically tired. She lowered herself on the bed beside her grandma and shut her eyes to sleep.
A few minutes later, the two women were sleeping soundly beside each other.
Rebecca opened the door slightly and saw the two women sleeping on the bed. He closed the door again and went to Angela's side. "Let's wait later, 'coz they both had fallen sleep already," she told her.
"It's okay..." Angela replied. She rose to her feet. "I'll wait outside and watch the Daffodil flowers in full bloom," she said.
Rebecca nods her head. "If you feel sleepy, come to my room, you can sleep there," she offered.
"Thanks, maybe later," Angela said and exited the door.
One hour later.
Menedelia woke up and left the room. She looked at the window and saw Angela. The girl was staring at the flowers, wearing a sad expression on her face. She went to the cabinet, removed the letters from the drawer, and took one of the letters that were addressed to Angela. She put the rest of the letters back in the drawer and left the room.
She went to Angela and gave her the letter. "Here's the letter from your mother Evelyn. Read it as many times as you can so that you will understand everything," she said.
Angela accepted the letter with a trembling hand and began reading it.
Menedelia retreated to the house to give Angela privacy. She sat on the chair.
Rebecca exited her room and sat beside her. "You already give her the letter?"
Menedelia nodded her head. "Yup. I'll give the rest of the letters to the recipient today including the one Evelyn made for her parents," she said. "Speaking of Evelyn's parents, they must be worried to death already, wondering why we disappeared out of the blue! I need to go back there now!" she said and looked at Rebecca anxiously. "Can you take care of the two women for me while I'm gone?"
"Sure! I'll take care of Grandma Sitas and Angela for you," Rebecca assured her.
"Okay, gotta go!" Menedelia said and went back to her room to get the letter Evelyn made for her parents.
She took a deep breath and calmed her nerves. She hates to be the bearer of bad news, but somebody has to do it for Evelyn. She faced the mirror and chanted a spell of illusion restoring the old look on her face.
She initiated the teleportation in her mind.
A moment later she landed outside the residence of Evelyn's parents.
The servants saw her, she was taken immediately to the living room. When she arrived there the old couple was already wearing an anxious expression on their faces.
Evelyn's father looked at her with a questioning glare.
"Where is our daughter?" he asked.
"Why you're here alone but our daughter is missing?" the mother asked.
Menedelia cleared her throat. "I'm sorry about your daughter. She instructed me to give you her letter so that you don't have to worry about her," she said. She handed the letter to Evelyn's father.
The couple read the letter together.
Half an hour later.
The face of Evelyn's father displayed anger. "Is this true? My daughter was already divorced with her husband and she eloped with her new lover this morning that is why the two of you went missing?"
Menedelia nodded her head. "Yes, that's true, Sir! She also told me that she will visit you one of these days and introduce her new lover to you. So, please calm down, Sir. Just wait for her return so that she can explain everything to you in her own words," she replied calmly.
Evelyn's mother was furious. "That stupid girl! How can she divorce her perfect husband!?" she said indignantly.
Menedelia stood up. "I would like to take my leave, Sir, Madam! I'll inform the carriage to return to the capital," she said.
"Wait... did you know where is my daughter now? Can you bring us to her? We would try to change her mind!" the father said urgently.
Menedelia shook her head. "I'm sorry, Sir, I can't do that. They left me in the plaza earlier and told me to go home. When I ask your daughter where she's going, she told me that they will travel in a far away place. She told me that you shouldn't worry because she will return her one day to explain her side and introduce her new lover to you," she said.
The father released a deep sigh and looked at his wife. "What can we do? She already made up her mind! Such ungrateful child!" he lamented.
"Evelyn, why are you doing this to us? Why!?" The wife shook her head many times, her face marred with sorrow, very much disappointed with her daughter's decision.
"I'll take my leave now, Sir, Madam!" Menedelia said and walked towards the entrance of the house. She went to the stable and instructed the driver of the carriage to return to the capital because Lady Evelyn was already gone.
Done talking to the driver, she went to the toilet, and from there she teleported back to her fortress in the forest.
...
She appeared in her place, in front of the hut.
When she entered the house...
She comes face to face with Angela's angry countenance.
