Chapter 26 - The Arrival!
Two hours later.
While Laura was sleeping soundly in the bed. Something creepy was happening inside her room. A cold wind was blowing outside entering the open window.
Then out of the blue...the dresser table that was already taken to the storage area suddenly materialized inside the room and back on the same area where it occupied for years.
The mirror was turning hazy and covered with a black mist, then slowly...an outline of the figure of a man became visible in the mirror...the man was watching at Laura intensely.
The man in the mirror was staring at Laura's sleeping form for one full hour...until a knock on the door destroyed the solitude of the room.
The man in the mirror disappeared instantly after the third knock.
Laura stirred in her sleep, she opened her eyes slowly, she glanced at the window and stretched her body. She noticed that the surrounding outside was getting darker, the evening finally arrived, the room was already submerged in semi-darkness. "Holy, did she sleep that long?"
The knock persisted. Laura jumped from the bed, walked towards the door, switch on the light, and opened it. "Mother, I'm sorry, I had fallen asleep soundly..." she apologized.
"Daughter, dinner is ready, come down in the dining hall. Your father is already there waiting for us," Rosa said.
"Okay, Mother. I'll be there in a minute, I will just comb my disheveled hair first," Laura replied.
Rosa nods her head and walked away going back downstairs to join her husband in the dining hall.
Laura closed the door and looked around to find her comb. She found it at the dresser table. "There you are!" she murmured. She lowered herself on the chair and began combing her long hair while watching her reflection in the mirror....then...her eyes widened...wait...what's going on? The comb fell from her hand in shock.
This dresser was already taken out of her bedroom a few hours ago, that's right! She had seen the two servants took this dresser out of her room with her two eyes! She's 100% sure about that!
But why it's now back inside her room?
What the hell is going on!?
This is madness!
She closed her eyes for a moment trying to clear her confused mind. Then suddenly...she felt someone combing her hair! She opened her eyes and saw Luke's image combing her hair while looking at her face.
Her heart beats faster in her rib cage. "Get away from me!" she shouted. She was about to stand up and leave the room but to her horror, she can't move her body! She was like a statue, she can't move the majority of her body parts, only her eyeballs and mouth can move. What's going on!?
She knew now that the culprit who brought the dresser table back into her room was no other than Luke's doppelganger!
"Release me!" she demanded furiously.
"Yes, I will. Just let me comb your hair like I always do. You don't remember? You love it every time I comb your hair..." Luke said. He continues combing her hair for several minutes.
"Stop telling me your ridiculous claims! We've never been together in this lifetime. How can you say those words?" she glared at him.
A bitter smile appeared on Luke's lips. "You have forgotten so easily, or you just don't want to remember our past?" he said looking deeply into her eyes.
Laura was having a headache trying to understand who is this mysterious entity playing havoc in her consciousnesses? He kept reminding her of things that she does not know of.
"Hey, whoever you are, you must have mistaken me for someone you know in your life. But I swear to you...I never meet someone like you in my life, never! So, please, leave me alone! Release me, my parents are already waiting for me in the dining hall," she demanded.
"Okay...relax...calm down! I'll let you go, besides, I'm done combing your hair," Luke said and planted a kiss on her head.
Laura felt his kiss, she felt warm all over, it's no different from Luke's kiss at all. "Release me now!" she demanded.
"Okay...okay...calm down," Luke said. "Go now..." he said softly and disappeared from the mirror.
Laura stood abruptly, she sauntered towards the door and left the room. When she reached the dining hall, her parents were already eating dinner.
Simon asked, "Where have you been? Why does it take you so long to go down?"
"I'm sorry, Father. I got some stomach trouble and went to the toilet for a few minutes," she apologized.
"Okay, take your seat now and eat your meal," Simon said.
Rosa asked, "Husband, what time do you think the vampires will arrive tonight?"
"Maybe....between 10 to 12 midnight," Simon replied.
Rosa released a deep sigh.
"We'll just wait for them on the terrace," Laura said.
"Stop, let's not talk about vampires. Let's finished eating our meals," Simon reprimanded them.
"Okay, husband," Rosa said.
They resumed eating and finished their meals in thirty minutes.
After eating, they retired to the terrace.
Simon ordered the male servants to bring the baggage containing Laura's belongings into the terrace.
The servants noticed nothing unusual inside Laura's bedroom. They picked up the baggage and exited the room going to the terrace.
Simon instructed the servants to inform the maid in the kitchen to bring tea to the terrace.
The servants nodded their heads and left.
Laura looked at her parents. "Mother, Father, you can rest in your room if you want. I'll just tell the servant to inform you if the vampires are finally here..." she suggested.
"Okay, you do that, daughter," Simon said.
The couple rose to their feet and left the terrace going to their room.
Laura released a deep sigh. This night has finally come! Tonight her life will change drastically. She was just hoping that her vampire husband is considerate and not a total evil.
She needs to see her sister Sofia again, alive, safe, and sound, she hopes they didn't harm her sister, that's all she wishes for tonight.
The housemaid arrived with the tray, she placed the teapot on the table along with three cups and a spoon. "Anything else, Miss?" asked the maid.
Laura smiled at the maid. "No more, thank you," she replied.
"I'll take my leave now, enjoy your tea..." the servant said and left the terrace.
Laura holds the teapot with her right hand and poured the tea into the cup. She was sipping the tea while looking heavenward. The sky is glittering tonight as the stars came out in full force bathing heaven with a shimmering glow. The full moon was luminous adding to the breathtaking beauty of the night.
One hour later.
Laura saw dark people wearing a black hooded cloak, they were hovering on the horizon approaching the terrace...her heart was beating faster in her rib cage...the vampires have finally arrived!
Was her vampire husband among them?
