Chapter 70: A Bad Feeling
Chapter 70
"Hello, I'm Qin Wei,"
Qin Wei nodded politely and also introduced herself.
Youyou smiled and said:
"There are meals arranged by the show crew over there. They are worried the performers waiting to go on stage later might get hungry, so everyone has a portion.
I saw you've been sitting here for quite a while, and may not have noticed since your performance is scheduled later. I'm worried you might be hungry, so I came over to let you know. If you need it, I can help grab some food for you."
She stuck out her tongue playfully and continued,
"Of course, I also wanted to take this chance to get to know you, Big Sis Qin. You must remember me!"
Before she could finish, her agent called for her, saying it was almost time for her performance.
Youyou yelled "Coming!" to her agent, then quickly went to the staff to get a simple meal box and put it in front of Qin Wei,
She waved at Qin Wei, then trotted off without giving Qin Wei a chance to decline.
Qin Wei looked at the meal box in front of her. It was still sealed with the restaurant's packaging, and had the show's stamp of receipt along with the order time and restaurant's number. It didn't look like it had been opened before, so it seemed the girl named Youyou really just wanted to get to know her.
Qin Wei looked at her phone. It had been almost an hour, how come Li Yao still hadn't come up?
And he wasn't picking up her calls or replying to her texts...
Her own performance was coming up soon. Deducting makeup time, she didn't have much time left to rest...
Qin Wei looked at the meal box in front of her. Since it was ordered by the show crew, and Li Yao still hadn't come back, she might as well just eat it. As for that girl, she could thank her properly later if they meet again!
...
On the other side of the backstage resting room.
Youyou would be on stage in two more acts. She stood by the door taking deep breaths, looking very nervous still.
A pair of hands pressed down on her shoulders from behind.
"Don't be nervous. The dance teacher said you did great during practice. Just do it on stage like you did during training."
Youyou turned around and smiled at the woman behind her, "Sister Liu Xin? Thank you for the encouragement. I'll do my best!"
Liu Xin smiled and nodded.
"Did you eat enough just now? The salad dinner was sponsored by our company to the show crew. It's our own food, don't be shy." She helped tidy up Youyou's clothes and continued,
"It might be a bit plain, mainly to avoid anything too oily before going on stage."
Youyou looked very grateful.
"It was plenty, I had some just now. And I also took your advice to go offer the other Big Sisters some food as a chance to get acquainted. I didn't expect a lot of them graduated from the Capital Academy of Drama!
Liu Xin casually asked, "Did Qin Wei take it too?"
"Yeah, I thought she'd be hard to get along with at first, but turns out she's very nice."
"Of course," Liu Xin did not dispute this. She had smiled and helped fix Youyou's clothes, saying as she did,
"Qin Wei is very nice, I had a great time recording a show with her last time..."
...
The salad was fresh and tasted great. After a few bites, Qin Wei glanced at the livestream on the screen.
It was Youyou's turn to go on stage. She was performing the dance "Winner".
Although she looked slender, she had good power when dancing. Her moves were solid and she was very coordinated with the music. Clearly she had put in a lot of practice. Qin Wei thought she did great, and along with the salad, her impression of this thoughtful girl improved exponentially.
She also glanced at the bullet comments, most of them were praising her.
There were a lot of jazz dancers in this competition though. Qin Wei didn't know what the earlier performers did, but from when she started watching, among the 15 performers, 3 sang, 1 sang and played guitar, 1 sang and danced, the remaining 10 were jazz dances with different songs.
Even though everyone's skill levels varied, with the same type of acts back to back, the audience can still get aesthetic fatigue. Other than a few exceptional ones, the rest may not get good results.
Qin Wei was a little worried. She also saw the trending searches - the actress with the most buzz right now was "Qiao Sixiao".
Apparently she went first. As the opening act there was a lot of pressure to hype up the audience, but her brilliant performance brought the opening to a climax. Many who saw it praised her to no end -
【Ahhhhhhh! I'm dead! Qiao Sixiao, you slayed me!】
【Little Qiao's dance sealed the deal! Her styling today was amazing!】
【I thought Little Qiao was going to sing, didn't expect her to bust out a street dance, blew my mind!】
【Me too! I thought Little Qiao was going to do ballet, the calls online were highest for her to do the dance 'Fallen Fairy', but Little Qiao courageously stepped out of her comfort zone and took on an even bigger challenge, without letting her fans down!】
【Little Qiao has huge potential!!】
【Little Qiao so awesome!!!】
Street dance? Now Qin Wei was a little interested in her.
Unfortunately the female stars were all busy, so after their own performances they hurried off. Qin Wei didn't get a chance to meet her when she arrived either.
Ranking second in the trending searches was Chen Xinya, the actress she had mercilessly smacked with volleyballs, even taking her leftovers to "go".
Her performance also gained recognition from many. It was a guitar accompaniment of an English song. She spoke English very well and sounded relaxed singing it, showcasing her lazy vocal tones nicely -
【everybreathutake, Xinya picked a really great song】
【I've heard the male version on repeat for 365 days, didn't expect Xinya to present it in another style, now I can keep looping it!】
【This guitar accompaniment fits Xinya's temperament so perfectly!】
【Hurry up and open the voting channel! I want to vote for Big Sis!!】
【The voting opens at midnight tonight!! xdm charge!! We must get Xinya into the Top 9!】
【Xinya deserves it!】
...
Continuing to watch the competition, Qin Wei was in a great mindset and also confident in her own abilities, so she was evaluating each performer who went on stage in her mind -
"Not bad."
"She's quite good too."
"Haha went off key..."
"Hit a wrong note but great attitude."
...
"Teacher Qin, time to get styled."
Qin Wei put down the salad box. As the show progressed, fewer female celebrities lingered backstage. By the time she went for styling, there were only a few people left.
"Cough cough cough..."
When it was time for styling, Qin Wei felt an itchiness in her throat and couldn't help coughing.
It had started not long ago, but she didn't notice at first since it wasn't obvious.
"Cough cough cough..."
At the same time, Li Yao rushed in, out of breath and exhausted.
He was drenched in sweat and looked very tired.
"Why are you just getting here now? Cough cough cough..."
Qin Wei asked him, but also felt discomfort in her throat when she spoke. If it continued like this on stage, it would definitely affect her performance.
"Don't even get me started, just real unlucky. The staff member gave me wrong directions, I went from Block A to Block F. Wasted so much time going back and forth before I finally figured it out from calling...So hard... so hard to find my way back...Qin Wei, what's wrong with your face..."
Without thinking, Qin Wei touched her own face.
Ignoring his own fatigue, Li Yao came over to examine her face left and right, then yelled in a trembling, cracking voice,
"Qin Wei, don't fucking tell me you ate peanut butter!?"
