The Unexpected Rise Before My Exit from the Entertainment Industry

Chapter 25: Do I still have a show

Chapter 25

Qin Wei looked at her phone again. There were still only five digits in her account.

"Where's the money?"

"I have it here."

Li Yao's tone suddenly became grave:

"Young miss, there's something you seem to have forgotten. A year has passed, and it's time for you to pay the rent."

"Rent? What rent??"

Li Yao hurried over after hanging up the phone. Pushing open the door to the villa, he saw Qin Wei sprawled on the floor, utterly devastated.

Yes, the rent. She hadn't bought this villa, she was renting it. The annual rent plus utilities and property fees came to over 3 million. The landlord knew she was a celebrity who couldn't run away, so every year she had to live there for a full year before settling the bill.

Just her luck that this day had come. The original owner had enjoyed a year here, but now it was up to her to pay.

A 100 million dollar mansion vanished like a soap bubble in an instant. Qin Wei, you're so rich, why the hell did you rent a place!??

"Young miss, the floor is cold. Get up, get up quickly..."

Seeing her like this scared Li Yao out of his wits. He hurried over to pull her to her feet, but she seemed to have lost her soul.

Mud can't support a crumbling wall.

Qin Wei looked at him as if seeing a lifeline, grabbing his arm with both hands:

"Li Yao, how much will I have left after paying the rent?"

"Still short 300,000..."

"Oh, 300,000 is enough..." Tears streamed down Qin Wei's face. "Why are we still short 300,000? Did I take a deposit on this house??"

"Get up first." Li Yao helped her sit down on the sofa.

Qin Wei was in despair, but suddenly thought of something. She sprang up from the sofa, pulling Li Yao upstairs and down a long corridor to the walk-in closet.

Inside was every girl's dream.

"All these bags are Hermes, these are Burberry, and this LV, Dior...how much can we get for all this?"

Qin Wei pointed to a whole wall of luxury brand bags and asked Li Yao.

Li Yao shook his head:

"Worthless, can't sell them."

Qin Wei was stunned. Could it be that a big celebrity like her carried fake bags?

Li Yao glanced at her and randomly took down a bag. Engraved in metal on the clasp were her initials -

"Vivian_Qin"

"These were all gifted by the brands. Each one is limited edition and custom made for you. In the past, every bag could've been sold for a fortune, but with your current popularity, no one wants to collect bags engraved with your name."

Li Yao's words dealt Qin Wei yet another blow.

Perhaps out of pity, Li Yao looked at the pale-faced Qin Wei and took out three vintage LV bags from the cabinet. "You bought these when you first debuted. They've been discontinued for years now, so we should be able to get some money for them. I'll help cover the rest, so don't worry too much..."

Qin Wei nodded. She had no heart to say words of thanks in this moment, just gently tugged at his sleeve:

"Also cancel the lease on the house. I can't afford it anymore..."

Li Yao frowned:

"Even like this, you still want to quit the industry?"

Qin Wei looked up at him:

"Do I have any more shows or movies lined up?"

"None for now." Li Yao admitted. Then he sat down next to her against the cabinet and said, "But there's a brand new variety show in casting. The assistant director saw your performance in the last two variety shows and thinks you have potential. I haven't negotiated the price yet, but it's definitely better than now. So why not take the offer for now, and don't quit just yet?"

Qin Wei picked up her phone and waved it in front of Li Yao. She gave a wry smile:

"Looks like it's too late. Before your call, I posted this on Weibo..."

【Qin Wei_Vivian: It's time to announce this decision. I plan to quit the industry. Thank you everyone for your love and support over the years!】
