Chapter 12: Ji Yao
Chapter 12
Qi Shi turned to the girl behind him and said, "Would you like to come with me to the school infirmary?"
Yan Xi stood behind Qi Shi, tilted her head, and the painful fragility in her eyes vanished completely. Yan Xi raised her eyebrows at Zhou Zhou.
Damn, I knew you were faking it! A repeat bloomer.
"Okay, president."
Zhou Zhou wanted to lash out, but didn't dare to due to Qi Shi's presence. He could only restrain himself.
As Yan Xi walked past Zhou Zhou, Zhou Zhou felt something brush against his clothes.
Yan Xi followed behind Qi Shi and noticed he was walking faster and faster, not towards the infirmary.
After following for a while, Yan Xi realized he had avoided most people and stopped.
It was as if Qi Shi didn't see her and walked on uncaring.
Qi Shi's straight back was like a tall pine, and he had a faint, noble pine scent about him.
Why? Because Yan Xi had deliberately gotten close to smell him earlier.
His shoulders, his proportions were perfectly suited to Yan Xi's aesthetic standards.
"President," Yan Xi called out, but Qi Shi's pace was completely unaffected, as if he hadn't been the one to say he was taking her to the infirmary earlier.
Is that so.....
You want to distance yourself from me? Or make me retreat knowing the difficulty?
Or maybe you looked down on me from the start.
Yan Xi's smile grew wider.
"President, you're walking so quickly, do you want me to chase you?"
A lazy yet mocking female voice rang out behind Qi Shi.
Her volume was just right for the two of them to hear clearly.
There were fewer and fewer people around.
Qi Shi's footsteps paused for a moment before finally stopping.
"Although I don't know how you found out, this isn't something you can get involved in," said Qi Shi coldly as he turned around and took off his glasses.
He was warning her about what Yan Xi had said to him today.
"What if I was Tu Qingluan’s girlfriend, would that make me qualified?" Yan Xi controlled her tone, seeming innocent yet deliberately coy.
"A girlfriend telling on her boyfriend for campus violence?"
Yan Xi smiled charmingly and answered, "Just some lover’s quarrel.”
Upon hearing this, Qi Shi turned to leave.
Despite having his back to Yan Xi, it didn’t hinder the girl’s enthusiasm at all.
"But...." Yan Xi hooked the corner of her mouth.
"Compared to Tu Qingluan, I like President Qi more."
Yan Xi was smiling deliberately charmingly. They were right that she didn’t look like a high schooler with a face like that.
Her allure was nearly overflowing, but it still wasn’t enough.
Her seductive beauty and the contrast with her innocent tone intertwined. The mismatch between the underage girl’s stunning attractiveness and forbidden desire made her seem childlike as she spoke:
"So...do you mind if I play the field a bit? President Qi?"
......
[Not chasing anymore?]
Qi Shi left.
Looks like I pushed too hard.
[He already helped me unexpectedly. My plan didn't include him to begin with and I don't have enough bargaining chips anyway.]
[That's it? What bargaining chips do you need? Just ask for his phone number directly.]
[You sure know what you're doing, Pandora. Why don't you just crawl into his bed tonight?]
Without anything to offer in return, I don't even have the qualifications to approach him. Beauty may be the entry ticket but it's not everything. Yan Xi's fingers twitched uncontrollably.
But that's what makes it more interesting.
[And Sister Yao is still waiting for me.]
Wearing a white school uniform blouse with a pleated skirt, the girl’s pure beauty seemed to shine at the school gate, drawing many sidelong glances.
"Yan Xi!" Ji Yao saw Yan Xi and smiled sweetly with a wave of her hand.
"What happened to your hand?" Ji Yao exclaimed.
The purple bruises on Yan Xi's hand remained untreated and unresolved.
"It's nothing."
Seeing Yan Xi unwilling to talk about it, Ji Yao pressed her lips together.
“Let me put some medicinal wine on it for you Yan Xi.” Ji Yao looked at her earnestly. Yan Xi declined with a shake of her head, not feeling any pain. She wanted to go back and do physics exercises. Peng Haiyang had told her the midterms were coming up in a couple days and to get prepared.
“Wait for me Yan Xi!” Ji Yao suddenly dashed into the crowds.
A gust of wind blew past and it seemed something was gradually overlapping before Yan Xi’s eyes.
People coming and going, cars speeding by. Yan Xi calmed down for a moment feeling a little cold.
[I look very beautiful now, right Pandora?] With her mood overflowing, Loki Maman subconsciously clenched her little finger, and her pale blood vessels emerged.
Her breathing began to grow uneven.
[What's wrong with you?!] Pandora felt Loki Maman losing control of her emotions.
[Nothing.....]
Suddenly, Yan Xi felt her hand enveloped in warmth.
“Sorry for the wait. I just asked Auntie Zhou who sells yogurt. She said a hot egg could help dissipate the bruising.”
“I don’t know what happened, but Yan Xi’s hand looks nice and you look nice too, so you should treat yourself better, okay?”
A breeze caressed her face. Ji Yao had bought a boiled egg wrapped in cloth, gently pressing it on the purple bruises on Yan Xi’s wrist. The steaming egg helped disperse the blood clots.
Ji Yao’s face was slightly sweaty as if she had rushed about.
Feeling dizzy, Yan Xi lowered her head meeting Ji Yao’s eyes.
They were a beautiful amber color.
“Thanks....” Yan Xi somewhat awkwardly bent her fingers slightly, the shadows clouding her vision earlier were fading away.
“Sorry for being so abrupt. Here, you do it.” Ji Yao kindly perceived Yan Xi’s unease and handed her the hot egg.
Yan Xi quickly took the egg.
“I got this hot boiled egg from Auntie Zhou at the food stall on 10th Street intersection just now. Use this to disperse the bruising but you still need to treat it properly when you get home.”
“And yogurt too! I didn’t know what flavor you liked so I got plain. Mine’s mango flavor, it’s super yummy! Try some Yan Xi!” Ji Yao looked expectantly at Yan Xi, seeming eager to promote this store to her.
Seeing Ji Yao panting made Yan Xi feel somewhat moved.
“Um...is Ji Yao also a boarding student?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh.”
Yan Xi seemed at a loss for what more to say.
Noticing Yan Xi’s aloofness, Ji Yao seemed to realize something.
“Um...Yan Xi, don’t take what was said on the forum to heart.”
“They were just careless comments...don’t feel bad.”
“Pfft!” Yan Xi laughed brightly like ice and snow melting.
“What’s so funny?”
“Did I say something wrong, Yan Xi?”
“I didn’t take it to heart. I was just thinking earlier.” Yan Xi capitalized on her height advantage to see the confusion on the other girl’s face.
Thinking?
“Then what were you laughing at just now.....” Ji Yao suddenly felt a shadow cast over her face. She was pulled back abruptly with Yan Xi’s icy voice ringing in her ear:
“Hand over your phone.”
