Chapter 92: 92:Her Other Side
Evan's sudd request stunned the two ladies.
Aria and Suri tried to persuade him to stay for a few more days until he was completely fine, but Evan just wouldn't list to them. It felt like an order that couldn't be tak aback.
Also, they also noticed a restlessness in Evan's eyes. He didn't seem afraid, but he appeared eager to get out of this as quickly as possible.
Fortunately, after a thorough examination, the doctor assured them that Evan was out of danger and there were no immediate concerns.
At the same time, the doctor was quite ke on examining Evan's body further. Because the young man's healing rate had startled him and all the hospital doctors.
In a mere days, Evan's body had healed significantly, whereas others would take almost a month to reach the same level of recovery as him. It was alarming and made them wonder if there was a secret behind this.
Some ev pleaded with Evan to stay for research and experimts, speculating that it was thanks to his hereditary factor or there was some kind of mutation which they eagerly wanted to uncover. However, Evan ignored their pleas.
A few ev considered resorting to more extreme means, but Suri hit them hard before they could harbor such thoughts.
During discharge, the doctor asked Evan questions about his diet and other things in his lifestyle, hoping to get something, to which Evan simply replied coldly.
"I don't drink...I don't smoke...Except for sweet things, I mostly avoid deep-fried things and opt to go for barbeque and tandoors."
In fact, if not for keeping an appearance, he might have wanted to strangle a few people here since he was certain that some were in cahoots with Steve, otherwise who might have administered that medicine that woke him up forcefully.
The doctor's expression was quite a sight to look at after hearing Evan's words.
"Wasn't this what most health-conscious people do? What do you have that makes it differt?" the doctor wondered.
Evan looked at the doctor's dog shit expression and clicked his tongue in irritation.
His healing rate had improved due to the effect of Spirit Vitalizing tea boosting his metabolism. But he couldn't reveal that, could he?
Secondly, he had also saved 5 stat points he got from the system, of which, he put in vitality, and although the number seemed insignificant, it wasn't.
The more vitality one has, the faster their wounds would heal. And considering was the average vitality of any normal human, his standing at 5 was already quite remarkable.
_____
At the airport, Suri's gaze bore into Evan with a bitter intsity.
"Do you have anything to say before we part?" Her voice was gtle and calm, though tsion crackled beath the surface.
Evan met her stare, his expression unreadable as he studied her carefully. "It's not like we won't see each other again," he remarked calmly, though his eyes betrayed a hint of regret.
Suri's lips twitched at his response. This guy had turned into a block of ice.
There were so many things she wanted to say, but courage failed her. She didn't want to burd Evan with more troubles.
Letting out a heavy sigh, Suri decided to address the heart of the matter. "I've looked into the incidt... There's a 90% certainty that Richard is behind this."
"And the other %?" Evan inquired.
"We'll need to catch the driver who fled to solidify the evidce for court. But my gut says that it's him," Suri explained, her voice tinged with determination and she asked.
"And what do you want to do about him?"
Evan's gaze swept calmly a the bustling airport terminal before settling on Suri.
"Leave him for now," Evan replied, his voice low and deliberate.
"Are you sure?" Suri pressed, searching his face for any hint of hesitation.
Evan remained silt, his expression resolute. Without saying another word to Suri, he turned to Aria.
"Let's go," Evan said quietly, his tone final.
Aria nodded and stepped forward, gtly pushing Evan's wheelchair towards the departure gate.
While turning Evan noticed something.
[ Name: Suri Barrett
????
Affection: 60 ]
It came out as a surprise, alas for the currt Evan, it wasn't ough to draw his curiosity.
As their figures receded from her view, Suri's calm facade faltered. Her eyes harded with resolve, gleaming like those of a tigress ready to pounce on her prey.
_____
After they left Suri drove her car to a secluded mansion outside the city. After an tire day of traveling, she appeared near farmland.
Not many dared to approach this restricted place, which belonged to the territory of a famous overlord, the Singh.
Despite their wealth and influce, the Singh maintained a discreet presce in societal affairs, unlike Suri's paternal family, the Barretts, who had wide connections.
As her car tered the estate unimpeded, Suri stepped out and spotted a young man approaching with a fridly grin. He was her cousin, just twty-five but already overseeing the Singh family's business from behind the sces.
He was the Overlord of the place, involved in illegal activities, which included all about smuggling weapons, cars, and things that people wanted to move without going through lofty official procedures and taxes.
As for other illegal activities like drugs and such, if he dared to do that, her maternal family would just break his legs and throw him into the slums to beg.
Dressed in a shirt and gray pants, the young man looked sharp. He greeted Suri with a hug and a playful question, "Would you have come to see me if not for that woman?"
Suri nodded knowingly and replied, "Who knows? Also, that woman meant nothing to me anymore the momt he bared her fangs."
Her cousin raised an eyebrow and asked, "What did she do to upset you?"
Suri sighed, explaining, "She was my best frid, yet she betrayed me for Richard. The effort I put into our fridship meant nothing to her. I tolerated her because it didn't matter much, but.."
Her cousin listed atttively.
"Richard's involvemt?"
"That's where it gets interesting," Suri continued. "I discovered a common link wh I investigated. Also, remember the incidt earlier today?"
"How is Richard getting pin-drop information about me? Ev if he has people to tag me, I believe in my secret guard's capabilities to shake them off."
Her cousin nodded thoughtfully and th teased, "And what about the boy? Did you fancy him or have dibs on him, huh?"
Suri's expression turned serious. "Don't. Or I'll inform Uncle about your rect activities of keeping woman. I have the photos from last month wh you were sneaking through the airport."
Her cousin gulped nervously. "Please, forgive me. I won't pry into your affairs again. Just don't involve my father."
Suri nodded firmly. "Take me to see that woman."
Her cousin nodded quickly before leading Suri towards the underg base located below the mansion gs.
