Chapter 232: Apology and Return [2]
***
Amon stood up silently from his kneeling position, straightening himself.
He adjusted his clothes as the cold wind caressed his bare cheeks in the form of a light breeze, something impossible before because of the mask.
The breeze was relieving and soothing in a sense, as if taking away half his burdens from his soul and pouring a blissful cold bucket of water on it to calm it down.
It was different from the other breezes as well.
It was as if it was intently relaxing and bringing a sense of rest to Amon's exhausted body.
To him, he understood the breeze.
In his mind, it was a form of the acceptance of the person resting in the ground of the words that he had just spoken.
As if the woman in front of him was caressing his cheeks in the form of a breeze.
A slight relaxed smile spread upon Amon's lips as he stared at the gravestone silently for a few seconds, intense sadness filled in his eyes.
Eventually, a content and tired long exhale escaped from his lips.
Still shrouded in the grasp of the mist around him even though it was sunset, Amon retrieved his mask.
He put it on, letting go of his clones at the same time now that they had served their purpose. Fortunately, during the whole time he was here, nobody had been able to come close to him.
It was to be expected as the people had just gone back to their homes a few hours ago, so why would they come again just in this short time.
Letting out a final exhale, Amon started walking again, his cane tapping against the cold hard ground.
As he walked, his eyes passed through the rows of graves, reading their names one by one. Tap. Step. Tap. Step. Tap. Step.

Suddenly, Amon stopped as his form froze with his eyes widened.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
They trembled as they halted on the tombstone in front of him.
The name...
It was familiar to him.
Emilia Claire. The head lady at the infirmary.
Memories flashed before his eyes, a stream of them, passing and replaying in his brain within seconds.
Even though he didn't know her all that well, Amon was way too grateful to her.
He had ended up in the infirmary a lot of times and every single time, she had checked up on him and treated him like he was her little brother.
Her personality was also quite likable, as she not only cared but was also pretty funny at times.
It made Amon feel at ease and comfortable around her.
Every memory of the time he interacted with her replayed in his mind and then...
Another one.
The sight of a burnt, battered up corpse strewn and laid across the floor, completely unrecognizable.
Her white overall lab coat and clothes had all been burnt to ashes as well.
It was a corpse that Amon had seen for a bare moment when fighting that illusionist.
She didn't die in the authority...
She was killed by the hands of a high ranking Decimated Heavens member, that illusionist. By the very person that Amon had later killed.
A burning flame ignited in Amon against as something broke inside him.
Some type of seal as a flood of rage boiled within him, making his eyes glow in an amethyst shade behind the mask.
His teeth gritted behind his mask as he clenched his hands, his nails digging into his palms, drawing out blood.
The rage boiled over his top, almost making his eyes flash in a purple color but fortunately, he was quickly brought to his senses as a wave of exhaustion hit him.
His eyes turned back to black and his vision almost turned black as he stumbled, barely controlling himself.
His form wavered, stumbling from here to there on the floor while a creeping headache hit his brain.
Suddenly, his vision flashed.
And in the next heartbeat, the souls of everyone in the graveyard was standing above their graves, staring at him.
Their stares were filled with hatred and contempt.
'You killed us.'
'You killed us..'
It echoed inside his mind repeatedly in an echoing harrowing tone.
Amon clutched his head as he gritted his head again, but not able to close his eyes.
'YOU KILLED US!'
All of the souls screamed at him, including Emilia who stood just beside him, her screaming and terrifying face an inch away from his.
'Stop...stop...please....stop..STOP! STOP! PLEASE!' Amon stumbled here and there, trying to make his way out of the graveyard.
Wherever he looked, a soul would be in front of him, making him stagger and stumble back. He fell on the floor, clutching the muddy soil as he tried to crawl away.
The screams. The faces.
All of them were driving him insane as he clutched his head and skin, trying to tear it off to escape from this nightmare.
'Someone, please, where I can go?' Amon's weak tone echoed in his mind as he tried to remember someone whom he could go to.
He crawled across the floor barely as the screams got more horrifying and scarier.
The faces of the souls twisted into wretched smiles that extended from ear to ear, transfixed
on him.
"NO!" Amon screamed, trying to run away from the graveyard.
There was only one person whom he could go to amidst this condition now.
The only one who could at least barely understand his condition.

Amelia's eyes widened as the door shot open, startling her.
She was instantly alarmed, turning in a battle-ready stance.
But when she saw the person who entered, she was sent into a state of shock and concern.
A figure stumbled in, clad in a black cloak that covered his whole body, with a cracked mask
covering his face.
There was dirt and blood smeared all over his clothes and mask, and his exhausted form wavered and stumbled through the room.
Before eventually, he tripped and fell straight into the sofa, falling unconcious.
Even though Amelia had never seen the figure before, from just a glance into his gaze when he
entered, she knew who it was.
Leaving everything on her mind, she quickly shot to the sofa, by Amon's side.
She kneeled down and carefully turned Amon around, resting his body comfortably on the
sofa.
Just a look at his form could tell what he was going through and how much exhausted he was. She raised her hands and carefully lifted his mask off his face.
And what she saw made her jaw drop and her eyes spread wide open, concerned filling her now
wet eyes that threatened to leak tears at any second.
Amon...
He was in a terrible condition.
Dry mud and blood smeared on his face and messy and dirty unwashed hair.
Large and dark bags underneath his eyes that clearly showed that he hadn't slept a week for an
eternity.
What had he gone through to end up in such a terrible condition? Amelia gasped.
This...
This was way too much for him, a tear trickled down Amelia's cheek.
