Chapter 13 Inner Force
"We call this Inner Force, and once you can control all sources of energy inside your body, you'll be able to use it," Lexus said and then took a deep breath.
Before long, Lexus' aura began to change, and it felt like something ominous was surrounding him. Still, soon he opened his eyes and led the boys toward the final part of the dungeon. In there, they found the dungeon core and dozens of monsters guarding it. The creatures charged at them, and the kids grabbed their training swords.
However, all of a sudden, Lexus disappeared and then appeared behind the monsters. They stopped moving before they fell to the ground while their blood was gushing from numerous wounds in his body. Aion thought that his father had used the judgment cut end… if he had seen after images moving to his father, he would have confirmed that it was that skill. However, Inner Force wasn't that broken… Lexus broke the limit of his strength by only a few levels.
"Control all of your energy inside your body and let it burn, then you will become a lot stronger than you are," Lexus said. "However, this skill is costly in many ways. If you use it too long, your body will be damaged inside out."
He only used it for an instant, but Lexus began to sweat a lot… In the meantime, his kids sure were surprised. That demonstration of power was awe-inspiring and motivated them to train even more. In any case, Aion didn't know what kind of energy his father was mentioned; it seemed like the type of the skill that burns even the life force of the user… so perhaps even consumes their health… since he looked a bit tired, it definitely consumed his stamina. So, it would be weird if it didn't finish his mana as well.
Since Aion could use his mana and stamina, it seemed that he wasn't that far away from learning the technique. However, he was pretty sure he would need to control it, not use it only. Nevertheless, he had some time to learn all that since he was only five years old.
After that, the group returned to the capital, and once again, Aion felt that it was such a waste to leave the corpses of the monsters behind. Once he is fast enough, he is determined to return to the dungeon at night and, by using furtivity, cross the entire area without being seen. However, that also will take a while.
"I will continue to watch over your training, but things in the borders are getting tougher, so it won't be the same as before," Lexus said. "Also, you should think more about your own training methods; I will just point out the things that you should fix."
The boys nodded before entering the mansion. Around the time he was cleaning himself, Aion wondered if he would get ahead of his brothers in terms of knowledge, considering that he was the youngest. The fact that he had the experience of his previous life was a plus, but that would never help him learn Inner Force faster than the others.
It was hard to imagine his father favoring him over the others, so he assumed that it was a technique that he wasn't going to learn anytime soon and he would need a lot more training and combat experience to pull it off.
"How was the trip, Aion? Did you have fun?" Artemisia asked when he returned.
"Kind of, we just observed things, mama," Aion replied. "We didn't do anything aside from walking and watching."
"My, how brave of you to want to face those scary monsters," Artemisia said while hugging Aion from behind and treating him like a Roly-poly toy again.
At that point in time, Aion got used to it, so he was wondering how he should optimize his training methods now. From that day on, he could use the training gear to practice the techniques that he had learned. Practice makes it perfect, and Aion also wanted to be able to use the skill of the system without using the system. It would be very helpful if he could use Fireball without being equipped with the mage class as well, but one step at a time.
The next day, the boys began to train in the garden while Lexus just observed them. For starters, Aion decided to run around the house as fast as he could. In the end, he ended up exhausting his stamina several times before he began to practice his training sword and shield. His father never used those, but he saw the times his half-brothers used them and weren't told by their father that their moves were wrong, so he copied them.
After copying some simple moves, Aion noticed that his stamina was back to complete, and he wondered if he should run again or use his Paladin skills. In the end, he decided to use the skills to get a good feeling about them and activate those without the system in the future.
Double Strike and Shield Swing weren't that hard to pull off. The first was just a diagonal sword strike followed by a vertical swing of the shield, and the other mimicked the final move of the first skill, but it had all his weight behind it. Lexus frowned when he saw that since it wasn't a combination that he had taught Aion or that he had seen… Moreover, since it was a skill of the system, it was perfectly executed with no wasted movements whatsoever.
After that, Aion tried to execute the skills by himself, and while he copied the same moves, they didn't have the same sharpness as before. Thus, Lexus thought that his son got lucky on his first try. In any case, during that week, Aion kept practicing those skills and techniques almost nonstop.
Since his battle tactics instructor was running out of books to give him to read, he made him read the old ones to make sure that he didn't forget the knowledge that he had obtained. Aion thought that he could use his afternoons for himself again, but it looked like he had to put that aside for now. He was pretty sure that there were other tactics books that he could read out there, but the battle tactics instructor was focusing on the small-scale ones for the time being.
"Father, how can I try to use other weapons?" Aion asked on a random morning.
