Chapter 101: Branch and trees... Fruits sure are tasty!
Getting out of his room, he was instantly greeted by a butler,
"Greetings Young Master, our master was invited you to have tea," The butler politely said.
'Patriarch Yang has invited me for tea? I don't think he would try to poison me again,' Bai Lung thought, he noticed a little uneasiness on the butler's face.
His face was as if a bee has stung a little kid's ass while the kid was holding the urge to scream.
'Hmm... Something serious must have happened,' Bai Lung analyzed the situation.
The next moment, Bai Lung's lips curved into a subtle fake smile as he acknowledged the butler's message.
"Very well, I shall join the Patriarch for tea,"
As he made his way through the lavish halls of the Yang Residence, Bai Lung's mind raced with multiple thoughts, but he was confident in one thing, that Lady Yang hadn't spilled the beans.
The butler's unease had not escaped his keen observation.
Something had clearly unsettled the usually composed servant, not to mention, that the servant didn't react wildly when seeing him, like almost eyes popping out.
Reaching the tea pavilion, Bai Lung spotted the Yang Patriarch seated calmly, sipping from a delicate porcelain cup.
However, the older man's expression was not one of tranquility, but rather a carefully masked tension.
Bai Lung could sense the undercurrent of disquiet that permeated the air.
"Greetings! Patriarch Yang," Bai Lung greeted, his voice smooth and measured as he took a seat across from the esteemed 'talented' cultivator.
"I was most honored by your invitation. To what do I owe this pleasure?" he let out, his eyes still cold, face fully straight.
The Patriarch's eyes narrowed slightly, and Bai Lung could see the gears turning in the older man's mind.
"Young Master Bai, I'm afraid I have a... delicate matter to discuss with you." He paused, choosing his words with great care.
"It seems there has been a most unfortunate incident within the family."
"Oh? What has happened, Patriarch?" Bai Lung asked, his face totally unbuzzed.
"Sigh! My son... He left the family, I had received a letter saying, he will only return when he makes a name for himself," The Patriarch revealed.
'Oh, that fat sheep left the house... That's quite unfortunate,' Bai Lung was a little disappointed, after all, a fat cow capable of giving gallons of milk had run away from his clutch, how can he be happy?
But he remained calm knowing everything was under his control.
No matter how hard the heavenly demonic monkey tries, he can't escape the palm of Buddha.
On the other hand, he was quite unsure of why the patriarch wanted to reveal such things to him, he wasn't even part of the Yang Family.
'Is he telling such information to me because I have crippled his son?'
That was the most likely situation, Bai Lung came up with.
"Ah, I see. That is indeed unfortunate news... To think such an event would occur," he said, his tone laced with feigned sympathy.
Inwardly, however, he was mildly disappointed that the matter did not seem to be as juicy as he had anticipated.
"Forgive me, Patriarch, but I must confess I'm a bit puzzled as to why you would share such personal matters with me. I am, after all, merely a guest in your household," Bai Lung said, his eyes narrowing shrewdly.
The Patriarch let out a heavy sigh, his weathered features etched with obvious distress.
"Young Master Bai, the reason I've brought you here is because I..." He paused, his gaze dropping to the ornate teacup cradled in his hands.
"I believe my son's departure may be somehow connected to the... incident that occurred during the Yang pavilion,"
Bai Lung's expression remained impassive, though inwardly he felt a surge of triumph.
'Oh, so the fat sheep's departure is linked to my previous actions. How delightful...'
he mused, carefully schooling his features to maintain an air of concern after all, he knew what would happen with Yang Khan.
Matter of fact, Yang Khan must have already met some supporting characters or female lead.
Nonetheless,
"I see. Please, Patriarch, do continue. I shall do my utmost to assist you in this matter," Bai Lung said, leaning forward slightly and offering the older man an understanding nod.
The Patriarch seemed to gather his resolve, his gaze meeting Bai Lung's with a weighted intensity.
"If Young Master is willing to help us then, I believe we will find him soon, I am greatly sorry for wasting your precious time... I have nothing more to continue," Patriarch uttered, lowering his face lowered.
After the long silence, Bai Lung finally placed his cup at the center of the table and got up from his chair.
'I will bid my farewell then,' Bai Lung got up from his seat.
Patriarch nodded his head.
___
At afternoon,
Bai Lung reunites with Saintess, who seems to have made a breakthrough, however rather than feeling happy, she seems a little off, like a sunflower without sun.
Apparently under the scheme of Beta Fang, Mu Chen was caught red-handed entering the chamber of Saintess's mother.
It's obvious men aren't allowed near the chamber of wives or concubines thus, the sect master is planning to question and execute both Mu Chen and Saintess's mother.
Even if the intention were good, behind the back? It's a big no-no.
...
"The flower seems to be waterless... What is troubling the Saintess?" Bai Lung asked as he already rough idea that it might be connected to her mother.
And her response, proved his point.
"Umm... It seems my mother is in great trouble, I have just gotten a message saying, my mother and Mu Chen are going to face the death penalty," she uttered her heart out, looking at him with pleading eyes.
"I wonder if Holy Envoy is willing to help my mother... I will forever be in your debt, my life is at your whim," she added.
"Oh!... That's a pretty bold phrase, however, I don't think I might be able to help,"
